I'm gonna be honest and back Kagura here too. I translated Ambrosia in my spare time there a year or two back and it nearly took me two years. This devs games are always big and detailed (its one of the reasons they're one of my favourites). But It only took Kagura a few months and it was good quality.

also the Shame Resistance vs Embarassment thing is in the OG game too, and actually happens WAY more often than you think, especially if you jump around / have different people working on the same project, and considering how RPG Maker MV works, project management between multiple people is a real pain.

Either way, having played the translation of this, it's a good job, definitely better than just a straight up MTL. Plus, having a team that is constantly translating the most popular games is a good thing, especially with some of the funds going back to the Devs.

On a semi related note, any one tried the mobile version yet to see how that is?

Yeah, people complain about it, because lots of lazy people just leave it at step one, 'run it through google translate' and don't actually look it at all for grammar and sanity checks. I'm fine with people that don't really know the language well using a machine translation as a base from which to make a simple translation of their own off of, but so many people seem to mysteriously have the energy and will to go through that first step, but not to go any further.

Translators do use J-E dictionaries and google to figure out vocabulary they dont understand. But the moment you throw a "full text" into an MTL, you've already fucked up. The "context" part has been said to death but MTL also easily messes up grammar. You think you can fix up weird grammar using your knowledge of English, but if you have no grasp of the original grammar then you won't even notice if you were misinterpreting the original Japanese lines. A "cleaned" MTL just means a stream of grammatically correct lines that make very little overall sense when you take a step back and actually think about what the hell you're reading.

No competent translator thinks editing MTL is easier or saves more time. All it does is make them waste MORE time because 99% of the time all the shit needs to be rewritten.

If your boss is paying you to give them cleaned MTL then congratulations on finding a cushy job with a such a laissez-faire boss that doesn't check your work, and I hope I never have to do business with your company.

I think there's a minor bug with the Kagura release. The massage shows the full version before the short version. IIRC it should only show the full version the first time, and the short version thereafter.

This bug was definitely fixed. Make sure you have last version 1.06

Oh, come on. Game is huge so there are bound to be some mistakes here and there. Also, Kagura is not a big publisher and afaik they are understaffed (they're always recruiting). I'm not not saying we should overlook fuckups but it would be nice if people would help instead complaining. They have Discord - why not make some screenshots of their mistakes and send it to them so they can fix it?

Honestly, this shit gets me mad. KG is doing a decent job - it's not perfect and it will never be but nobody else is publishing uncensored hentai rpgs in the west. I wish people were more supportive instead constantly shitting on KG because if they will be gone, we are back to MTL and mosaics.
Wow, really got your dick caught in a blender over that. Being a native reader(now) and doing translations in my own time, there's specific instances of things that will always get caught in MTL. Context is the thing that will always stick out, doesn't matter the language. You might call it the nuance of the writing getting lost in translation, and then of course there's the culture lingo that gets lost in MTL. That's what will always stand out.

The dirty MTL I did for this game with a decent J-E dictionary still took nearly 70hrs automated on a 3970X Threadripper, or when I was doing it by hand? Around 2-3k lines every 4-8h. While you're right about the amount of material that needs to be covered making it difficult, direct translations using OmegaT and memoQ which are two the most common translation tools used and both can plug into a variety of translators. And that's a lot of material for a single person, or even a team of translators to work on. As hamster said, even they took two years to do Ambrosia on their own. You can do a lot more projects by using a good MTL engine like DeepL, and then using a context proofer and cleaner after checking the contextual translation.

There wasn't any reason for you to get mad, just plain ass stupid to even get worked up over it. They'll do better, or worse, or fail like other translators have by taking too many projects and getting lost. Ending up with people waiting, and people getting pissed off. It was that exact scenario almost a decade ago that pushed me to learn Japanese in the first place. And if you dig back into posts on here from a decade and change ago, you'll find out why.

I think you are grossly underestimating how good machine translations can be these days. You know how sometimes a sentence in Japanese has to be essentially written in reverse when translated into English? Well I fed Google Tranlsate a short paragraph the other day and it actually reversed the sentence. I don't remember it being able to do that just a few years back.

Also why are you assuming that I have no understanding of the grammar of both languages? I wrote the original paragraph myself, and I was just using machine translate to save time.

And is there really need to insult someone just because they have a different experience in translating languages? I don't get paid to translate and it's not part of my job description. I just get told to do it because I happen to be fluent in more than one language.

