I've always felt that religion is the reason we aren't killing each other in the street. without knowing the meaning of life there is no logical way to determine morals so thats something you should be thankful for. But even the staunchest person should agree that there is nothing inherantly wrong with religion, just organised religion and fanatacism.

But just knowing the meaning of life and therefore developing morals doesn't necessarily make you religious. You can believe that something is right without believing in a bearded man upstairs. To me at least, that's the difference between being spiritual and being religious.

well yeah my statement isn't perfect. But the core of it is that religion has contributed to many things that we take for granted. I mean if religion had never existed, would we have human rights?

If we didn't fight over religion, we'd fight over something else, and so we'd probably come to the same conclusion, despite it being something different we're fighting over, non?

No, that sounds about right. People like justifying and rationalising their wars, religion was just very good for that for a period. Saying religion causes wars is like saying Civilised Society causes wars, because that's why the Romans went around beating on everyone, because their way of life was better and everyone should have it.

Yeah! I would totally not troll my people by making up a religion that would not make sense to anyone with a brain and then be born into the world as the worlds biggest atheist.
