Re: Synthia (BlueSlime)

Gerald smiles as he's comforted. "Right. Sorry." he starts. "No, not really, though it's a shame to move, we don't really have the funds to buy another house. As for forces fighting against them? I'm not sure, it's been a long time since any place has had any sort of standing army."

Re: Synthia (BlueSlime)

"What? No standing army?" Now it was Synthia's turn to be shocked. "That won't do at all... Someone has to organize some kind of defense. I don't want to have to leave our home to be overrun by those things if I can help it. Isn't there some kind of organization that could help us?"

Synthia looked from Gerald to Bryndan. Motherly pangs hit her, and she didn't want her son to be anywhere near danger or uncertainty.

"Where did the messenger come from? Isn't there a city with a strong militia at the very least? What are people planning to do about this monster swell?"

Re: Synthia (BlueSlime)

"Run away?" Gerald offered unhelpfully. "I mean, the city with the best militia is a weeks travel northwards, in any case, and even then, they would need a good amount of advance warning to prepare effectively."

"Though I heard from the messenger that there is a group of people trying to gather enough forces to mount an offensive."

Re: Synthia (BlueSlime)

"Oh, and where are these people meeting? The ones on the offensive?" Synthia was doing some thinking in her head. Gerald was a part of this world and would know how to get by if the worst should happen. Synthia was really only good at the hacking and slashing bit. If it came down to one of them running away with Bryndan, it would have to be Gerald she thought. She'd join the offensive force and try to defeat these monsters. If she was victorious, she could find Gerald and Bryndan in the north city afterwards, and they could all return home.

"The messenger informed me that they plan to use this town as their staging point, and will be here in two days." Gerald replied.

"I'm not sure what to do here. I want to protect our home here, but why does it seem like running is the best option, at least for our family's sake?" Gerald seems confused, unlike his usual self.

Re: Synthia (BlueSlime)

"Then our choice is very simple Gerald," Synthia said, taking his hand in hers. "One of us sets out today with Bryndan, heading for the city to the north. I think it should be you. You have more knowledge of this area than I do, and you can protect our son better than I can in that environment. I'll stay here and rally the townsfolk who don't want to give in against the invaders. We'll harass the enemy's approach and try to slow their advance. It'll give you time enough to secure a safe place for Bryndan to stay and send back reinforcements."

She squeezed his hand gently. "I want to go with you, but one of us has to stay and defend this place. I'm just as capable, and you would know your way better through the land to the city. Or if not to the city then west perhaps to your home town, perhaps you could leave Bryndan with your family and then come back to help me?"

Re: Synthia (BlueSlime)

"Leave you? Alone?" Gerald looks outraged that she would suggest that. "How could you possibly think I would leave you here while I fled!"

Gerald takes a few moments to calm down, sitting back down at the table. Thinking again now, he provides his counter suggestion. "Right, to my home town, my parents would love the chance to look after their grandson." He gives a small sigh. "But I don't have to go, we have friends, I know that we could trust them to bring him to my parents." He suggests, not wanting to leave his wife.

Re: Synthia (BlueSlime)

"It will be too hard for Bryndan to understand. He needs one of us with him at least until he's with his grandparents. Bring him west to them and then hurry back to find me. You're not abandoning me, you're staying with our son. I won't be alone, I promise I'll be staying with the group of town defenders who remain behind, and we both know I'm capable of defending myself."

She spoke soothingly, not wanting to rouse Gerald's anxiety at parting with her.

"Your parents are much closer than the city, and they can flee to the city with Bryndan if need be. If you leave soon, you might be able to make it back here before the monsters arrive."

Re: Synthia (BlueSlime)

"I still don't like this." Gerald sighs. "Leaving you that is, even if it's only a day or two."

Gerald gets up as he runs his hand through his hair in frustration. "I don't want to leave you here, even if it's for a day." he says again. "Are you sure he can't go with some of our friends?"

