The stars aren't right!(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

"Oh? Jade did mention that you're a traveller, but not that you've been to Nova Vaasa. They have truly magnificent horses." Claire replies, interest instantly sparking in his eyes. "I have a Vindhåre gelding myself, but he has grown quite old and I don't ride him very often any more. For pleasure I ride a cloudtail mare. She's fast and has stamina, but she can't carry very much. I also have a wartrained striver stallion, with whom I practice quite a lot."

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Helena beamed with excitement, hearing the was another wind mare here, as well as hearing about the other breeds that Claire had. Though she chastised him only very slightly. If the spirit of my own Vindhare was to be true, even your gelding in his age would appreciate a ride. I would Very much love to see your animals Sir. she said, an equal interest shining in her own eyes before turning to Jade and smiling.

TO be fair, Jade himself isn't very sure where all I've traveled but yes, I've been through and across Nova Vaasa. It is... not in the best state of the places of I've seen and yet in some places and ways it is Thriving. It's animals are magnificent and it's people are open and kind if you are kind first from what I experienced. But I've never been to this land before and I'm eager to see more of it. Helena said to both of them getting excited. My most interesting find was a Dire Wolf in a trap of all things. And after freeing him... well... This may seem odd but he stayed with me, even now he's back home flopping around the house like an oversized Dog. You'd never think it looking at him, he stands this time, My Fenrir. she said, holding her hand to her Chest.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Jade takes a sip of wine while listening to Helena. The stream of people into the theatre has slowed, and the time piece near the ceiling shows that the opera is about to begin. "Oh, he does and my stablehand takes him for a short ride every day, but he just doesn't have much stamina any more. I'll have to put him down soon, I'm afraid. I've been meaning to visit Nova Vaasa myself some day and perhaps pick up a new horse or several, but I have yet to make time for it. I should love to take you for a ride, it's quite rare to meet a woman who seems to appreciate horses quite like I do." Claire replies politely before Jade puts in: "A wolf? How did you manage that? You don't look like any of the druids I've seen."

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

You know? I've heard the word druid but only have a vague idea of what it means. As for how? Kindness and Patience. Once Fenrir was sure I wasn't a threat he stopped being nervous around me. The first thing he did once his leg was healed was hunt and he brought me a rabbit. I ate with him and after that? He treated me like family. I tell you though it was terrifying trying to get him out of that bear trap I had to wait until he fell asleep to even attempt it. But... I couldn't stand to see him like that. He's a beautiful animal. Helena said to Jade, telling the tale in part before turning back to Claire. And yes! Horses are magnificent creatures. I would love to go for a ride. she said, seeming excited at the idea though she stayed glued to Jade's side for now.

Honestly... I've found that most animals react very well once fear is put aside. They cannot be afraid of you and you mustn't show fear towards them. You must stay calm above everything else. she said. But please! You sound like you know what a druid actually is! Enlighten me!

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

"To be honest, I don't know very much about them myself. They're a secretive bunch, and I've only met a few. But apparently they hold nature in reverence and they can do some impressive things with wild animals. They're also quite ragged looking bunch." Jade replies as the lamps around the audience dim and the lights at the stage brighten, causing the steady buzz of conversation around the hall to fade into silence as the first actors step into the stage.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

As the lights started to dim, Helena taking notes on scruffy druids apparently, everyone got quiet so she turned to watch this show with Jade, curious as to how this would play out.

Still, she was rubbing shoulders in the right places at the moment so that was all to the good of any and all plans in this place. Literally all of them benefited from some exposure and enough charm to slide her way into higher ranks.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Three uniformed men start singing on the stage, marching through it and setting the plot into motion. The story is quite hard to follow, but involves an envoy from Azalin Rex, brave soldiers from Dementlieu and Richemulot, scheming spies of Falkovnia, three honourable officers, and a love interest.

After an hour, there is a break and the lights start glowing brighter again. Jade stands up and stretches a bit, filling everyone's cups while he's at it. "Well, Helena. How do you like our opera so far?"

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Helena watches carefully, she had to find a damned library for certain because there was a lot here she didn't know but she was picking it up and glad there wasn't any meaningful language barrier for her. The fact that Azalin's envoy was involved got her interest immediately though and she was suddenly thinking of Charlie.

When there was an intermission she stood and languidly stretched herself, before accepting the cup and drinking. Very interesting! Helena said, smiling and going back to speaking with the pair of men. Claire seemed a kind enough sort with a passion for his animals and Jade continued to be... Well to Helena's eyes it was like he was a student himself, and in the way of he likely didn't have a profession or even a real hobby.

Azalin Rex, his name comes up alot all over the place. I've heard traveling, though in Darkon no one would speak it or him, and in other places. What is he like? Helena asked the pair, wanting their take on her employer.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

"That's a good question, really. I'm afraid that I, too, know little of him but rumours. He's a skilled politician and a powerful wizard, that's for sure. It is said that he has discovered the secret of immortality, and he's certainly very old. He can also be quite callous when it suits him, and he becomes downright vicious when angered." Jade replies as he sits down again. "He's also quite good as a commander, or so I've been told." Claire puts in, sipping from his wine.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Helena hrmed and leaned back, crossing her legs as she sipped her wine. I would imagine if he had discovered immortality that he'd be good at quite a few things. It's all time in the end isn't it, Time and dedication? It's not fair is it, that a short life however sweet limits the exposure you can have to the world. I am glad I travel. Even if it's Disastrous to things like Finance or Ambition. Helena said, laughing.

