The stars aren't right!(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

"Ah, but that is where nobility stands apart. No dishonestly required, only the right bloodline," Jade replies with a hint of irony. "The Counseil Èclat are certainly honourable, though perhaps... shortsighted, in certain matters. The Lord Governor himself is a gentle soul, though with his health declining he rarely takes hand in matters of day to day governance, these days."

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

O hun, we both know that's a nice sentiment but it's not true. People with power protect their power from others who want it. There is never only one bloodline and nobility only stand apart because they believe incorrectly that they are different from a beggar on the street. As I said, they will both bleed when cut, they can both starve to death, they both laugh, cry, love, breathe. The First Mistake is trying to elevate yourself above any other animal simply because you use tools. Helena countered, chuckling.

If I put two humans in a box, and don't let them eat, they will both starve, even if one is a legitimate king who fancies himself a god, Or even if OTHER People think he is a god, and the other is simply what that king would call a peasant. she continued, challenging his idea that Any one person was different from another on ANY fundamental level, or even an Animal.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

"Ah, but your thought experiment only demonstrates the mortality of both, and even then I should think we could discern some differences in our hypothetical victims. A peasant would surely act little better than an animal, first complaining noisily, then falling into senseless stupor, only to raise complaints again and again. A man of noble birth would surely compose himself with dignity, accepting death when it approaches while regretting his inability to escape it." Jade counters, gesturing sharply.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

You find me a noble Brave enough to accept a visit from me without telling them I'm about to threaten their life, and I WILL prove you wrong Jade. I'll even bring a peasant for you to see. Helena countered just as smoothly, grinning like a chesire.

In my experience it's those that have grown up with nothing, and are used to not having things given to them, that complain the least. Tell me Jade, what do you think I am? Noble? Or Peasant. she asked, grinning even wider.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

"Hmm. Claire de Orlan could teach you a few things about bravery, I imagine. As for yourself..." Jade dramatically pauses to wet his throat. "That, I'm afraid, is a trick question even if you do not see it as such yourself. Some people are born to nobility, others rise to it. Your manners give your upbringing away, darling, but even if you possess not a drop of noble blood - of which I wouldn't be too certain - some people are born to nobility, others are raised to it. I have little doubt that you could achieve a noble title, were you to desire for one."

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

A trick answer for a trick question I suppose. I still stand by my statement, those raised in a house of entitlement are often disappointing. It's the rare man that can hold my attention Jade. You Should be proud of yourself. she said, letting the argument end on a good note instead of souring what she had to admit were... kind and flattering words. The fucker was silver tongued for sure.

Finishing her coffee, she didn't order another one and instead turned her thoughts to the future. The immediate future anyway. She wouldn't eat this one. She liked this one, genuinely. You haven't seen nobility... I assure you. There is a woman named Jasmine who would put all other queens, princesses, duchesses, to shame. She is a creature that would stagger you. she said honestly, still holding Jasmine in very high esteem. But this woman you mentioned! Teaching Me about bravery! I'm interested now Jade. she said, sitting up in her chair.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

"If you hold her to such a high esteem, meeting her would be an adventure, I'm sure." Jade replies, before quickly concealing a smile. "But yes. I'd imagine it would be interesting to see you two meet. Claire will probably be back in the city by evening. The de Orlan family are quite taken with riding, so they often spend their days in the countryside."

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Care to meet me at the opera house at sunset then? On the steps? I want to meet her now. Helena said, chuckling and wondering what a meeting with Jasmine would be like, and Jade. Interesting in it's outcome for sure.

I definitely need to meet more people while I'm here. Otherwise I'd only get to know 2 parts of this city instead of all 3 and that would be a shame. And what about you Jade? What about your family? Another thing I'm curious about.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

"Of course. I'm sure you two will get along splendidly." Jade replies. "As for my family... well, you wouldn't care about detailed genealogy, I'm sure. Both my father and mother were the only children, so we have fairly extensive estates, my father here and my mother in Mordent. Being the only children they were pressured to get married early on, and I think they just both picked the first acceptable choice to come along. Hardly an epic love story, but they've grown fond of each other over time. My mother is rather fond of culture, so she stays here in the city most of the time, keeping on top of things while my father takes care of the estates, travelling between his and mother's every few weeks. I have a brother and sister. My younger brother went into the army early on, while my sister spends most of her time in scholarly pursuits. Myself, I've become entangled in expanding our fortunes into trade - with estates and titles in both Dementlieu and Mordent, we're in unique position to take advantage of trade in both countries." Jade takes a while to finish his drinks. "What about your family?"