At this point neither of the pair have as of yet realized their son is still listening in to their discussion with fascination.

"Do your friends know where your parents live? How can we be certain that he'll get to them safely. I only trust him to be safe with you."

Suddenly she turned to Bryndan, and noticed him staring between her and Gerald with his large dark eyes. She didn't know how much of this he would understand, but she was now worried that he might be upset by the worry in both his parents' voices.

"Fine" Gerald gives in. "Tomorrow morning, we'll leave, I promise I'll be back the morning after, I can make the trip quickly enough."

Bryndan, for his part, looks only mildly confused as to why his parents seem to be arguing, but noticing the worry in his mothers eyes, only moves to give her a hug.

Re: Synthia (BlueSlime)

Relieved that Gerald had consented, Synthia pulled Bryndan to her and hugged him tightly. Then picking him up she moved to where Gerald stood and leaned against her husband reassuringly.

For now, they were together as a family, and she wanted to enjoy the moment.

"We can make preparations starting this morning, but I want us all here for dinner. We're going to have a nice meal before the two of you start out tomorrow."

She kissed her son on his forehead and then kissed his father on his cheek.

***

Later on, Synthia had taken up her sword, which was kept well polished in one of the spare rooms that had become her study. She had been a self-defense instructor for the town's young women in the past few game years, and so she had become known in the area for her prowess as a magical warrior. Many of her students had taken to wearing red, just like their sensei, and now she worried that some of them would stay behind with her. She did not like the idea of the monsters capturing any of the girls she had trained.

Still, she was staying to defend her home, and she did not doubt that they would stay as well.

Re: Synthia (BlueSlime)

Giving her a kiss right back Gerald said of course he would stay for dinner.

That night they had dinner, Gerald packing up and deciding to out first thing in the morning. Tucking their son in early for the night as he himself went to polish off his old armor. His own instruction and training had kept him sharp, and he wasn't about to abandon this life he had built.

Meeting Synthia in her study after it had become dark out, he held in his hands a coil of rope. "You're not going to let me leave without my fun for the night, are you?" He said, knowing she'd want him before he left in the morning.

Re: Synthia (BlueSlime)

Gerald found Synthia in the middle of a swordplay routine when he entered her study. She smiled and said nothing as she lowered her sword and let it slid into it's sheath. Calmly she placed it upon it's stand at the center of the east wall, and then stood to face her husband.

"All this time and yet still you have to ask?" she said, a hint of a smile creeping across her lips. "Have you not trained me as your willing and obedient wife?"

She was wearing a simple dress. One of many that she had gone through while being married to Gerald. In the heat of his passion, he liked to tear the clothes from her body - and she had learned from the first night they had spent together in this town not to wear nice clothes before going to bed with him.

She came over to him then and let him lead her down to the room he had prepared for her.

Re: Synthia (BlueSlime)

Gerald merely smilies as she responds, moving forward to tie her hands behind her back as he leads her down to their dungeon.

It was full of many instruments, and Synthia had tied to all of them at least once, the most prominent a wooden horse in the center. He unties her hands as he holds them and gives her a long, deep kiss.

He removed her dress gently for once, revealing what she was wearing underneath, a simple pair of underwear.

He tied her hands behind her back as he moved her to the wooden horse for tonight. Removing her panties to gag her with with a piece of cloth as a cleave gag, he helped her up before tying her tightly so she couldn't move.

He took out the riding crop, the one she had purchased long ago, he only used it rarely, it being their special one. He started to whip her gently at first as the first time. Before moving to her breasts with his hands.

Hey toyed with her a long time that night, before finally removing her and carrying her to the bed they had in the room. He tied her much like that night at the inn, staying silent as he removed her gag, entering into a long kiss before he entered her for what would be, to him at least, the last time for far too long a time. He pleasured her to orgasm before he came. Their love mating just as much as it did the first night.
---
When she was untied later Synthia could see Gerald was holding back the disappointment that he wouldn't be fighting with her, even if it was only for a day. He gave her a final kiss for the night before he drifted off to sleep himself. He had only said one thing that night.

