Sable finds the cellar still cold and well stocked, the cold preserving the food and booze. There didn't seem to be a water pump, but she had seen a well out back which she could take water from, along with an outhouse. The dog followed her around, woofing occasionally and wagging her tail.

Getting down to business, Sable starts cleaning off the plants fluids, finding that they stick to her and feel something like jelly, and don't dry. They retain their taste, and Sable can't help but play with her breasts a little as she licks them clean, rubbing one nipple with her rough tongue while her fingers pinch and squeeze the other.

It takes a little longer than she'd thought, but after an hour Sable cleans all of the plants gunk off of her, glad to be rid of it, and that she wasn't disturbed in the process.

Sable murred happily after she finished her cleansing ritual, finding a mirror and looking herself over to be sure that there was no trace of her encounter with the plant while she prepared to leave. She had one final idea before preparing to go, taking several of the dead plant's long vines, mixed with a few of her own, hanging some off of the window sills, even looping the flower up so it looked like it was laying in wait for new victims.

'With a little luck, that'll be enough to keep other monsters out. After all, who wants to be attacked by a rapist plant.. hehe...'

She closed the door most of the way, and left it propped slightly open to give it the feel of the other buildings nearby, then briskly looked herself over once more, wondering if her tight leather armor would fit with her pregnant belly.

Her work complete, sable examines it for a moment before declaring it satisfactory. Whether or not it would keep anything out she didn't know, but it was better than nothing.

Strapping her armor back on, Sable finds that while it is mildly uncomfortable due to her slightly swollen belly, it still fits. Her dog gives a bark of excitement and runs around in a circle before looking up at her with its tongue lolling out.

Sable leans in and gives her dog's head a playful lick, "Good girl." she reassures her new companion again, "Ready to go? We're going to take it nice and smooth for a bit. That plant really did a number on me... even if it was mostly my fault..." she blushed a bit at her words, even though the dog wouldn't understand.

Heading out of the building after she'd setup a vague appearance of the plant still being alive, Sable looked over the area and sighed, one hand tracing over her belly. Her goal was still clear to her as she drew her rifle, moving her hand from her belly and checking the weapon to ensure it was in good condition and ready to fire at any moment.

Gun ready, she took one last glance back at the tavern and thought to herself, humming softly. 'I could cast a spell over this to further protect it... but I really don't know what anymore... I think... I need to learn some new spells...' she huffed and turned, content with its vague appearance, at least.

Patting her side a few times to encourage her dog to follow along, Sable set off towards that glow in the manufacturing district, cautiously alert to anything around her this time, she stopped short at every intersection to glance around the corner, and carefully avoided any windows or doorways as best she could, gun aimed towards any she was forced to move past. She didn't want to be caught offguard with another blast of pollen to the face again, as she rushed towards the portal's unnatural glow.

Her dog following along behind her, Sable heads down the street toward the manufacturing district. She doesn't get far before her dog lets out a lot growl, and following its gaze Sable spots a pair of small, black skinned demons with long claws creeping toward her from out of a house. They're fifteen feet away when Sable spots them, and the two demons rise to attack, knowing that they were discovered.

Sable was beginning to grow annoyed at the way things seemed to spring up on her unprepared, but her gun already pointed at the entrance of the house when her dog began to growl.

Sable fires off her gun with her initiative bonus over the beasts, while she takes up a defensive stance against the two small demons coming after her and begins to move at a brisk pace, "C'mon girl. These things shouldn't even be worth our time."

Sable makes a rather crude gesture at the demons as she runs down the street, trying to coax the dog to keep pace as she tries to avoid stationary combat. She knew if things turned bad, she could always fall back on her spells.

'Let's see if these demons really want to bother with such a fiesty target.' she thought as she bolted around a corner, flipping off the small beasts as she ran.

(And so did God come down from the heavens, shaking his finger irritably, and said; "THOU SHALT NOT INVENT RULES!")

To-hit: 6 + 20 + 3 = 29 vs 20 = hit.
Damage: 5 + 18 + 3 = 26 damage (I upped the damage for ranged weapons, just letting you know in case you missed the announcement.)

Her shot strikes the lead demon, stopping it in its tracks and gravely wounding it, giving Sable an opportunity to take off down the street. Her dog is only too happy to follow her away from the demons, and with her head start Sable is well away by the time the demons give chase. She keeps the distance equal between her and the demons, and after a while the wounded one drops off, leaving only a single clawed demon trailing thirty feet behind her.

