Re: A Demon's Answer to the Heavens (Prudence;Termite)

Pru's words certainly seemed to make Kat's heart sink, but all the more, she shook her head. "It was bound to happen eventually. We're sticking our necks out already, so a Chosen mucking about is bound to be noticed. Now, you no doubt have no choice but to stick your neck out further, hopefully into a better position to deal with some higher-up angel." she said, before looking to the scene of chaos, and chuckling. "Might want to figure out what to do about the crowd too. You want to be miss goody two horns, don't forget who you associate with~" Kat cooed.

In the background, the church collapsed, killing the broken man inside.

The entire town looked suitable for an undead invasion. In fact, as they pillaged and escorted the mermaids to the boat, Pru and Prudence no doubt following as well, once they were leaving the beach, Prudence would detect a peculiar soul. Amidst the buildings, a girl with a black mournful dress walked the dock, watching the ship leave. Her hair was a sickly green, and her eye patch was visible from even that far away from the shore. She didn't linger, and simply returned to the town. Prudence felt no threads come her way.

"I guess we missed one. Looks like she somehow became a mamono in the mess, perhaps she died." Katerina declared. Seras nodded. "I saw an executioner's platform while pillaging, with various corpses dangling, a fresh batch of heretics. One was missing from the noose. So I think you're right." Yuri made a pitiful noise. "Aw... The poor girl is probably scared and confused." she said, while Prudence and Kat had advanced enough vision to know that wasn't the case. That girl's face was filled with Determination. No doubt the very same kind that kept her alive... Or rather, kept her from leaving this world.

Re: A Demon's Answer to the Heavens (Prudence;Termite)

"Hm." While they had no intention of stopping the pirates Kat had realized that the twins didn't exactly condone such outlandish behavior. The march of captives, the humiliation of the citizens, the utter debauchery running rampant all around them, it all struck a chord with the human. She was quite familiar with these tactics. Hell, she'd been victimized by them when she was nothing more than a mere mortal. It left a rather sour taste within her soul whenever she saw it, and that taste was strong enough to bleed into her other half no matter how demonic that soul could possibly be. It was why the pair never participated in any of the raids back when they didn't have the bounty on Pru's head, and it was why she refused to participate right then and there.

But she was these women's caption, now. Perhaps she could do something about this after all... "Seras, how will the crew's captives be treated?" But not this moment. The girls had fought for their prizes, and it wouldn't be right to take that from them. But that didn't mean she couldn't do something later, and if she was going to act she'd need to know just what these men had waiting for them.

No matter how the woman answered the Prus would leave their thoughts to themselves until the mermaids were secured and the ship was underway. As they departed a rather peculiar soul caught their attention, and a look back revealed what appeared to be an undead pirate watching them pass before the girl simply turned and strode back into town. It was a rather peculiar sight, the explanation for the girl's appearance evoking a sense of pity from Yuri, but Pru knew better. That souls was resolute. She refused to accept her death, and in that she was able to continue her existence even if she no longer remained human. Such determination would let that girl survive wherever she went, and given enough time she may prove to be a force to be reckoned with.

So why not make use of that. "Are there any superstitions concerning the undead on the seas?" There were few things a sailor kept sacred, but of those were tales of misfortune and misadventure. Tales of fools who ignored the warnings of their crew and ended up paying a price once all was said and done. It was sage advice for those who sailed the seas, and any commander who chose to ignore them would often find themselves without a crew to man their ship. And for good reason. Most of those tales could be tracked back to nothing more as hearsay, just sailors bullshitting sailors for the fun of it, but when certain people were allowed to board, or when certain treasure was taken, well those tales tended to actually prove true. It was a curious thing, and no one could tell whether that truth was brought on by the crew itself or whether Fate chose to flex her sense of humor, but either way a superstition should always be taken seriously.

If anything rose that could prove dangerous then Prudence would stop that very moment, but if nothing did then a single thread would unwind from the human and start heading back toward shore. It was quite similar to the threads she'd seen that night, the pair that trailed out into the town and simply observed, and if an angel and a crow could use them why couldn't a Chosen? So that thread began to search, the tip winding from street to street until the newly undead was found. It would make contact, and unless someone cautioned against doing so Prudence herself would ask the reborn girl a simply question. Would you like to join us?

Re: A Demon's Answer to the Heavens (Prudence;Termite)

Asked, Seras merely glanced at Prudence and smirked. "That's none of my concern. I have nothing but opinions to give on how people treat their belongings. And right now, I don't even have an opinion to give. Is it a problem that the racist men of this town will be sold as slaves?" she inquired. "You'll have to take that up with the crew who fought for their share. I'm wiser than that, though, so don't expect me to back you up against the crew's wishes." she stated firmly.