"I love you" He told her, as he set himself to sleep.

Re: Synthia (BlueSlime)

Synthia had the memories of many nights in this room planted into her mind, and she looked at the instruments with fondness. She let Gerald lead her to the wooden horse, which had been his favorite. He loved the way she looked and squirmed while tied to it.

It took little time for her to get aroused. The feel of the ropes and the wooden horse riding into her crotch made her wet. And the riding crop sending jolts of pleasure mixed with light pain up her body as it slapped against her thighs and buttocks, soon raised her to new heights.

When he took her off the horse she had wanted him to bend her over immediately and take her, but instead he made her wait, panting and dripping, as he brought her to their bed and tied her to its posts. Only then did he enter her, and she moaned happily as he drove them both to orgasm.

She responded to his love with her own kiss and cuddling, determined not to stop touching him that night. She put her arms around him and held him in an embrace as she slept.

***

The following morning she dressed in her old warrior's garb, including her red cape and feathered hat. Her sword was at her hip. Brynden was dressed and fed and sitting in a specially made saddle, in front of where his father would be sitting as they rode westward.

"Be safe, and be quick," she told Gerald. "I'll be waiting for you here, and if I'm not here, then I'll be gathering with the townsfolk somewhere near the far side of the lake."

She kissed both of them goodbye and fought back tears in her eyes.

Re: Synthia (BlueSlime)

Gerald gave a small nod, fighting back his own tears. After the kiss he set off at a fast pace. Bryndan hanging on tight to his father, looking back towards his mother, giving her a smile as he goes.

It's not long before they're out of sight, and the morning is Silent, the sun still not completely up.

Re: Synthia (BlueSlime)

Turning on her heels, Synthia stifles her emotions and goes off into the town to organize its defenders. The messenger had been to many houses on his way through, and those he had missed had quickly been informed by their neighbours. The decision to stay or to go had already been made, and those who were here now were those able bodied and willing enough to make a stand. Synthia had been among them yesterday, suggesting ways they could store food caches in the woods at various drop points and in this way last long enough for reinforcements to come. They would need to ride out today if they hoped to stall the monsters before they came to the town.

Everyone had gathered at the inn, and Synthia surveyed the group that had stayed behind.

Re: Synthia (BlueSlime)

Synthia finds quite a lot of of people had stayed to fight. So many in fact that the inn became a bit overcrowded and they had to relocate outside.

Synthia recognized a good 90% of her students there, as well as quite a lot of people Gerald had trained. It would be hard to give them all names, but Synthia tried her hardest. She managed to organize with others a sort of council, of the best fighters and thinkers.

Along with her, there were 4 others who were to be part of the decision making process. A somewhat middle-aged man with slightly graying hair, who Synthia recognized as one of Geralds friends, his name Allen. Two of her students, the brightest she had had, both of them both young and capable fighters. Their names were Annie and Marie. And the last was someone Synthia hadn't quite known, but she had a feeling he was probably a powerful wizard, with the large beard he wore and the knowing smile, he looked quite elderly, but Synthia did see in his eyes a hint of something greater. And his name was Max.

Re: Synthia (BlueSlime)

Huh? Max? No, it couldn't be. It's likely just a coincidence. Max is a common name after all.

Shaking off a niggling doubt, Synthia went headlong into her plans.

"We need to slow the monsters' advance. We have to assume we're going to be up against a great host, and that means that simple distractions aren't going to cut it. Yes, an outrider force should go and harry their flanks, but while that's going on, another force has to ride about half a day's journey east from here and set a trap. Something that will cause the host to divert either north or south."

She looked up at the wizard. "I don't know what your capabilities are, but a wall of fire or at the very least an illusion of one might be useful. Is something like that possible?"