(Eep sowwy, not inventing rules, I'm just saying I'm running during combat rather than staying put. Your rules are what I was using for my defense adjustment. -3 to hit, +6 dodge. As listed in character creation thread.)

Sable laughs at the way the demons were so foolishly scrambling but still willing to give chase, arming a second round in her gun as she continued down the street and spinning back on the thing with only a slight slow of her stepping to unload another round, "You should've stayed to help your little friend!"

Another quick gunshot sound ringing out as she attempts to put down the second demon, flipping him off again after her shot was fired. She turned back to continue her run, shaking her head as she went, "Filthy beasts. They're a joke though, aren't they? If this is the worst those portals have to offer, then maybe that Daemon's offer was unnecessary?"

(taking a smaller penalty this round due to slowing down, -1 to hit, +2 dodge, continuing towards the portal)

(Oh, fighting defensively. Stupid me. Sorry about that. You get 2 exp from the plant.)

To-hit: 2 + 20 + 3 - 1 = 24 vs 20 = hit.
Damage: 3 + 18 + 3 = 22 damage

Her second round strikes the demon following her, wounding it but not killing it, and it is forced to slow like its companion, eventually dropping away. When she realizes that she is no longer being followed, Sable slows to a walk, and notices that her dog is now walking with its head low and its tail between its legs, whining in fear.

Sable chuckles softly to herself as she reloads her gun the two rounds she fired off. She was glad she brought one of her master's weapons, stroking the barrel of the rifle playfully as she purred in contentment.

"With you in my care, I doubt anything can get to me." she said in a rather serious tone while inwardly chuckling.

Her dog's low whine was enough that she knew bad things could be around any corner. The closer she got to the portal, the more dangerous things would get, and a few stray demons that were soon to bleed to death would be the least of her concerns.

She leaned down low and wrapped her arms around her companion, whispering soft reassurances and giving the dog another lick across the head, an almost motherly instinct. "shhh. I know you can't understand me too well, but I'm going to try to sneak closer to the portal. So I can't have you whining nearby."

Sable gently moved her dog away from the center of the street, sneaking into a side alley and attempting to give the two of them a moment to breathe, while at the same time scouting the area herself once more, as she did not want to be caught up close again by anything more dangerous than the little beasts she had just finished putting down.

As Sable pulls her dog into the side street, its whimpers quiet and she raises her hackles and bars her teeth. Whatever her dog is afraid of, it seems to be getting closer. There were only two ways in or out of the alley Sable had entered, and the walls were bare, so at least she could only be attacked from two likely directions.

"shit." Sable whispered. "shit..." she repeated. "Shit......." she added a third one for good measure. Whatever was nearby seemed to know they were there, she was caught before her plan even had a chance to succeed.

"Wait... this isn't going to be a problem... This could even be a good thing, what if whatever my dog is scared of turns out to be the demon making these portals?" She stroked her dog's sides and purred reassuringly, starting to whisper a spell. 'Invisibility...' (Light, Level 3)

She continued to pet her dog so the animal wouldn't feel abandoned, but quietly slipped half a step away as she envisioned an aura around her slowly bending light away from her body, making it impossible to see her. Her gun was ready and she quietly watched the ends of the alley, and above herself, just in case, waiting for whatever was coming...

Casting: 1 + 21 + 3 = 25 vs 22 = Success.

Sable fades from view as her spell takes effect, her dog whimpering in fear as its master disappears. It seems to take a little comfort from Sables reassurances, however, and doesn't bolt and run off. Only a few seconds later a massive, hairless, black-skinned hound rounds the end of the alley opposite where Sable entered from, followed by two more just like it. They immediately spotted Sables dog and started forward, growling.

'hmm, pathetic. I thought it would actually be something to be scared of.'

Sable let her tail flip across her companion's back, to reassure the dog that she was still there as she quietly whispered, barely enough that her dog would hear her, especially with the new arrivals growling, "shhh."

She took quick aim and fired at the first hound with her semi-automatic rifle, hoping that if it wouldn't put the beast down, it would at least give the animal pause to reconsider attacking, and hopefully its friends as well.

Damage: 11 + 10 + 3 - 4 = 20 x 2 = 40 damage.