Is it possible to mod a game like this? It'd be amazing to have a mod that increased the number of "special" equip slots so the MC could have more than 1 of the curses that gets equipped there
I decided to try this out today, and found that just adding more equipment slots is pretty simple to do with a small edit to the json code (plus some edits to the javascript to avoid errors from unitialized equipment slots). Two caveats though: 1) cursed equipment will lock *all* slots of the same type, and 2) Cursed Box and whatnot can't really deal with the extra slots. I'm thinking that the only easy way to handle those issues is to edit the relevant equipment so it's not actually cursed (so you can freely unequip it from one slot and re-equip it to another).

Incidentally, since I don't think it's been posted in this thread (since I've been more active on f95 than ulmf), here's a spreadsheet with a lot of potentially useful info (based on the Kagura translated version of the game) such as a list of Clothing and how to obtain each one, all of the enemy drops and their drop rates, the effects & unlock conditions for all the Sex Titles, a list of mods & unofficial game patches, etcetera. I'm guessing some of the same information is already somewhere in this thread, but I'm sure some of it isn't.

Could you offer this as a solution on Steam? Because there is only a Japanese guide. The English ones don't contain everything^^. And thanks to your solution, I finally got further^^.

I think its pretty hard to get Chinese Steam version that is in the right version to get apply the mod.

It is hard but not impossible. Chinese version 1.04 works fine with this mod.
And mod is definitely great.

Yeah, so far just the combat alone seems to be a huge improvement. I've only played through the first dungeon but it seemed much more fun since the erotic attacks were more threatening. Athough i'm a bit confused about their exact mechanics so maybe that's why, i sure hope not though since that was my biggest disappointment with the main game with how easy it was to avoid all erotic combat (if any CN speaker has a tutorial i would greatly appreciate it). The mana drain and corruption of your stats also make it more fun since it forces you to pay more attention to your items and strategy in general.

What's changed about h-attacks in combat? I recall they were a pretty weak side of the og game.

I got some more time to mess around with it and i think i already figured out the system (at least the basics) and it's pretty great. It's hard to see it on weaker enemies but as soon as you get to red renegades then it clicks. Basically you no longer just hold one button and never get fucked like in the original game. Now it's part of the challenge. You still hold X to escape but it's way more complicated and fun now. The enemy will interrupt your recovery and if you are holding X during that time then you lose progress instead of gaining it. (The moments that are safe to struggle out are indicated by the outline on the struggle bar being green). You can still immediately escape trash mobs if you are paying attention but against the stronger ones it's not so easy cause they will interrupt you. It also adds another fun layer of resource management and decision making since you can use your mana to "sing" (not sure if real translation or MTL weirdness) to immediately struggle out that way if, for example, you screwed up and got caught in a crucial moment by a strong enemy.

There is also an option of enemies getting reinforcements during the fight if you take too long or enemies piling onto you with multiple stacks if you aggro them all at once. This is for example used in the Renegades base to ambush you with multiple stacks if you trip the alarm instead of just ignoring it and walking by like in the original game. Also i noticed that there are some new items. For example in the Renegades base after defeat they put on a collar on me (that needs some kind of key to unlock, didn't figure out where/how to find it yet) and confiscated all my items which forced me to go through their base avoiding the enemies while having that collar jingle while i'm running and alert nearby mobs. Kinda feels like Skyrim with mods so i really appreciate that touch.

I'm still not sure if the corruption affects my combat abilities in a major way (cause it could probably get quickly out of control later on) but what i did notice is that when you get grabbed you can get stripped really quick so if you are going for the virgin run then that mod is gonna be a real challenge.

From what i've seen so far this mod is amazing and there is more for me to see if i can trust that feature list posted earlier. I really hope that some chad translator sees this and translates this mod to EN. I can't imagine going back to playing this game without it.

So, I had some time to take a look at what is causing the image load failures between the English and the Chinese version using a cutdown chinese web version someone posted online, turns out all instances of "uni" (EG: gnr_unigirl_003) were renamed to "school" (EG: gnr_schoolgirl_003). The maps in the mod call upon the "school" version which causes these failures, as well as a few tileset calls to incorrectly named tilesets. Alot of this can be fixed by using a program that can replace over multiple files like Notepad++ on the mod files, namely the map and tileset json files in the www/data folder.

This would mean if you had an unaltered Japanese version, the mod should work with it but it doesn't, the dlsite version fails to enter the menu unlike the english version.

Edit: Located another instance. gnr_teacher_001 is renamed to gnr_prof_001

Looks like the issue is a bit more deep seated as I've hit a snag with the new assets being loaded in from the mod. I'll need to see what files hold the file lists that read the tilesets, character sets and all that jazz.

Edit 3: False alarm. Kagura in their infinite wisdom (or the dev, who knows) decided they would rename retira_slime and retira_slime_d to retira_slim and retira_slim_d respectively.

Edit 4: I decided to just look into the image folders to save time and compare what was changed to make it Steam legal.
