There are plenty of demos on DLsite, so not sure what you mean.

While this is nowhere near as dumb as say, Guilty Hell + enty, it still doesnt feel right to me. I don't see the need for it. To me, $1000-ish in profit after they hit 2000 in sales doesnt seem worth the backlash.

If even 100 less people buy the full game because they feel like the dev is being cheap, then they already lost money. It's not as though the game isn't going to make a lot of sales once it's done given past success.

well i would think this game is not really a trial version since it doesn't have even a story formed, think it like an spin off mini game then it is ok to charge 100 yen.let's hope when the second game for real make an entire different pace to show it IS another game...

I'm sure a lot of them do, it's just the idiots who get suckered in to buy a glorified demo are what validate developers to do these dirty business tricks.

Sounds like those Americans who already bought the game, amirite? Or Patreon supporters (from any country, BTW) who are quick to dish out their credit cards because they saw a couple pretty pictures for games that just started development? Eh?

Fenril i understand your anger because i disagree to pay for early access games, "exclusive DLCs" etc.

But it's not like he is doing something THAT wrong by selling the demo. Other people already gave some good examples (Comiket, Patreon etc.). He is just giving a chance to try out the game for fans and it's not like it's some unknown cash grabber. His 2 previous games were very good (i would even dare to say that those were one of the best Metroidvanias i have ever played) so there will be a lot of people looking forward to play it.

Is it unethical? Maybe. But do i care? No and neither should you. If you really want to play this game you will wait for the full version like me anyway. If other people want to pay for early access then it's their choice and money.

As long as the full games will have 0 cut content and are priced reasonably i'm 100% ok with all of this. I mean a 2 dollar trial is nothing compared to the shit that some major AAA games companies have been doing. Good thing that there are still some good companies out there (looking at you CDProjekt).

It's not.

People who buy this will not automatically be getting the full version later. People who buy this will need to pay full price for the game later.

The dev is arguably being cashgrabby, yes.

The dev is in no way, shape, or form being sneaky or underhanded about this. They're very clear and up front about what you are, and are not getting if you voluntarily choose to purchase this item. (It's just that they're doing so in Japanese... )

Underhanded? He was completely honest up front about what you're getting. They produced a demo disc for Summer Comiket, which sold for 100 yen (to cover the costs of going to Comiket, producing the disc, etc). They then made a downloadable version available, and also put it up on dlsite for the same price, to be fair to people who had already bought it. If you did buy it at Comiket, it comes with a password for a free downloadable version. As a show of good faith, since this demo is likely to become the free demo for the full game in the future, he will also make an additional exclusive minigame that only people who buy this (or the Comiket version) can download at some point.

On his blog he explains that it's usual practice to charge a small amount for these demo discs at Comiket, and he was somewhat worried about charging the same for a download demo version, but the overall positive feedback he received for it has relieved him. (I'm using Google Translate here, so I might have missed some of the nuance - "In the Comiket homebrew game genre, it is common to distribute the trial version at a low price. To my knowledge, you can make an H game free on sites like DMM and booth. Some developers like 大人の道楽 have already released full H games for free that can easily rival this demo in content. Also, some developers have released full H games under dlsite's trial download button, albeit with restrictions like cut H content or ease of access to the gallery. I imagine the only reason this developer made the early access/demo or whatever paid was indeed for Comiket Japan.

I do hope more people started using Booth and DMM over dlsite. I know DMM likes to censor their more profound fetishes to western IPs as a negative; though, doesn't seem like people actually care about censorship anymore.

Can't help you there. I've heard some people use paypal to buy points on the non-porn half of DLsite and then use those points to buy on the porn side, but I've never tried it as I have a sane VISA card.

And even if they did, don't really have the experience with the japanese language or trial and erroring their way through the payment process.

Sorry if i'm wrong but were you the one that translated the first repure aria?

Edit: would love to see that one finished if i'm not wrong it's basically 90% translated... the other 2 girls hotel/masturbation scenes and the bottom right text box were left untranslated, since this is the sequel it would be cool to see the first one fully translated.... it's sad seeing the rimu game fully translated but not this one.

If i recall correcly he started it and then Kerridan and AA continued it. I don't know much more because i got interested in this game after those 2 took over. It's one of the best h-games i have ever played so it was a real treat to have it translated.

Okay wow, now that I see this I like how the flow of the scenes is improved.

You can "freeze" them to play them at any stage indefinitely, can skip them, or let them play naturally and even try to escape. That innovation pretty much covers all the bases.

Also, I hope there's nothing important past the three ballerinas because I'm not getting past them any time soon.

If i recall correcly he started it and then Kerridan and AA continued it. I don't know much more because i got interested in this game after those 2 took over. It's one of the best h-games i have ever played so it was a real treat to have it translated.

yeah, it's my favorite game that's why i would like to see it completely translated like the Rimu game, Kerridan hasn't been online in 2 years and AA i think went with just Rimu... and this was abandoned because the story and everything else was translated but the events for the other 2 girls and the text box weren't.... i'm desperate to play this completely in english as i played rimu and see my favorite girl events ... and what the shopkeeper actually says to you lol

Oh, they're not terribly hard to fight past, its just why would you want to get past them?

Also, I'm missing the second to last girl in the dictionary, and I'm still a little disappointed that there are no h-scenes during boss fights for the most part, hopefully they'll be added for the full release. (would also be nice if he upgraded the old girls with the new mechanics for sex, that would very quickly put the blue swimsuit blondes on par with the ballerinas, and maybe FINALLY make some sense out of those fire girls.)
