The almost-understanding of birds fades out as suddenly as it appeared, only to fade back in as Helena tries to focus in it. Though she can't actually make out the words, she does feel closer to the animals and with a little concentration, she can make out their emotions, lust and pride and fear and gluttony and every other base emotion such an animal might make. The design of the buckle seems peculiar, almost like a puzzle. Though there doesn't seem to be any obvious way of opening it, Helena feels fairly confident that she could work it out with a little time - that is, assuming the magic of the collar would even allow her to open it. Of course, despite the enchantment it doesn't seem to be particularly sturdy, so one way or another she could almost certainly free herself should there be a pressing need.