Then, aboard the boat, most of the crew were inside the hull of the ship, making a loud ruckus of debauchery as they toyed with the prisoners of war. Some men were even screaming in pain and/or anger. It was a cacophony of twisted celebration below. Seras seemed immune to it all, standing on deck while having ordered a pair of deck hands to tie up her own prize, a skinny looking healthy blond boy in her own cabin. "Undead?" she inquired. "It's the same reaction no matter where you go. It's unnatural, and the undead disease only spreads by those who have ill intent against the world they live in. No superstitions. Undead are real, and they're a scourge. Thankfully most dangerous necromancers are handled by the order themselves, so they don't become anyone else's problem... Why?" she inquired, unaware of what Prudence saw.

Her thread searched, and while prodding around, she felt the thread firmly and intensely aggressively grabbed as if the person who found it was filled with malicious intent. Like that, Prudence saw the sickly figure slowly alter her shape, green hair given a blue color as magic began to flow through the body, weaving done to fill the holes in the shell that housed the soul. Life returned to this girl, until Prudence saw the girl in question in full force. In addition, the girl didn't hide well her essence, as Prudence could see a familiar aura gushing forth from the seems, from the cracks in her body made by lethal wounds. The power of the god that gifted select few with mighty shards, those whom she thought would change the world the most, for good or bad.

Emotionless, the girl looked at Prudence's vision granting thread with a dead stare. Her words reached the girl, and at first, was met with silence. She held tight to Prudence's thread, seemingly with her bare hand and all the magical threads that came forth to grasp it. Magic flowed everywhere from the girl's body, as if showing Prudence something and wanting her to watch. Threads rushed forth and attacked the corpses left behind from the battle. Fallen women and few men uncaptured, left for dead. Magic filled their soul departed bodies, and suddenly the began to move again, rising awkwardly, with slumped figures. "No. Join *Me.*" she replied. "I could use more bodies." she announced, before Prudence felt malicious threads suddenly racing along her thread to find her. It filled her body and soul with a sense of immediate danger, as if a truly dark and malicious eldritch force was coming to take her if she didn't cut the link immediately.

Though, whether or not Prudence was too taken by the shock to react, quickly Yuri intervened and cut the link the moment she saw something odd with her third eye. To anyone else, it just looked like a sudden flash happened in front of Prudence, as if an unseen blade struck through the air and cut the wind itself. "I don't think she's a friend." Yuri declared. Then, the crew watched from the side of the ship as the town seemed to come alive again, only with the undead. As if the girl had been waiting for this opportunity, and Prudence gave her the chance she needed to raise her undead army. With the power of the chosen, she forced the soulless carcasses to live again. "This is order territory, so it's their problem." Seras said flatly. "Leave her, I don't think doing the tango with her is remotely a good idea."

Re: A Demon's Answer to the Heavens (Prudence;Termite)

"It's not." But even as the twins agreed the rose and turned their full attention toward the shore. The fact that the town itself was coming alive with undead was proof of that girl's power even without everything the pair had just seen, and though they were incredibly grateful for Yuri for cutting that connection they looked far too focused to pay it any heed. "But we may not be able to ignore her. She's a Chosen."

The twin minds sharpened themselves until they were one, and their unified voice spoke as much as they considered what could be done. At this moment the crew was quite distracted with their prizes, and even if that could be broken the fact that they'd just finished a battle would most likely leave the lot of them somewhat winded. To lead them into a confrontation against a rising undead army would simply give the enemy's mistress even more bodies to work with. There was no way to face that girl right now.

But that didn't mean they could do nothing. "I want all the captives brought on deck. Now." There was something in their shared voice that practically demanded obedience, and nothing more would be said until that order was fulfilled. As they waited the twins stood solemnly by the held, and once everyone was gathered she would look over each of the men brought onboard. Those who were tied directly to the Order were identified and brought forward. "There was a woman. Green hair. Eye patch. Recently killed for being a heretic." Thought the demon spoke both halves of Prudence watched for even the slightest hint of recognition. Those that showed would be ordered to follow into the Captain's cabin, their captors invited along to watch over their prize, and everyone else would be dismissed to continue whatever debauchery had been interrupted.

With her targets somewhat isolated and kept under very close watch Prudence allowed herselves to get extremely serious as they turned toward the gathered men. "I want to know everything about that girl that was killed. Name, crime, executioner, whatever little detail you can find."

