(Mina) Grapple: 11 + 30 + 3 = 44 vs 3 + 24 = 27. Hit
Damage: 11 + 7 + 2 = 20

Mina, still struggling with her demonic attacker, pulls her blade back and stabs it viciously into the creatures chest, opening a nasty wound. The demon howls in pain, then glares angrily at Mina, before flicking it's eyes over to it's dead comrade and the approaching kobold. With a quick motion, it attempts to throw Mina at her small friend.

(Stalker) Grapple: 9 + 24 = 33 vs 15 + 30 + 3 = 48. Fail

Mina reacts quickly, maintaining her balance and even pulling the demon slightly back with her, throwing it off balance enough for the kobold to make a quick attack.

(Kobold) To-Hit: 3 + 24 = 27 vs 28. Miss.

The small fey's axe bites into the ground an inch away from the demon, throwing up sparks. "Damn!" the kobold yells as he puts his weight into withdrawing the blade from the stone road. The demon takes the opportunity to turn and run, heading into the city to hide. The kobold watches the retreating demon, cursing quietly, before responding to Mina, "Very few women escape from what these things will do to you. And none who do are the same as they were before."

Mina sheaths her swords and helps her companion free his weapon before removing some of the skin from the two dead demons. "It's already happened to me once before, I'm certain my body would give out before my mind." She looked towards the city and grumbled, "I know you will not like this but we should go into the forest for now, they would probably be unwilling to send anything too powerful so far away from their lines for a kobold and a mercenary. Is your face going to be alright? That is a painful looking wound."

At Mina's mention of dealing with the after effects of demons before, the kobold pauses and stares at her, then returns to freeing his weapon. The fey flicks his gaze between Mina and the fleeing stalker, then shrugs before putting his weapon away. He brings a hand to wipe away some of the blood trailing down his face, then says, "I've had worse, but I wouldn't mind seeing a healer soon." He looks around, between the edge of the city and the nearby forest. "We might wander into more dangers in the woods than out here on the outskirts. But hey, you're the one who saved me. Lead on."

"Whatever is in the woods will not be actively looking for us. I'll take corrupted animals and plants over opponents with armor and magic and it's the most likely place that we'll find something friendly towards us rather than in the middle of demon territory." She smirks, "If you're scared I'll carry you."

The kobold gives a slight laugh but declines Mina's offer, then motions towards the woods. The two move further away from the city and into the lightly wooded outskirts. The forested area is quiet, not even any birds calling. From here the town can been periodically through the trees, so if the Fey camp is not too far into the city, Mina and the kobold should be able to spot it while remaining concealed.

"It's much better here when it isn't pitch black, and none of that damnable rain..." She mutters, "Just watch for any plants moving where they should not be, I have heard stories......and a bit of first hand experience." Her mask hid the blush that hit her upon uttering her last comment.

As they move further into the forested outskirts, the kobold appears more at home in the wilderness than in the Badarian city, moving easier and more confidently through the growth. At the same time however, he keeps his guard up, his eyes flicking back and forth between the trees. "Yeah, there's a lot more than plants to be worried about now." He doesn't seem to catch the meaning of Mina's admission, possibly too concerned with watching for danger to think too much about subtleties.

Perception: Success

The two both spin at the sound of nearby brush rustling, just before a large form roars and steps out into view. With it's attempt to sneak up on the pair foiled, the large cat instead growls angrily as it pads towards them, it's sharp teeth and vicious claws bared. It keeps low, looking ready to pounce. "Speaking of things to be worried about," the kobold says as he draws his axe and plants his feet, staring down the monstrous creature.

"Actually this looks like a simpler fight than any of my others so far, animals are easy to predict..." Mina grinned and stood over the kobold her swords drawn and ready to strike as soon as it lunged and one of them. "Unless it can breath fire I'm not that worried."

Despite Mina's confidence, she is unable to react before the large cat lunges for her, it's claws sinking into her leather armor. Thankfully, the thick covering easily withstands the assault, though Mina can feel the tips of the beasts claws poke through to scratch her skin. The mercenary stumbles back, then recovers and swipes back at the creature.

To-Hit: 3 + 30 + 3 + 12 + 2 = 50 vs 36. Hit
To-Hit: 7 + 30 + 3 + 12 = 52 vs 36. Hit
Damage: 4 + 10 + 2 = 16
Damage: 7 + 10 = 17. Killed.

Her intense training once again allows her to prevail, and the crazed creature quickly falls to her twin blades. The kobold, relaxes as the large creature growns in pain and then falls to the ground unmoving. He looks up at Mina with respect, then looks back at the creature. "It might not be breathing fire, but it was being affected by the demons. Look at it's skin."

