Never understood that line of thinking (or any really) on Patreon's part. Incest isn't inherently a bad thing, as long as both parties are consenting and of legal age, it should be fine. It's kinda stupid that they're getting fussy over two people with the same blood smacking fleshy bits together in a FICTIONAL setting.
That's the irony of the situation... personally I don't care about the incest fetish but I find stupid that they treat fictional characters the same as real people, the only question I could have to people who defend that is "are you stupid?". I would bet my last dollar that the percentage of donors who are in it solely for the incest is quite small; I'd be legitimately surprised at anything above 5%.
It's not particularly about the incest thing. You're right, people that play this game only for the incest part must be like 5 %. But there's a difference between playing only for it and thinking that it adds a lot to the game. Honestly, I don't really care much about the incest thing, but the fact that the mom's or sister's scenes are better than the rest, plus that you can "form" a bond with them, you are a lot more emotionnally involved with those characters than with anyone else in the game. Personnally, if the mom isn't the mom anymore, and if the sister isn't the sister anymore, I won't play that game anymore (Or at least not without a patch or something). And I think people like me are more than 5 %.
I don't think the scenes need to be changed at all, nor the relationships between the protagonist and the sister/mother. The change to step-whatever would be very minor and could easily be written in as a minor detail, i.e. the protagonist is the dead dad's son with a failed marriage, but he married the step-mother when he was a baby so they're just as close with nothing different but names. I can't see how the dynamic would change enough to alter the family relationships just because of blood, but I respect that for some people it was the only factor that made the relationships interesting.
You would be wrong, as Mom/Sister + your best friend/his mom are two that rank high in requested content, and have been worked on most extensively.
I'm surprised at how people seem to need the incest to enjoy the game (it has great art and H-scenes which are enough for me and, I suspect, many others). I'm not denying that there are many who subscribe to STS for the incest, but I would need serious convincing to believe that the ratio of patrons who donate because the programming/art/h-scenes are good vs. patrons who donate solely for the incest aspect is low enough to spell the ending for the game. I know that incest is highly requested, but I doubt it's a requirement for success.
Creators are not allowed to create a patch that adds back the incest content as Patreon will check their site for it.

You just don't understand how fast patrons will turn on someone if there's even a hint of their favorite thing being neglected, much less removed.
I think STS is novel enough and high-quality enough to overcome that, but I suppose I'll agree to disagree.
Exactly. Its arguably the most polished Renpy H-game in development.
Polished is probably the last word I would use for STS.