Re: A Demon's Answer to the Heavens (Prudence;Termite)

Seras rose a brow to Prudence's demand, but took one glance at the fact that there was now an ominous, even if very slight, green glow coming from the town before deciding that Prudence had a very good reason. She ventured to the middle of the ship, and shouted very loudly. "If you're in yer skivvies, pull em up down there! And bring the recently captive dogs up to open air lest ye face the captain's wrath!" Seras warned the crew. Then, like a well oiled machine, loosely dressed crew haphazardly redressed came up, with their male captives that didn't even get the honor of being redressed. One was even walking to deck with something seemingly lodged in his ass by the zealous pirate he was with, and he didn't look happy about it.

Then, Pru made her statement, describing the necromancer now raising a small militia of undead from the town's aftermath, no doubt regretting the lack of pirate casualties to add to her numbers. As soon as she said it, everyone gave a reaction. It seemed the whole town knew. Though, if Pru was looking for a particular reaction, she found one in the form of a guard chuckling when Pru announced her fate of death and reason of heresy. He almost seemed to get a twisted satisfaction out of it. This led to him being selected, one would assume, and brought to her cabin in nothing but his skin. Though the crewmate seemed to give Pru privacy to deal with this particular Order soldier.

The man, when asked, just sneered when Prudence inquired as to her nature. "Agatha Crane, though now she calls herself Valdis. She was just a little whore girl that dabbled in too much she shouldn't have. I'm the one who tortured her, interrogated her, and killed her, if you really wanted to know." he announced, as if waiting for the angels to come and deliver upon him his trophy for murdering a youth that dabbled in the occult. Though he only seemed to end his explanation with that. Seras came with Pru, and decided to aid the situation by gripping the man by his hair and pressing the knuckle of her fist somewhere in the back of his head, causing the man to suddenly give an uproar of pain before Seras threw him to the ground. "Full story, if you wouldn't mind. If I don't feel like you said everything, I'm just as into mutilation as you are, boy." she declared with malicious intent, the grin on her face saying that she was ready to pounce and start tearing him up, with a desire for refusal of cooperation.

Contrary to her wishes though, he just gave the two women a dirty look of anger and disgust, before explaining what he knew. Apparently, he was someone close enough to Agatha, or now Valdis, to give a full bio. One that Yuri wrote down for future reference as Seras brought her in to do so.

Yuri said:
Agatha Crane, a girl that was like any other human girl in the Order for the first 14 years of her life. Mostly talentless, and only well practiced in being a house wife. Her parents even knew who to make her husband, based on their wishes and hers as well. Though, at that age of 14, her parents met with a terrible fate. It began with her mother, who was attacked by a mamono, and turned into one. She became a lesser succubus, and despite being a demon, her husband still professed love to her. Though the town just viewed her as being a parasitic entity using the situation to it's advantage to feed and grow into a massive threat. The Order Soldiers were sent by the church, and found Agatha cooking food in the kitchen while the mother was draining the father's soul. Promptly, they were both killed, and Agatha taken by the church to see if she would turn as well.

Whatever happened in that house, it made Agatha very bitter towards the church. Despite their best efforts, she refused all of their teachings, and even renounced her faith in God, calling her and her angels the real monsters. She frequently tried to escape from Order captivity, and was discovered to be learning how to weave in secret. At the age of 16, the Order only found her case getting worse. So, they decided to call in someone with experience in rehabilitating those who lost their way... Such was the man Prudence had before her. With a grin, he described the pleasure he took in torturing her in every way possible for every instance she had of disobedience. He whipped her, he kicked her, he choked her. He didn't even leave it with physical abuse either, adding in mental abuse, declaring her path that which will turn her into a mamono, and offering to 'show' her what it'd be like to be one. In short, he raped her. Repeatedly. All while thinking reverse psychology would turn her away from the succubus curse.

However, no matter what he did, she didn't improve in the Order's eyes. He only made her rage burn more. It was brought to a point when the man discovered she had actually adapted to the succubus curse at some point, and used his careless violation as a means to get powerful. She found a way to become a mamono on her own. However she did it, she found herself able to weave with massively increased proficiency. The curse itself weaving into her intelligence and granting her immense power, culminated with the fact that she was harboring a chosen soul the entire time without even the Church being wise to it. She easily broke free of her captivity, and marched to where her parents had died. The Order Soldiers scrambled upon her breakout, and discovered her trying to raise the dead. She was trying to bring her mother and father back to life. Though, when the soldiers arrived, they found her without resistance, and distraught. She didn't understand the fundamentals of a soul, and only revived corpses. She was so struck by the reality of finality that she didn't put up a fight.