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

So, family holdings held in a few hands and put to good use then huh? And Huh, good marriage. Far enough away from eachother to not kill eachother. Perfect. Helena said, laughing softly as Jade spoke. So you're the smart child and need to figure out trade huh? Talk about something I am Terrible at. Money. Helena continued, before... he asked about her family.

That was OFFICIALLY a question no one so far had asked her and she sighed. Back home things work a little differently... But I managed well enough. Regardless I had a father, businessman but for the most part I was alone and studying. But he would be my only family and we never really got along. Now Family is what I make it she said, getting lost there for a moment before escaping her past again.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

"As they say, distance makes heart grow fonder. I'm sure your father thinks of you more often now, as well." Jade says softly, gazing into Helena's eyes. Tearing his gaze away, he looks outside and stands up. "It's been nice talking with you, Helena, but I need to see about hiring some drivers and wagons. See you at dusk, then?"

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

I'll be there. Helena says, standing with Jade and winking before vanishing and getting the fuck outta there, a skull spinning on the table. Money was going to be the end of her. She had no idea what anything in this fucking place cost. Hopefully everyone would take it as her being cheeky.

She had a date. This had ended SO BADLY last time.

Once free and away though, she relaxed a little and flailed her way back to the safe house wondering what the fuck to do now. She had Found mister card shark, and it seemed he was more interested in the game then in gambling. She'd have to look into the wine merchant for an easier time, and well. Jade was a businessman. How convenient. She needed a change of clothes and her mask.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Jade makes up the difference, leaving several coins on the table before walking out, giving a friendly wave to one of the card players as he does so.

Meanwhile, Helena would make her way back to the safehouse without issues, seeing some street entertainers including a magician on the way.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Huh, so the street performers were a thing and Jade was a gentleman. He'd paid for the rest. She was going to rock his world for that later.

Once she was inside though, she brushed her fingers over the mask and slid it onto her face, slipping into her silks rather then the leather and furs. Comfortable, easy to move in, and eye catching.

She was saving her appetite for Jade later, but that didn't change the fact that she was impossibly horny right now, one of her own tendrils curling around from behind her back to brush across her folds while she was getting dressed, before she got sidetracked and immediately thrust it home, crying out and leaning forward against the wall, fucking herself furiously, another curling around her neck to push passed her lips, silencing her own cries as she fucked herself from both ends, revelling in the doubled sensations for a good hour.

Once that was taken care of and she could think, she finished getting dressed, and slipped outside. She'd drift around the city in the mask, making something of a passive appearance, from one corner of the city to the next, but spending most of her time around the opera house, learning it's nearby streets, and it's alleys and backways carefully, licking her lips wishing the mask was more playful, having grown used to the turban.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Once Helena comes down from her ride, she notices that her vision has become slightly blurred. Once outside, she finds that people don't look quite right unless she looks right at them. As she starts walking around, she finds that many people smile or stare at her, and few even ask if she's going to perform.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Her ride was awesome and she was going to do it again later. For now though she was very confused about what the mask was doing. Still, she seemed to be well received and took time theatrically bowing to people who greeted her or asked if she was going to perform. Though she didn't speak herself.

For now she was more curious about the mask, trying to figure out what it was doing, wondering if it was trying to tell her more about other people or if it helped her focus on any one person in particular, trying to hold one person she met in her mind and seeing how far she could follow them with her eyes, perhaps her vision of them would remain near perfect so long as they were her primary focus.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

At first, staring doesn't seem to change anything, but for a moment an aura flickers around the woman before she vanishes into the crowd, giving of a distinct impression of rippling grayness.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Now THAT was interesting... Seeing that flash, Helena immediately sought out any of the street performers using magic, and Stared. In a creepy manner, her head slightly tilted, arms raised a little at her shoulders like a scarecrow, standing perfectly, completely still, using her unnatural balance to do so on the tips of her toes to give the impression while she waited for the aura to show itself again.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

It takes a while to find another street magician who is actually using magic, but after a bit of searching, Helena manages to locate a young man wearing a worn wizard's hat and simple vest over casual woollen clothes. He smiles as he spots Helena and gestures her closer, but doesn't stop his act. Soon enough Helena spots a swirling aura of white around him, but also a burst of numerous colours whenever he uses one of his tricks. The hat and the vest he is wearing seem to have auras of their own, as well.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Helena had found a mask that detected magic.... She thought. It seemed. FUCKING GLORIOUS! Having sorted that out it seemed, she stopped her creepy posing and clapped, slipping closer since he had invited her, continuing to investigate him, walking around him slowly but with wide exaggerated movements. She was not a funny jester. She made you wonder if she was going to murder you. Which made people laugh. Because they were nervous. PERFECT!

For now though she had to puzzle this out and tried to associate different color flashes with different spells he was using. And well, to steal any good ones he used by watching the general idea of it.