Sables round smacks right into the first beasts shoulder, seemingly going right through its muscle and striking against bone. Which is why Sable is stunned when the monster roars in fury and erupts in black, chitinous plating. Its companions follow suit, quickly covering the beasts in black armor. They charge toward where Sable was standing, likely to where they had heard the gun shot come from. It seemed that these weren't ordinary hounds.

Sable's eyes widened a bit when she saw the bullet travel through the beast but not put it down, and the sudden appearance of armor on its body and its allies brought a growl to her lips as well.

She growled in her dog's ear and gave an urgent command, trying to show they were going to be in for a fight, "Defend." she hissed out, patting her dog a few more times for reassurance, then rushing forward to meet the charging beasts. With her invisibility still on, she hoped she judged how easily she could slip around the beasts, hoping with her speed she could get behind them before they reached her dog, and attack them from behind, breaking up their attack.

With the shock of her gun having such little effect, especially knowing how easily her master took down large beasts with a similar weapon, her mind retreated back to her favored magics, 'Shock' (level 3, lightning)

Her electric attack targetting first the one that was already injured, hoping one more good attack would take it out...

Stealth: Success.
Casting: 3 + 34 + 3 = 40 vs 22 = Success.
To-hit: 8 + 42 + 3 = 53 vs 44 = hit.
Damage: 1 + 2 + 11 + 3 - 5 - 4 - 6 = 2 damage.
Mind vs Mind: 15 + 42 + 3 = 60 vs 16 + 14 = 30 == Resilia wins.

Sables lightning strikes the demonic creature, but it doesn't seem to harm the creature overly much, even though it holds the creature where it stands. The other two beasts rush to where Sable was standing and pounce, though both miss completely since they have only a vague idea of where she is.

Her dog barks at the creatures, trying to get their attention, though she doesn't attack. Apparently, her dogs fear of the strange dogs over-rode her command, suggesting to Sable that they weren't just dogs.

Sable hissed as her spell's power jolted the unnatural dog, she couldn't tell for sure if these were demons or merely corrupted by the dark powers. Either way, she wasn't about to let them at her, changing her fighting stance to be more defensive now that the one dog was held. As long as the beast couldn't move, she knew her attack would keep damaging it.

'Static' (Level 1, Lightning) Sable chanted her base electrical spell, using it to strengthen her attack and make the bolt of electrical energy strengthen upon her target, to hold it better, to damage it more, to end this fight.

Using her invisibility to her advantage still and the stunned dog, Sable rushed around the beast, trying to keep its twitching body between her and the other dogs that were striking out at her.

(Defensive stance, -2 to hit, +4 dodge. Keeping target on the stunned dog.)

(Not for Magic or Spirit attacks. A lightning bolt will deal the same damage whether you know it's coming or not.)

Stealth: Failure.
Casting: 10 + 34 + 3 = 47 vs 12 = Success.
Damage: 7 + 2 + 11 + 3 + 2 - 5 - 4 - 6 = 10 damage.

Resilias second spell goes off even as the first demon dies, her body being covered in static electricity.

The demonic dogs seem to have caught on to where she is, however, and the first one lunges at her, trying to bear her to the ground.

To-hit: 14 + 42 = 56 vs 19 + 20 + 3 + 4 = 46 == Enemy wins.

The demon hammers into her, bearing her to the ground. It stood over her, snarling through its black armor as it straddled her.

(Check. Two questions. Is she grappled? And who is Resilias?)

Sable nearly cried out in victory as she watched the first demon stop moving, slumping lifelessly to the ground, her spell's damage bolstered by her static spell, she turned sharply to bring the spell to bear on her next target, only to feel her body slammed into and she hit the ground hard, whincing as her feline grace and leather armor kept her from being hurt by the motion, but not from being put to the ground and straddled.

She gave up her invisibility spell, realizing it was of no use while the beast had her scent, and all but had her pinned to boot, but she redoubled her focus on her shock spell, bringing her hand back towards the beast that was atop of her to send her spell's power through its body.

Sable's mind reeled from the rush of combat, and the only spell that she could think of was the one she had just case... "SHOCK!" (level 3, lightning) she whispered out in a cry of panic, her gun dropped to her side and she attempted to put both hands full of crackling lightning to the demon that was on her, hoping she could force it to retreat, or at least hold it stunned through her magics.

(also... Wow. 44 vs. 44 on that last to hit. That was close. Don't we get to hit bonuses on stunned targets though? or auto-hit?)