I will say though apart from Azalin, that there are always rumors flying about of strange things or very impressive people. I can only hope to meet as many as I can. Always something new to learn. she continued, smiling into her cup. What about you Jade? You're young, any deep ambitions or dreams?

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

"Oh, I keep myself busy. Expanding the family trading empire beyond Dementlieu and Mordent seems quite sufficient goal at the moment. I might even try to establish a route through the mists into distant lands, though that would be quite an expensive venture. But any excuse to travel is good, right?" Jade replies, winking at Helena.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

If you want to travel through the mists for trade then I would be remiss to not mention the Vistani. They are friendly enough and I was allowed passage with them to the amber wastes literally singing for my supper. They are wonderful people and would gladly help if you could think of a suitable trade or fee for their help. she offered, perking up. She missed the snake people. She missed New York! SHE MISSED PANCAKES!

It is hard... being away from friends. she said, getting a faraway look in her eye before shaking it off and smiling brightly. But I've made two wonderful new ones haven't I! Ahh! It's starting! she said, looking around at the lights as they started to dim and wriggling into her seat to watch the play.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Claire chuckles sensibly, then shuts up as the lights dim and the opera starts again.

Armed with cryptic advice from Azalin's envoy, the three officers manage to defeat Drakov's spies in time for a grand battle where Dementlieuse forces break an assault by the Falkovnians. In the end the hero gets the girl, while his companions are granted land and titles. The opera ends as the three noblemen swear oaths of loyalty to each other.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Helena watches and again studies what's actually happening in the story. Whilst the hero got the girl and awards were given... There was an undercurrent constantly through the story that Azalin had curried favors with his envoy and in doing so had gained the countries ear and relations. It also seemed that this country was true to the others she had seen. Cloak and Dagger was a Constant.

She stood and applauded the actors when it was finished and smiled at everyone even if she was the only one. It was good and they deserved the praise.

Very interesting! I have to thank you both for this evening. For Claire's warming care for his animals and engaging conversation, and for Jade's gift in showing me this. she said, thanking them both as she finally finished the dregs of her second cup.

But at least for me the evening is still young and full of possibilities! Where do 3 people go after such a stimulating event as this to talk and relax? she asked them, smiling brightly and taking their hands, tugging them up playfully and looking around the box in excitement. For the night at least she could pretend at a social life again.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

The rest of the audience applauds as well, going on for several minutes as the actors make their bows and curtsies. As the applaud fades, Jade picks up his cup and finishes it as well. "At this time of the night? It's either somewhere seedy where we can drink and gamble until the small hours of the night, or to my house. I do have an excellent bottle of Barovian brandy we could finish in the library." he says with a smile, while Claire appears more reserved.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Mmm, that would be better, It's never wise to put me around cards, so a glass of brandy sounds wonderful. Claire, you seem like you have other obligations though I hate to pry... How about we part ways here and if it would be good for you, someone could show me to your stables for a country ride tomorrow? I'd very much like to see your horses. she offered, looking apologetic as she slipped her arm through Jade's again.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

"Well, I do need to get up early in the morning... All right, I'll see you lovebirds tomorrow." Claire replies as the three of them walk out of the opera house. Bidding his good byes, the captain walks into the night, leaving Jade to escort Helena into his manor. The manor has four floors with several windows of the second showing lights inside, and Jade unlocks the door, leading Helena through darkened staircases into the top floor. The library turns out to be a medium-sized room with masterfully carved furniture, and several shelves of books that are revealed to cover a variety of subjects focusing mostly on history and romance as Jade lights an oil lamp. The brandy is found in a small closet among small cups, and Jade pours generously for both Helena and himself, gesturing for her to sit down.

"I must say, the actors were on their best form tonight. Of course, opera based on historical events is popular, so they must have worked hard for it."

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Helena cheerfully said her goodbyes to the captain and had the good sense to blush when he called them lovebirds. Follow Jade to his home she looked suitably impressed but it wasn't Azalin's fortress of doom. If anything it looked classy and comfortable.

Heading inside she followed him to the top floor and actually EEEEEEE'd when she saw the library, bouncing excitedly and running her fingertips over the books.

Most everything was related to history and romance and when the brandy was poured, Helena took the glass and sipped on it. Ahh I love books! They even smell nice! she said, sitting in a chair and looking around excitedly, sipping on her drink and smiling at Jade.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

"I know. Most of my own books are scattered around the study, since my father doesn't use it any more. Books are certainly much more comely form of paper than the ledgers the clerks keep giving me." Jade replies, taking a seat himself. Taking a gulp of brandy himself, the nobleman places the cup on a table, leaning a bit forward. "I must say, though, that their scent isn't nearly as pleasant as your perfume."

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Helena blushed and smiled at him, leaning forward herself. I'll have to counter that your flattery is Almost as attractive as your intelligence. Helena said, playing the game in turn and raising a thin shapely eyebrow ever so slightly. What would history have to say about small sweet meetings between a man and a woman like this? What should happen next? she teased, sipping on her brandy again.