The church was left with no option, they had a mamono on their hands, and one that practiced absolutely forbidden heresy. She was taken to the executioner's chopping block, and by all rights looked ready to join her family, until she saw her executioner was none other than her torturer. In a sudden fury, she declared to the town. "THIS IS NOT THE END! YOU WILL ALL PAY, FOR EVERYTHING!" her voice roared through the town, before her head was chopped clean off.

It seemed like that was the end... Until the town had no body to bury. Agatha's corpse had seemingly picked up it's own head, and bandaged it back on, before visiting the graveyard and raising friends and family of old to attack their home.

The Order defeated her single handedly, having fought far worse than what Agatha could bring upon them. But at the end of the conflict, Agatha was gone. They had no idea she was biding her time, waiting for her chance at vengeance. When Prudence and Seras' pirates attacked, they left behind that ruined town. Her chance presented itself.

The last thing the man said to Prudence was that upon the wake of the first undead attack, she declared her name: "I am Valdis, and I'm going to collect what I'm due from your corpses" According to the man, she desires nothing more than to see God and her Angels fall into ruin.

Re: A Demon's Answer to the Heavens (Prudence;Termite)

For a while neither Prudence knew how to react. The actions of the church were appalling, even if she'd seen something similar when she was young and far, far worse ever since becoming a demon, and that left her feeling a rather odd sympathy for the undead girl that had tried to consume her. A fair amount of rage was blooming at this soldier's glee as he recounted the exploits that drove Valdis to absolutely loathe the Order, and a part of Prudence wanted to just grab the bastard and toss him back to the town to give that girl the chance to exact whatever heinous revenge she could in the most painful way possible.

But that bitch tried to EAT her, and Pru simply couldn't ignore that. It left the demon feeling affronted and angry, parts of her wanting to lash out at Valdis and the bastard that tortured her and anyone else that was trying to stand in her way. And behind all that she felt...fear. Valdis herself was another Chosen, and unlike Prudence she had far more experience tapping into her potential. Just that threat of those threads had her soul cringing back as if some otherworldly abomination was reaching out to pluck her essence from its shell and turn it into some twisted imitation of the woman she was. That shock had left her unable to raise her hand to defend herself, and if Yuri hadn't been there Prudence wasn't sure what would have happened once those threads had reached her core. Could she actually fight such a monster? Could she face another Chosen when they had that much strength and the determination to put it to use? And now that she knew what had created Valdis did she even want to?

All those thoughts left the twins frowning as they shared the same headache, and despite whatever wishes they had to deal with the asshole that created this entire mess ultimately they wanted some time alone to simply rest. Their emotions were a little strung at this point, and they needed to find some bit of serenity so they could order those feelings and come to some kind of resolution. So they kicked the bastard out. Literally. The demon grabbed him by the back of his neck and planted her boot on his ass before pushing him back out onto deck and back into the hands of the woman who captured him. They were done with him for the moment, and he could just head back below decks with the others. But before he was taken she had a bit of advice for his captor. "Make sure he gets a little extra attention. He deserves it." For once she actually didn't care how sadistic one soul could be to another.

With that out of the way the pair returned to their quarters. Everyone else was still there and most likely waiting to see what the two would do, but they would be disappointed when the twins simply sighed and turned their gaze out to a nearby window and stared out to sea. As chance would have it the town was still in view at that point, and the caused a single thought to run through their shared mind. I did that.

The woman accepted her prize back with glee despite it all. It seems her malicious plans only were amplified after all was said and done. Going to her quarters, Prudence would be left alone, even Seras herself telling the crew that she wasn't to be disturbed until the woman herself emerged. With that being said, the town's glow would remain green until it vanished into the horizon. Valdis busy at work.

Eventually Undine's temple would come into view, if Prudence waited. Prudence would have days to speak with her comrades how she wished. Regardless, they would return with their task complete, the temple dwellers now aware that demons rescued mermaids from a gruesome fate. While it helped, it did not fix the racism born towards demons. They were allowed to walk freely without seals, though the populace was far from friendly. Rather, quiet, and observing. As if waiting to see the traitorous desire in their eyes.

