Semi-solid oils with colouring and artificial 'cheese' flavouring is not banned yet though, and can continue being sold as 'cheese products' without ever having had a trace of cheese in it
The import of actual, real cheese is also banned

Since a friend of mine noted Americans don't seem to get the news on this potentially important story
ISIS, a group even Al-Qaeda considers too extreme to work with(Or maybe they're just clashing ideologies within Islam, I'm not entirely sure), is fighting to take over Iraq.
They are, in fact, very close to an important Shia mosque, and it seems the Iraqi army does not have a lot of luck in fighting them. Things are pretty close to getting even more messed up around there

Iran (maybe) wants to cooperate with the US to get them out.
As Iran is Shi'te and ISIS is Sunni, Iran will be in a bit of trouble if Iraq is completely taken over by them
ISIS controlled cities have new rules
Among them:
All drugs and alcohol and cigarettes banned
All stealing carries a death penalty or amputation of a limb as penalty
All graves and mausoleums will be destroyed. All shrines to be destroyed as well. Possibly all monuments as well
All police officers and military personnel is to repent and join or be executed
Women not allowed outside without full body coverings. And even then, they may only leave the house when it is absolutely neccesary
All heretics and heathens are to repent or get executed
No gun ownership for anyone except ISIS members
And no organisations allowed except them. Only ISIS has the right to have any sort of gathering
For the rest, there is Sharia law only

Yeah, that sounds pretty darn good. I'm really hoping it means a brighter future for transportation, gas is crazy over here right now(Florida, it averages at around $4.00 a gallon, sometimes a bit more or less depending on the gas station). No idea how it's like in other places, but I've heard it's ridiculous all over the US.

Heh. I keep hearing Americans saying stuff like this, and it's always amusing. You really don't know how good you've got it. '-'
Here in the UK the average price per litre is currently £1.30 (£5.85 per gallon). So $9.94 per gallon. Alternatively, try a third world nation like Pakistan, where it costs approximately 58 cents more per gallon than in the US, but where the average persons wages are literally less than a twelfth of the amount. Which could be compared to paying over $48 per gallon.
Could always move to Syria though, where they get to enjoy prices of $0.27 per gallon. Not the nicest neighbourhood though, and there's also that stuff about exterior super powers being strangely interested in sending troops in. Strange.
The sooner we manage to progress onto adopting electric cars the better in my opinion. >_>

gas here in the alberta oilsands works out to 4.75 a gallon, or somesuch. canadian dollars, convert that to american if somebody wants. i can drive twenty minutes and find the closest plant that turns it into gasoline. i find it annoying that we then spend thousands of dollars to ship it south, so it can be sold for the same or cheaper in the states.

From the looks of it, the government is trying to limit the NSA as you said, and also trying to fight Obama's attempts to shut down Guantanamo Bay and take further action in Iraq. And according to this, the government's actually sort of winning. They also seem to be investigating the president's lawless release of the five Taliban dudes, seeing as he didn't notify them.
You know, for all the talk, and proof, that some of our government officials don't know what they're doing(especially evident with online privacy related stuff), I'm kind of glad it's attempting to improve things. Someone I know literally has had the mindset lately that this country is doomed to either be take over or destroyed by another country or collapse in on itself due to instability within 20-30 years from now, but fuck a lot can happen, good or bad, in that amount of time. I still have some hope for this nation.

Politicians don't have a clue what the people actually want
Listen to corporations, special interest groups, and lobbies instead of the people
The people are upset and say the politicians don't listen to them anyway
They stop trying to tell the politicians what they want, thinking they won't listen anyway
Then the politicians, again, don't have a clue what the people want
And so on until nobody trusts them anymore, voting attendance goes down, because people think 'hey, it's not like they listen! It's all pointless!'