Even with the wounds and blood covering it's form, Mina can readily spot what the kobold is referring to. The large cat's skin is covered in strange rashes and growths, some of them even seeming to extend quite far from the body. The growths remind her of the tentacles she had been attacked by when she arrived in the area, though nowhere near as long. "I've seen other animals with these things growing from them," the kobold says, "But this one is further along than the others. We might start seeing worse things soon." Though the kobold stares at the corrupted animal for a few moments, he soon begins rocking back and forth on his heels.

"Then they will fall as well." Mina smiles and wipes the blood off her weapons, "I'm finally doing what I came here to do, kill things, help people, and make a little bounty on the side." She smirks. "Anything in the forest should be in small numbers and disorganized, a lot less of a risk than it would be taking on well trained black knights." She hummed as they continued onward, "How quickly do fey develop? If we must hurry we will, I don't want to risk having your children in a hostile area such as this."

The kobold gives a small laugh as he looks up at Mina with respect. "Good thing you're on our side," he says, before following the longer legged women through the forest. He brings another hand to his face, wiping a bit more blood away before answering Mina's second question. "Well, I'm no healer, but I think it's different for all of us. I believe we have a few more hours at least before the little ones are ready to come out, though." The two continue through the lightly wooded area without seeing any more threats, though they still don't see any sign of a Fey camp nearby.

"A few hours, we'll have to hope we get lucky then, protecting several infants would make this trip incredibly more difficult." Mina pauses with a sigh and looks around before looking straight up. "How good is your tree climbing......?" She looked back down at her friend a visible smirk through her mask.

The kobold laughs at Mina's suggestion, then says, "Getting rusty, since I'm used to just being picked up and put in high places." The fey removes his axe from his belt and leans it up against the nearest tree, then bares his small claws. "I'll see what I can see," he says, before beginning to climb up the trunk, slowly but surely making progress thanks to his claws.

After several minutes of climbing, the kobold is fairly high up the tree and reaches over to one of the branches. He pulls himself over to it and rests for a second before looking out towards the city. "I can't see much from here!" he yells. "Some branches in the way! But I don't think the camp is close! Maybe farther south!" He spends a few more minutes looking around before slowly lowering himself down the tree. Once he reaches the bottom, he breathes heavily in exertion, before reaching to grab his axe

"Well then we'll head south, at least we have some bearings." Mina picks up her exauhsted companion and places him on her shoulder. "And to be fair you were a better pick for that then the woman who has hardly even seen trees." She laughs imagining how poorly she would have climbed the tree if she had tried, maybe even fallen out.

The kobold sways slightly as he is deposited once again on Mina's shoulders, but doesn't protest. "I've never been somewhere without trees," he says, one hand holding the top of her head for balance. "Except for human cities, but I never stayed in those too long."

The kobold keeps a watchful eye between the trees for threats, and directs Mina along through the wild growth. The trip through the forest remains quiet as the two head further south, always keeping the edge of the city in sight.

"You should visit the desert if you survive this, it's hot, sandy and dry yes but you have not seen a sunrise until you see the endless dunes alight like fire. And the nights are perfectly clear, on any night with the moon you can see almost as well as you can during the day. The forests here feel like they are closing around me....I am used to spotting my enemies at least an hour away from me. Not mere feet." Mina seemed to get a bit on edge and looked around more with her last statement. "I miss the perfect veiw of a clear sky as well, these lands feel dark and depressing.....even without the demonic presence."

"I've always thought these forests felt safe and protective," the kobold says after a moment. "There's always something to eat, if you look for it, and somewhere to hide if you need it." Mina can feel the small fey twitching as he looks back and forth through the trees, continuing his protective watch from above. "Clothing, shelter, tools, anything you need you can find right here."

Perception: Success

The two continue their walk for some time without encountering any more threats. As they continue, Mina notices her armor beginning to feel a bit more snug around her stomach. Suddenly however, she feels the kobolds fingers press against her scalp. "I hear something," he says, motioning in the direction of the city.

"I suppose it's simply a case of being inexperienced on this type of terrain. I am used to fighting in large open areas." She halts as soon as her friend alerts her and she quietly draws her blades looking towards the town. "More stalkers? Or worse?" She narrows her eyes trying to spot the new threat to them.

Perception: Failure

Try as she might, Mina can't detect what her small friend has. The small fey is quiet for a moment, then says, "Fighting... far away." He hesitates a moment, then hops down from Mina's shoulders before taking a few steps forwards. "I think it might be more of my people!" he says excitedly before pulling his axe and rushing towards the city, his small form rapidly getting away from the mercenary through the brush.

"D-Damnit wait for me!" Mina blinks in shock as the kobold runs and quickly speeds off in the same direction. "Don't go running off alone! You don't know what they're fighting!" She swung her swords in front of her trying to cut down any brush and keep up with the tiny kamikaze.