Re: A Demon's Answer to the Heavens (Prudence;Termite)

It was only once that glow had finally faded that the twins started to stir, and after a few more moments they left their cabin without any fanfare whatsoever. If anyone was waiting for them they would receive a nod, but unless their immediate attention wasn't needed then the two would venture below decks and seek out the rescued mermaids. Prudence wanted to see how they were faring now that they had the chance to sit and rest. More than likely the women were probably well on their way to recovery if not fully healed, but the one that had been exposed to that fire probably needed a little more care. Those kinds of burns from that kind of flame tended to leave some rather persistent wounds, at least for demons, and that poor girl probably didn't fare that much better since every being on this island has a touch of the Curse.

Of course that most likely wouldn't take too long, and once the pair was done with their check up they'd return to the deck and let out another large sigh. They were finally starting to settle after that mess involving Valdis, and they were starting to feel a little more sociable. It was at that point that they managed to spy Alvin moving about as if he owned the ship. So they approached him. That man was cunning. Anything involving him would require their attention, and that was just what they needed. Better to focus their shared mind on something less heavy then the undead army growing in their wake.

I'm also up for starting Pru's hullabaloo over in Undine's Temple if we need to do that to keep pace with the other threads.

Re: A Demon's Answer to the Heavens (Prudence;Termite)

The crew didn't seem to understand what just happened as much as Prudence did. Their spirits were high, their recent victory the only thing to account for. So she was greeted with smiles and celebratory cheers and mugs full of alcohol raised in her favor. They either didn't care, or were ignorant to the undead menace they helped unleash.

Down below, the mermaids were apparently put with the loot. Though Seras apparently made Katerina fashion out a tub for the mermaids to be. It wasn't too deep, just enough to allow them basic movement and so they could relax in their true forms without spending any magic to be human. They were also served some seaweed and shrimp to eat, which they enjoyed heartily as it appeared the order was starving them. Many were sharing hands, using magic to sooth each other and heal wounds, tending to each others wrists. It was in stark contract to the scene before, where they looked miserable. Now, they were smiling, and some even looked as good as new again. Others still looked pale, but much better still. The one who suffered the burns had many arounds her, multiple mermaids working in unison to heal her. Prudence arrived when they were done. She looked like she hadn't a scratch on her. If you weren't there, you wouldn't know what she suffered. Though that was just at a glance. The spots where the flames touched were still slightly pale. The angelic magic was hard to remove, as it active tried to purify her of her nature as a mamono. Though it seemed that no matter how much purification it did, the mermaid didn't change. One of the rare species that hardly even noticed the curse coming through, as even before Persephone became the Lord of Hell, Mermaids were often falling in love with humans.

Their smiles weren't just for smile's sake though. Indeed Alvin went where he pleased, and he was in his underwear bathing in the warm water with the lot of mermaids, who were quite pleased to have him around. "Ah, Prudence! Don a bikini and join us, yes?" he invited. "The girls have been wanting to meet their savior~" he cooed with a wink, while offering cuddles to three mermaids at once. Two were using his arms as neck rests, and a third was using his body as a chair. Just the position he was in looked like it was pure suffering and discomfort, but he held a stoic expression to it all. Though when he said savior, the girls turned and all smiled. "Oh, you were the one who rescued us!" a mermaid declared, her blue hair shimmering because it was wet in the candle lit hull. Another mermaid with purple hair waved, her face the same as the one who was giving comfort to the distresses mermaids. "I must say, you are a very daring individual, to take on the Order like that and save our lives. I don't care if you did it with pirates either, we never really have a problem with pirates anyway, always seeking our good graces. Hehehe." she chuckled. The superstitious pirates always trying to not anger the seas. Well, hardly superstitious, as they were vindicated long ago.

Re: A Demon's Answer to the Heavens (Prudence;Termite)

The twins couldn't help but let out a small hum of mirth once they found Alvin in his new role as furniture. The thought that he'd come down here for some other reason and somehow ended up as a body rest for the others was just too amusing. But that didn't keep them from smiling at the man's offer, and after a quick glance all around them they both answered as one. "Just a moment~" In that moment Prudence managed to conjure a folding screen to hide them as they immediately started undressing. Of course it was thin enough to show their bodies in stark relief as a candle just happened to be right behind them, but they either didn't notice or didn't care as their dresses ended up draped over the top only to be quickly joined by their undergarments.

With the both of them hidden and yet still quite obviously nude the human brought a hand up to chin and started tapping in thought. A sudden flourish of her fingers brought some sort of swimwear to life, but at that point no one could really tell just what she was wearing. Another flourish draped her sister in the same, but a tsk-tsk-tsk from the demon was enough to voice her displeasure. That caused the human to slightly cock her head to the side, but after a moment she answered with "If that's what you want..." before a slight flick had most of the fabric on the demon vanishing.

