Witch's Chess Out of Character Discussion

Re: Witch's Chess Out of Character Discussion

Well the rest of my scenario should be interesting, looking forward to it Keylo. I hope ill know how to beat whatever puzzle may come next, I guess ill be alright if it's bible related.

Re: Witch's Chess Out of Character Discussion

Ugh, I never read the bible... well I did, but I forgot about 99% of the stuff that they mentioned and I don't have one nearby so if a bible question comes up, I am screwed.

Re: Witch's Chess Out of Character Discussion

Roughly the same amount of updates, but I just need some writing inspiration for now. That and some sleep. Good night!~

Re: Witch's Chess Out of Character Discussion

Aww....
Good nite

Ugh, makes me glad I decided not to join, I've never read the bible, never went to church, nothing like that. The most I know about the bible I leaned from watching Bruce Almighty and Evan Almighty, and from playing Xenosaga :/

Re: Witch's Chess Out of Character Discussion

Lol, everyone's making such a big deal about him deciding to use a Bible verse for a puzzle. It's not like minor knowledge of the book is uncommon, or that it's so hard to look up a passage if you've never read it.

Re: Witch's Chess Out of Character Discussion

I don't mind all that much, but yeah, I wouldn't know the closest place to find a bible, and looking crap up on the web is a pain in the ass for me, because I can only view one page at a time, and it takes as long to go back a page as it does to load a new one, about a minute per MB.

That being said, keep on using that bible stuff, that was actually my favourite thing about the Xenosaga series :)

Re: Witch's Chess Out of Character Discussion

Want me to confess something? In truth, all of the passages I've used so far have been googled on the spot. While I have read the bible, I have little to no recollection of which verses are which :p. Not that hard considering the Ten Commandments is generally common knowledge, Christian or not.

Re: Witch's Chess Out of Character Discussion

Er, the only one of those that I kind of know (I don't know its number) is:

Put no other god before me.

A line which implies there are other gods, but that the Christian one is claiming the number one spot.

Re: Witch's Chess Out of Character Discussion

Though shalt not steal.
Though shalt not kill.
Though shalt not covet thy neighbors wife.
Though shalt not covet thy neighbors property.
Though shalt have no other gods before me.
Thou shalt keep the Sabbath Holy.
Though shalt have no false idols.
Honor your father and mother.
Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.

Not in order, but that's roughly what all of them are. Basically, they together say: Don't be greedy, don't kill unless I tell you to, don't think with your reproductive organs, be nice to your parents, don't be a liar, and I'm the god damn boss.

If he goes to other Bible passages I'm screwed though, unless he starts pulling stuff out of Romans or Hymns.

Re: Witch's Chess Out of Character Discussion

I might pull some from Psalms actually. Although the next scenario/storyline's puzzle will be based on an epitath of my own creation.

Re: Witch's Chess Out of Character Discussion

Sweet.

Re: Witch's Chess Out of Character Discussion

:x, you might not say that depending on how hard I make it...

Anyway, update time for me. Time to write up Zero's critical fail of 1/1...

Re: Witch's Chess Out of Character Discussion

Lulz. He and his enemy both rolled ones, or he rolled two ones in a row?

Edit: Double failz for Zero.

Re: Witch's Chess Out of Character Discussion

Two ones in a row... and that was a reroll in an attempt to save his ass. Fate wants his character raped.

Re: Witch's Chess Out of Character Discussion

Lulz.

Re: Witch's Chess Out of Character Discussion

Though shalt not kill....
don't kill unless I tell you to...
Actually, the original meaning was 'don't kill others, period'. That was one of the reasons the Romans didn't like the Christians: they refused to fight in the army because they were pacifists.

Re: Witch's Chess Out of Character Discussion

Due to the fact that arguing about minor details regarding the meaning of an ancient religious text never ends well, I choose to concede the argument before it gets out of hand.

Edit: Also, in regards to skill increases, can characters learn new skills not related to their previous memories? Or can we only take things directly from our characters background?

Re: Witch's Chess Out of Character Discussion

You can if you have them "learn it" in the present... I do want a proper IC event/reason for them learning it of course.
