As Helena and Strike continue searching, a loud buzzing sound seems to approach them, though Helena can't see the source. There's also remains of a giant spider, although that one seems much smaller than Strike, merely dog-sized.

Helena runs over to the remains, ignoring the sound, wondering what had happened and surprised that this would happen naturally at all. She had always assumed that Strike was... At the top of the food chain really. She couldn't think of any normal creature that would mess with a spider of her size. She inquired at Strike as she tried to figure out what had happened.

The buzzing sound comes closer, and an enormous wasp-like creature comes to view. It looks vaguely like the other giant wasps Helena has seen before, but it's much larger, at least 10 feet from head to stinger! Strike seems to be alarmed by its presence, and there's no emotion coming from it at all.

Helena doesn't even hesitate seeing it, as soon as Strike signalled alarm at seeing the creature, Helena immediately lashed out, a ball of fire in the air before she even realised she had thrown it.

Helena's ball of fire barely glances the creature, melting only a little of the chitin as the creature rapidly flies closer, almost reaching Helena. Strike seems terrified of the creature, though she doesn't flee.

Helena stays between the wasp and Strike at any cost, telling her to flee, to get back to Cindy and Flame, that she would catch up and not to worry, as she shrieked like a banshee and flew into the air to match the wasp, throwing a ball of sickly green light, having taken a liking to the ability to create the acidic effect since coming here.

The splash of acid makes the chitin shell bubble where it hit, but the wasp follows Helena, managing to stab her leg painfully with its stinger. Meanwhile, Strike reluctantly flees away from the hill.

Helena grits her teeth and throws another bolt, refusing to run herself until Strike was far enough away.

Strike flees further, hiding in one of the small caves. The bolt causes further damage to the chitin shell, but this seems to hardly bother the wasp as its stinger scratches another wound to Helena's leg.

As soon as Strike was hidden, Helena flew to the east away from Strike as quickly as possible, the only thought at the moment to lead the thing away. If she could get some distance, she would circle around towards Cindy.

The wasp doggedly follows Helena, though its large wings seem clumsy besides Helena's, and it's heavy body has difficulties staying in the air.

Helena narrows her eyes as she looks back and sees that the wasp can't keep up, and can't out fly her. Which meant in the air... She had the advantage. Grinning wickedly, Helena snapped straight into the air, spinning rapidly and trying to land a bolt of acid on the wasps wings.

Helena manages to climb quickly upwards, though her bolt of acid goes wide as the wasp tries to keep up, only to end up going under Helena as it struggles to rise.

Helena cackles as she continues to rise, aiming at the clumsy insects wings again since it had managed to wind up under her. This was glorious~ It made her feel alive, to fight in the air like this.

The bolt hits the wasps wing and defeated, the monster retreats in search of easier prey, continuing southward.

Helena grins as the creature retreats, its wings melted to shambles. Who was queen bitch in the sky~!? She was. Laughing at the thought, Helena spent some time in the air healing her wounds before heading towards Strike.

Two castings of the spell later, the wounds are gone. Helena soon gets back to Strike, who is waiting for her in a narrow cave - more of a crack in the stone than an actual cave, really.

Helena looks sad to Strike as she tries to coax her from her hiding place with soft words and a smile. It seemed that Strike's mate was probably going to have to wait, which was a real shame. Helena had decided it was too dangerous to be out here if Strike's natural predator was around. "Come on, lets go back, I'm sorry" She said softly, hugging her friend.

Helena hugged her back and grinned, lightening her weight as if she were preparing to fly and flopping on Strike's back, pointing. "Onward brave 8 legged one!" She yelled chuckling. "We'll keep our eyes open and see about finding you some lovin though, maybe we'll get lucky"

It was time to head back to Cindy and Flame. They returned empty handed, but at least they hadn't been bored she supposed.