At that the two were ready, and they walked out to reveal just what they'd chosen. For Prudence she wore a standard bikini made to look a little more complicated as if her top was nothing more than multiple strips of cloth somehow held in place, and to complement it she had a small wrap that circled her waist and mostly hid one thigh and completely revealed the other. The entire ensemble was tasteful yet form fitting, and it perfectly fit her nature as a fashionable flirt. But Pru chose to be far more daring. She wore a bikini, this was true, and it barely hid her assets as a bikini did, but realistically it was nothing more than a pair of strips that came together between her legs. Almost her entire body was on display, and from the side one would think she was nude, and considering the way she slightly jiggled with each step it seemed like she soon would be. But somehow the sling managed to stay in place, and with that the pair made their way to the tub.

The demonic Pru found herself a spot and sighed with content as she slid into the warm water, but Prudence was distracted by the multitude of mermaids working to help their burned sister recover from those purifying flames. The girl looked great considering what she'd gone through, but those patches of pale skin were curious. It made the human wonder if perhaps there were still a few traces of the angelic magic lingering, and if so she wanted a better look at them. "May I try something?" A careful weaving should allow her to extract those traces of threads, and given that they came from Patience herself there was a lot she could learn if she could actually pull them free.

That distraction left the demon to act as the socialite, and at the purple-haired mermaid's accusation that they were quite daring to take on the Order Pru simply dipped her head before lounging back to relax against the tub's side. "Think nothing of it. It's not the first time I've caused a little mayhem in Order territory. Besides, someone needed to give them a lesson, and I was more than happy to give it to them."

"Oh, sure. Just be careful of her strands of magic, angelic weaves are adept at burning all things of succubus nature." she said. Though as a human, Prudence should be fine. And so, she touched the threads with her own to examine them. It seemed to be of the same type of angelic holy fire that the winged valkyrie are known for. Impossible to incapacitate with unless the creature is quite tough, the weaves are made to break apart and destroy mamono energy. A strangely genius design that Prudence would note was different from the last time she may have seen it, a pretty common thread to see since Angelic presence was everywhere. This was something new, and it was potent enough to put an unknown to the ultimate test. If they lived, then the magic found no mamono energy to destroy. Otherwise, they'd be incinerated.

Re: A Demon's Answer to the Heavens (Prudence;Termite)

With the threads in her metaphysical grasp Prudence took her time to give them a thorough inspection. And she found them to be somewhat... "Devious..." It was strikingly similar to the magics she'd seen before, the kind that destroyed all it touched. But there was something different, something that made it unique, and this piqued the woman's interest as she pulled those threads free of the mermaid and held them within her bare hands. "You could even consider it genius..." Because as she held it she wasn't hurt in the slightest. These threads were designed to splinter and destroy, to consume mamono energy and grow stronger until they'd burned every last trace of the Curse into ash. But as a human Prudence didn't have any of the succubus energy within her, even if she shared a link with her other half. It caused those threads to remain dormant, meaning that this was completely safe for humanity.

So what did that mean? Well, this came from Patience. These were her threads, maybe even her own design. This meant that she didn't want to harm humanity, even if she had hollowed out that hero's soul and left him as nothing more than a puppet. The angel had at least some compassion. The only question was how far it extended. And by the looks of things not very far. Sure, she didn't want to cause any humans undue harm, but she still participated in the virtual destruction of a man's spirit, even if he asked for it. And she obviously had no compassion for the mamono, otherwise this fire wouldn't exist. Or that damned weapon Patience was known to wield. It destroyed indiscriminately, even if the target survived the first blow. It almost made Prudence wonder if the weapon and this magic were based on the same principal.

But there was another question: How could she put this to use? There was nothing she could do with the threads themselves, so unless someone else wanted to inspect them she would simply unravel them safely to prevent anyone else from suffering in case some accident occurred. But she did know how this was created. She may even be able to reproduce this flame herself. It would be a vile weapon, especially since it was designed to make someone suffer as they perished, but a weapon nonetheless. And maybe something more... Since she knew how it was constructed in one way maybe she could recreate it as something else entirely...

Re: A Demon's Answer to the Heavens (Prudence;Termite)

The threads woven could be imitated, she was not wrong, but their accuracy would be questionable. Any mental attempt at recreation was met with flaws, mainly the issue of ability to make a thread 'know' what kind of material to destroy, and it wasn't a matter of intelligence, but a matter of creating a thread of such material that reacted negatively when introduced to mamono energy. The same could be done for humans and angels, who're made of the same holy thread.

