Re: Leena's Bed and Breakfast

Roger thinks for a moment, "He usually goes alone, huh...?" he adjusts his cap, remembering that Roger himself often said the same thing often, usually doing things such as attacking other gangs by himself... Discreetly, of course, often using cutthroat maneuvers to kill any unsuspecting man quietly... But, he could never bring himself to kill a woman of a rival gang in cold blood, which ended up getting him stabbed at one time. "Whatever, him and I aren't anything alike. He's actin' like he's some kind of hero, and I'm anything but that." he concluded.

Roger nods at Chris, "After you," he says, ready to follow him.

Chris nods, then leads RJ up the stairs.

Akira shuffles off back up the stairs and returns moments later with the usual shoulder bag which seemed to contain a few cables and a few sets of clothing, with the undergarments packed tightly onto the bottom of the bag where they were, for the most part, out of sight.

Ellen waits patiently until the group around the bag has thinned out a bit before stepping forward. She casually stepped in and took a tesla and a couple of pistol clips, sticking them both in her pockets after a short examination of the tesla itself. "So, when do we leave?" She asked Claudia quietly.

"As soon as Kevin, Connor and Akira are ready to go we can leave. Looks like Chris got us a C-150 to the Air Force base near where we need to ... oh, that is the same town."

Claudia was looking at the papers given to her and a map, and frowned
. "Great, we're gonna have Air Force jar heads breathing down our necks at times if that artifact is in the base. Just peachy."

Chris walked down the stairs, not giving any further talk to RJ. He knew better than to push the man any further. The truth was, he might need the guy, and it was better not to alienate someone you needed. However, he did need to see ... ah, there she was.

"Ellen, got a moment to step outside? I need a word with you regarding what we spoke on last night."

Ellen looked up and raised an eyebrow at Chris, but after a quick look around she complied with a shrug. "I think I have a minute or two before we get underway, what can I do for you?" She asked as she followed him out of the room.

Re: Leena's Bed and Breakfast

After making sure they were well out of earshot of the others he finally spoke, lowly.

"I recalled our conversation about what you are last night, and realized you might have a .... vulnerability to sunlight. Therefore I thought you should take this."

He pulled out the box, showing to her a necklace made of prisms, one that appeared to have been hand made.

"I .... acquired an artifact called the dead light prism a few years ago. I crafted it into a necklace that could be worn by either a male or female some time ago, though it's never been used. The prism imprints the wearer's genetic coding to itself, meaning that only the first person who wears it will be able to properly use it until they are dead. Long story short, it prevents the sun from harming vampires."

Something told her he hadn't acquired that through legal channels either, and that a few injuries had been inflicted in order to get it.

"Take it, and don't make any perverse comments about a guy you just met giving you something like this and we'll call it even, ok?"

He said it with a slight grin, though she could tell his mind, even after all this time was still on that Allison woman he'd told her about last night.

Ellen watched him for a moment with a confused expression, before reaching out and taking it. "Seems like you went through a lot of work to make this, did you have someone else in mind originally?" She asked, waiting to put it around her neck until after he answered.

He nodded. "Originally this was crafted for Sean since I knew he'd become very much like a vampire. However as it turned out, he didn't need it, and thus it's been sitting on the shelves of the Warehouse for nearly five years. Once I realized what you were, I remembered I still had this, and found it again. Being as it's not a dangerous artifact, it was placed in an area with artifacts that pose no real danger to anyone, but that we don't quite understand exactly what makes them tick."

He was silent for a few moments after that, then spoke again. "Be careful out there in Colorado Springs. Oh, and let Sean know IMMEDIATELY if any electrical storms come into the area. I say this because electrical activity seems to increase artifact output by about ten fold."

((Sorry, Siphon...But I can't resist...))

"And it's a real bitch trying to get nature to pay up," Sean had just come back down when Chris had made his comment about electrical storms. "He's right though. Things can get real interesting if a storm pops up."

"I see, thank you." Ellen says, dipping her head in thanks before slipping the necklace on and tucking it under her hoody. "Do you mean the necklace's output, or artifacts in general? I'll keep an eye open."

"Artifacts in general."

He chuckled. "Sean, remember that electrical storm two years ago with the damned typewriter? God that was the WORST night of my artifact hunting years ever."

