Re: The Adbot's Revenge!

Shrike stays silent for a few seconds, running through implications in her mind, then shrugs and smiles herself. "You go do that then, I'll watch your little inadvertant warning system here."

"Fair enough, and thank you."

He turns, steels himself then does exactly what he said he was going to do, a light popping and crackling noise audible for a moment, then silence. A quick look, should she choose to, would assure her he was fine.

Re: The Adbot's Revenge!

Shrike does not turn to check on Siphon. Having seen him take a direct hit from a lightning bolt, she doesn't see any danger that a light socket could pose to him. Instead, she focuses all her attention on the miniature core, watching for any audible or visual change in it.

"Sigh... All this ruckus because of this little piece of scrap?" Grave approached Shrike. He followed the girl as she made her way towards Siphon, but he didn't really listen to their conversation. He was hungry and slightly tired, and that influenced his mood.

Shrike raises an eyebrow at his tone of voice, but doesnt comment on it as she answers. "Apparently, if this thing is working, theres another live like the one we were found in within around 50 miles of it's position." She says without taking her gaze off of it.

Re: The Adbot's Revenge!

Grave paused for a moment as he searched for words. Failing to find an appropriate curse, he merely sighed. "Well, f***. Talk about bad luck. Did it detect us?" Grave wasn't in a mood for war. He was a bit lazy, after all.

Re: The Adbot's Revenge!

After a long while, Tsuki finally noticed, in her dazed state, that the others in her group were gone. She did also notice that she had received a message. Something bad, she was sure. After a moment of wondering what to do, she made her way to a main terminal in the lab, and started uploading all the important information she had downloaded from the hive ship.

Once that was done, she headed out of the labs and quickly found the others. Without a word, she just plopped down against the wall and closed her eyes.

Re: The Adbot's Revenge!

Siphon soon finished his recharging, and stood fully again. He had in fact heard Grave's question, and turned to him now to answer it. "No, they haven't detected us yet because the link isn't fully established. Think of it acting as a passive sensor right now. It can detect the ship, but not tell us exactly where, but neither can it's location be traced to us. I would have to allow the core to accept a full link to this hive for them to trace us, and vice versa. So for the moment, we're good, unless that thing suddenly decides to think for itself."

Clearly though on his face, something was bothering him, and it might be creeping out slightly towards Shrikes mind for her to see.

Re: The Adbot's Revenge!

Grave shook his head. He didn't like the situation - that was obvious. However, he was contemplating something else. Geez... I didn't come here to waste my time fighting mountains of cheap slag. I came here to seek an opponent worthy of my challenge. Should I really stay here and fight this war?

Shrike picks up on Siphon's unease, as well as Grave's disappointment. She turns to Siphon and says a single word.

"And?"

He hesitates for a moment then finally admits, "well it's just I have no idea how the hell I built that thing. I just... did. It just bothers me that I was trying one thing, and created THIS without knowing how or why. It was almost as if... Well... Almost as if buried genetic memories surfaced."

"And genetic memories are one thing, but you're worried about attitudes, predispositions, maybe even another personality buried in your genes, aren't you?" She says gravely. "You're afraid of what else might be buried inside you."

He nods. "Yes. I also begin to wonder if maybe I'm an abberation amongst my kind and not HIM."

Clearly he's referencing the other Wraith at this time.

"I need to find something that will... hurt something like me. Just in case. I doubt it will happen but... I don't want to be caught unprepared."

Shrike replies quickly, still not taking her eyes off the core. "A good rule of thumb is to take what would kill a half-breed, and square it to kill a full blood. I don't think you want to test that far however."

Re: The Adbot's Revenge!

"The problem is, after sifting through his mind, I think I'M the half breed, not him. I suppose I have something that SHOULD kill us both back home though. I'll have to pass that on to you folks a little later on."

Re: The Adbot's Revenge!

"That's what I meant. For the most case, half breeds are inferior to full bloods, unless their other half is something greater than the first, and in my own self-depreciating opinion, Humans are the bottom of the latter genetically of all the sentient races I've seen. Pretty much the only thing we'vs got going for us is adaptability."

"I suppose. Anyway like I said, I have something I'll give you ALL later that will be effective in close should the need arise..."

Re: The Adbot's Revenge!

"Huh." Was all she said out loud, still staring at the core, watching for any changes. Mentally however, was another matter.

I don't like that tone of voice you're using, you can't believe that we'd need to use something like that against you, do you?

Re: The Adbot's Revenge!

I sincerely hope not, but I can't ignore the fact that I have NO recollection of making that damn thing or how I did it. Which means that at least for a period of time I wasn't completely in control of my body. Now granted, nothing bad has come of it just yet, and hopefully won't, but I can't chance the possibility that there is some part of me that... will revert to... other tendencies. Obviously it's in our genetic nature to attack others, and gods knows I won't do that. But if I'm not aware of what is happening at times, then what does that mean? Is it simply just genetic memories surfacing and my just losing track of things when they are helping me, or will there eventually be something more to it? Try to understand, I've been searching for a long time to find out WHAT I am, and others of my kind. Now I've found one, and he seems to be dead set on killing us all. I just can't simply ignore the fact there IS a chance, albeit slim. What I have in mind is... Well, it's a toxin that will quite literally sever the brain connection of my body. It should be an almost instantaneous death. It was developed a long time ago by someone I knew as a potential weapon against me, but never implemented. All I know is, if it works how it is supposed to, if you had to use it on me in close quarters, it should drop me almost instantly. I managed to acquire a single sample of it, but have never dared try to replicate it.

Re: The Adbot's Revenge!

There is a long moment where Shrike says nothing. Physically, her eyes close and her body tenses. When she does speak, her mental tone is one of sadness.

Alright, you got me, I know what it's like to not know a part of yourself. If I'm that close though, you'll die by my blade, poison is... Offensive to me.