However, another important observation was made when she linked the thread to Patience: It perhaps wasn't made by her. The threads that govern who someone is each have their own characteristic, such that a skillful eye can discern one person's magic from another even if they all weave the same thing. Thus is why it's called an art form, it's very unique each to their own artist. And the person who gave that Hero the life he had was not the same one that made the fire. They were two very different people. If anything, the style behind the fiery weaves wasn't what Patience represented. Rather, it seemed like something carefully made with a certain purpose in mind. The compassion behind it was true, and it seemed to perfectly and elegantly slip through Prudence utterly harmlessly. As if someone went through great pain to perfect a thread that wouldn't hurt those they deemed innocent. An act unlike any Order Inquisition. The one who made these threads held a kindness in their hearts, that much Prudence figured out on her own, but they were not too kind. It was an odd duality of sadism and kindness that didn't seem to fit well together. Conflicting views, or maybe one that truly saw mamono as evil. But the amount of pain inflicted was far too hateful.

"Prudence?" Alvin inquired, brushing some of Prudence's hair off of her face. "Why are you zoning out?" he inquired.

Re: A Demon's Answer to the Heavens (Prudence;Termite)

A very slight tilt of the head was made as Prudence made her little observation about Patience and the threads the human was now holding. She wasn't sure why she hadn't picked up on it earlier, but Patience hadn't created that fire. It belonged to somebody else. The compassion this unknown individual held was still correct, as well as the apparent hatred they held for all things mamono. But who were they? Where did they reside? What purpose did they have? There were too many questions surrounding this unknown weaver, and though there were a few possibilities out there, one of which put Prudence on edge, but without any actual proof the girl decided to just let the matter drop. She'd learned what she could from these threads, and though there was no telling what she could do with that knowledge simply having it would have to do.

"Hm?" She gave an inquisitive little start the moment Alvin brushed away that stray lock, but once she realized she'd been a little too focused she blushed in embarrassment. "Sorry, just pondering. I learned a lot about this fire..." With that she let the threads she was playing with remanifest, but after that little demonstration she made sure she deconstructed it in its entirely along with whatever lingering threads remained of its source. "I'm just not sure what to do with that knowledge. Whoever created it has compassion for humanity, but what it does to mamono is too cruel to be anything but sadistic. If we meet this being I don't think we'll have any chance at reason." Which meant they'd have a fight, and if this was the type of weapon they'd use then that fight would be brutal.

"Compassion and sadism?" Alvin hummed. "Sounds like there's reason to be found in a being capable of compassion. I think so anyway." he chuckled. "Especially if it's a pretty angel. Since as we all know, pretty girls couldn't possibly be evil." He said with amusement, actually sitting closer to the human Prudence and wrapping an arm around her shoulder, making all the other mermaids blush and seemingly back up with respect for the sight, as if opting to say indeed that Alvin was hers, at least in that moment, as the one he chose in the bath. Though to answer her question, one mermaid decided to answer.

The eldest of them. It seemed a staple among mermaids to sport green or bright sky blue hair to be sure, none holding the typical hair color that any human would, at least not naturally. The eldest, who helped try to guide her fellows through the peril at least so they wouldn't die in awful terror, offered her piece on the mystery that Prudence tried to solve with the threads. "There's nothing to do with such magic." she said simply. Her face was firm, and it seemed she was of the popular opinion that anything angelic in nature was simply vile or evil and was a force to be avoided. "Best cast it away and do off with it. Such poisonous magic will only bring more suffering, when it's just better to kill and be done with it. It's simply meant to make the survivors and witnesses to that awful weave spread the fear of the angels to themselves and others. It's ill fit for clean hands." she stated firmly.

Alvin shrugged. "I don't know anything about magic, but I reckon that the angels are relying rather heavily on this apparent genius weaver. Normally, it's impossible to reach Heaven. But, they're attacking soon, no? What if someone slipped inside their realm in the midst of the chaos, and decided to meet with this strange and unique weaver?" he questioned. "I'm a shrewd gambler, as you know Prudence. And I'm betting that the little question inside of your beautiful mind will find vindication when you locate this particular angel."

They were both right. In their own way. The mermaid elder was certainly correct in what that flame was designed to do. It was a cruel weapon, one designed to utterly annihilate a soul and instill terror into those that witnessed it. And as far as Prudence could tell it had absolutely no redeeming qualities other than its ability completely ignore everything but its intended target. She had no reason and no desire to destroy a soul, not unless she was in the most dire of circumstances where it was either kill or be killed.