Re: Leena's Bed and Breakfast

After getting everything on, and walking down the hallway, Roger spared a moment to think to himself. He thought about Mrs. Frederic, and how she seemed to know so much that Roger worked so hard to keep hidden. And with that, Roger could still not figure out why he was selected by her... There had to be so many more people who'd be more trustworthy, more reliable, than some kid off the street... Granted, Roger knows how to kill very well, but in his mind, there are a lot of people who could surpass him in that area easily.

"I still don't know... I was perfectly fine with rotting away in that prison for the rest of my life. Didn't bother me at all... But she somehow made me change my mind... Made me want to get out, and continue my life... I don't know... Maybe the reason I'm still not ditching out on this whole thing, even now, is so that I can die a better death, as opposed to dieing in a prison cell..." Roger told himself, when in truth, he had no clue why he accepted the offer. But, he did, and the small part of him that was honorable told him to respect any promise he gives, no matter what. "A man's only as good as his word." he always tells himself. And he had to keep his word, until his word was fulfilled... Which likely meant he'd be spending the rest of his life helping to find artifacts with the people of this organization, until something claimed his life.

Right as he concluded his thoughts, Roger found himself at the bottom of the steps, in the main room. He walked over to Leena, and lifted his head in a small greeting, "Hey," he said, "how's it going? You got any non-perishable food? And a water bottle that'll fit in this pack?" he asked, placing his right hand on the pouch on the right of the front of his body. He knew that he could fit two grocery store sized bottles into the pack, as well as shove a pack of beef jerky and maybe even a can of Ravioli inside. He remembered eating some ravioli after a hurricane hit the town when the power went out, and that was a healthy meal that lasted him for a couple days.

Re: Leena's Bed and Breakfast

Leena regarded his backpack for a moment, then nodded.

"I believe I have some stuff that should fit nicely in there."

She ducked into her kitchen, coming back with a dozen or so cans of non perishable food, several additional instant mix soups, and two half liter sized bottles of water.

"That should suffice you if anything comes up that you can't get to a store for several days, and I mean for the entire party. Longer if for whatever reason your separated from them and have to survive on your own, but Chris isn't going to let that happen. One of his rules is no one goes off alone on missions like these. And he'll be carrying a bunch of stuff like you are, so you should have .... for four people, probably ten to twelve days worth of food and drink."

Akira looks around while sitting at the table at being called, "I'm... ready to leave anytime. Just don't expect me to shoot anyone..."
Looking at Claudia for the first part of his sentence, as if to get some confirmation, he directed the rest of it at the others, mainly at Akira, to assure he wasn't holding them up. "Assuming we're leaving the same way we came in, I just need to get my bag from my shitty little rent-a-car. I haven't unpacked yet and I only brought a few essentials as is." He didn't want to explain at this point that the fact he packed so lightly is the fact he didn't think he'd be here that long.

Re: Leena's Bed and Breakfast

Roger's jaw dropped a little at all the food she came out with. "I... I don't have enough room for all that! I wanted enough of a light load so I could at least run at a decent speed! What the hell was this bit-" he then stopped himself, once he remembered Leena could read his thoughts. Even though he wasn't speaking, he bit his tongue, before saying, "So... Uh... That's for all of us, huh?" he said, trying to take the insult out of his mind. He knew the woman didn't necessarily deserve that comment, as she'd done nothing against Roger. He let out a feeling of apology, or regret, one that Leena might pick up on, even though Roger didn't know she would.

Roger reached a hand behind his head, and started scratching the back of his head. "I guess I'll just take my portion..." he said, taking two water bottles. After putting one in his pack, he gestured at Leena with the other, "We're gonna need a lot of these," he stated, before putting it into the pouch.

After putting an instant soup, chicken flavored, and a couple rather convenient cans of ravioli into his pouch, Roger decided that was enough, and raised his voice to address Dex and Sarah, "Hey, you two!" he called to them, "Grab some food and water to take with you, I'm not going to carry everything." he told them, before stepping away from the rest of the food, to sit onto a nearby chair, waiting for everyone else to get ready.

Re: Leena's Bed and Breakfast

Leena smiled back at Roger, and he'd get the impression not only did she not take offense to his mental outburst, but that she'd known the entire time he couldn't carry it all, and had brought out enough food to fill four packs with. The water part she nodded at, going back to gather a number more of those.

Claudia nodded. "Yeah, we'll have to go out that way to get my car. It'll fit all of us and the gear, and it flies too. Well, not literally fly, but you know what I mean."

Ellen smirked a little. "Alright, watch out for storms, noted. I had better get back, I think they're nearly ready to go." She says, and turns to head back to the group. "Thanks for the chat, Chris."