And then there was Alvin. Prudence had a feeling he was being rather sarcastic when he said that beautiful girls could never be evil. Jezebel, Baphomet... Wrath... Hell's tits, Prudence actually shuddered a bit at that last one. It actually made her cuddle a little closer to the man just to feel some comfort. But even then there was some compassion to be found in whatever angel created that flame. And if that weaver had at least that much compassion for any being then maybe there was some chance to reason with them...

So when Alvin suggested they sneak into Heaven and find her the twins actually sat up in shock. They hadn't even considered invading the holy realm, and if he was right and that fire was that important to the celestial forces then cutting it off at its source could probably save them all. But there was a problem with that, and as the human considered it she took a rather meaningful look at its source: her sister. "If we were to cross dimensions like that then I'd need to bring her along, and I'm not sure how well he can stay hidden if we bring along a demon. And there's no way I could leave her behind. I was uncomfortable just being separated when we went to save the mermaids. Extending that across realms would be far worse..."

Alvin rose a brow. "Kat would sometimes brag about how convincing her disguises were. I don't know anything about weaving, but you can't just disguise as two angels?" he inquired.

The mermaid elder nodded. "He's... Got an idea. Granted, all secrets are revealed when one searches your soul with a thread. But visually, you can appear to be angels. I heard it was something demon and angel spies did during the war when it started. But overtime, the borders of God's realm have strengthened, and even incursions that result thanks to Baphomet, I hear are thwarted. Unlike back then, they might not expect spies to slip in."

Alvin smirked. "I'm good with words, if you want to take me too. Maybe I could be your human you're going to convert? I can be a good boy when the time is right." he chuckled. "You might be surprised to know that I do my homework. The places I've been, it's not hard to find out what the Order does or how they think. I need only be some half-monster human that proved himself in the eyes of the lord by slaughtering some innocent mamono, like a pack of wererabbits trying to seduce me with apparent innocence, and they'll gobble that garbage right up. Heaven loves it when you prepare a dish of loyalty and heartless murder." he claimed.

The mermaids shrinked at his words. "I'm just kidding. Rabbits can be grumpy but they're made for cuddling." he chuckled.

"That's definitely a thought..." And a very good one. Alvin has proven the he can charm just about anyone he sees fit, and though he may have to act all meek and humble if they took him to Heaven the twins were fairly certain that he would still manage to win the hearts of any angel that happened to cross their path. It may even help as a distraction, the cute half-monster boy grabbing the angels' attention and leaving them too flustered to give the twins a hard look. "I'm starting to like it..."

"The only question is how well we can pull it off." The demon actually stood in the tub, water cascading down her body in such a way that it looked like it was caressing her and inviting everyone else to do the same. But even then she seemed determined to try something, and after a bit her body started to change. It started out as nothing more than a slight ripple, her skin and muscles acting as if they were testing their limits while trying to stay completely still, but after there was a slightly sickening crack. Stress lines formed along her horns, but before they could shatter the bone simply receded into her skull before they completely vanished. Her tail did much the same, the same crunch from earlier heard as those bones collapsed and were reabsorbed into Pru's body, and once both of those traits had vanished her wings twitched. This seemed to take some bit of actual concentration, but eventually some feathers started to sprout and grow over them. In the same instance the membrane spanning the wings fingers pulled back only to be engulfed in Pru's new plumage, and after a bit she stretched herself out and appeared to be a rather slutty angel with dark wings. "Can't do anything about the outfit, but I'm not worried about that right now. Aside from the color how do I look?"

Alvin started from Prudence's head, and looked all the way down. "Nice~ You look ready to come to the dark side." he chuckled.

She gave a half chuckle, but then inspiration struck and she had to go with it. "Rejoice, mortal! You have been chosen!" With that she slid to his other side, the man now sandwiched between the Prudi, but though she spoke with the utmost dignity the way she started leaning into him suggested something else entirely. "Your deeds have not gone unnoticed, and your dedication to the salvation of humanity shall be rewarded!" She looked like she was ready to crawl into his lap, her reward obvious to everyone watching. "So rejoice, human, and embrace the light!" Her wings started to fold around them, a barrier to give them the illusion of privacy even if everyone would see what her body would do to him, and with that illusion in place she started to lean forward to give him a kiss...

Only to be interrupted by a splash to the face. "All right, enough of that. No need to go all melodramatic." At that the disguised demon actually giggled and went back to simply sitting beside Alvin, her nature forcing her to embrace him as closely as possible even with everyone else watching them. "You're just jealous~"
