Re: Eleanor (Sir-Oni)

Feeling the beasts jaw clamp around her neck Eleanor realises what's about to occur, and while she's disgusted with her inability to fight back she can't help but accept her fate.

Or that should've been the case.

The mercenary climbs to her feet as the hellhound is called off her, a look of confusion on the girls face as her eyes dart to Aulekia then the dog and back again all the while keeping a firm grip on her pistols. Only once she realises the dog is probably a pet of Aulekia's does Eleanor relax, reholstering her pistols.

"You sure that thing is safe?" Eleanor asks as she rubs where the beasts teeth were, skepticism in her voice. "Though I guess it could be good in a fight. So long as it doesn't go for me again." Once happy that the beast won't try to mount her again Eleanor sets about checking the area out, seeing if she can find anything useful before setting out to track the bastards. While examining the place Eleanor decides she should explain to Aulekia why she's travelling as a merc, filling her in from as early as she can remember right up to when she set out to avenge her lord's death.

"Of course he's safe! Hellhounds are smart, you know. They can understand us, even if they can't talk back." Aulekia responded, patting the demonic wolf on the head. Eleanor's fingers came back damp, but a quick check revealed no red. Whether it was really comforting that all she had there was a lot of dog spit or not was up to her to decide.

"He knows that you're a friend now, so he should leave you alone.... Barring the occasional affection licks, of course!" Aulekia said excitedly to her back while Eleanor was busy examining the tracks. It wasn't difficult to pick up the trail, and once she started off following them, keeping a wary out for her targets, she began to explain to Aulekia about her past, and the reason for being in Artmirst and hunting the men that she was after.

The demoness paled visibly as she spoke of her early enslavement, but she adopted a stoic expression as Eleanor continued, not interrupting her unless she paused, at which point the demoness would look at her and wait for her to continue. "Well...... " She said, after Eleanor had finished. They still hadn't found the end of the trail, and had gone quite a distance to boot. The group she followed seemed to have been moving in circles, though for what reason, Eleanor couldn't be sure. "That's... That's not pleasant at all." Aulekia continued awkwardly.

The demoness cleared her throat, and finally said; "I'm... Sorry for your loss, Eleanor. I'll help you as much as I can in achieving your revenge!" Eleanor found herself looking over the corpse of a man that she didn't recognize. His throat had been torn out, and not far away from the body, a rifle was lying on the ground. It had been sabotaged beyond the ability to repair without replacing half of the parts, making it more or less worthless. The trail continued forward, but this might bear further investigation. The corpse hadn't been dead for very long, as the faintest traces of warmth still present.

"Thanks for the condolences," Eleanor replies as she kneels down to check out the corpse. "It was pretty heartbreaking at first, didn't know what I was going to do with myself. But vengeance helped sort that out and has driven me this far. Once I get to the bastards there'll be no mercy. Hrm... these wounds don't look like the kind they normally cause..." The mercenary mutters as she checks the body over, looking through the mans pockets to see if she could get a better idea of who he was and why he was killed in this fashion.

The man didn't have much on him in the way of material goods. He had a small coin purse at his belt that hadn't been taken, a small shabby boot knife, and an insignia for the slaver group that Eleanor had been hired to track down. That at least confirmed that he was one of the men she'd been hired to track, though he wasn't one of those that she herself was after. the fact that he had no personal effects to speak of led Eleanor to believe that the slavers must have some sort of hideout in the area. Examining the wound, he looked to have been dead for no more than two hours, as the blood hadn't fully dried yet. The cuts at his throat was too ragged to have been made with a blade, and the fact that there were four evenly spaced cuts and a great deal of flesh missing suggested that something with claws had been the one to end the life of this man.

As she worked over the corpse, Aulekia was glancing around, and the hellhound was pacing about, its nose to the ground. "No mercy... Good! But, when you kill them..... Then what will you do?" Aulekia asked quietly, her gaze directed toward Eleanor's back.

"Hrm... this doesn't bode well..." Eleanor commented to herself quietly as she poked at the wounds in the mans neck with one hand while snatching up the coin purse with the other. "I wouldn't want to face the bastard that did this."

Eleanor perked up at Aulekia's question, getting to her feet the mercenary thinks for a moment. "I'm not actually sure," She replies after a few moments before walking back to the demon girl. "Though we could start a new life, travel somewhere far from here, you know?"

Aulekia looked startled by Eleanor's answer to her question, but then smiled in delight and said; "I would like that, Eleanor.... I would like that a lot!" The hellhound had been sniffing the corpse after Eleanor had left it, and then moved to sit next to them, waiting attentively. "What do we do now, Eleanor?" Aulekia asked, still happy at her suggestion for what they might do following Eleanor finding her revenge.

"'What do we do'?" Eleanor replies, a wicked smirk beginning to form on her face. Taking out her pistols and spinning them once she replies, "Why my dear Aulekia, we go to blow these fuckers off the face of the planet." And with that Eleanor once more follows her quarry's tracks, certain they have holed down somewhere in this godforsaken town. She knew the oncoming battle wasn't going to be easy but the mercenary now had a future to fight for, and Eleanor would be damned if she wasn't going to give it her best.

Aulekia frowned slightly at Eleanor's violent words, but then nodded, a look of resolution upon her face. The demon girl and her pet hellhound followed Eleanor wordlessly through the desolate streets of Artmirst as she followed the tracks of the men she had come to kill. From the intersection where she had found the dead man, the slaver's path became less winding, and after moving in circles for a short while they had turned and started South.

Eleanor and company left the slums that marked the border between the factory district and the merchant district, the tattered decaying shacks nestled among still and stone buildings giving way to larger, more sturdy homes built of wood and made to resist the elements. The trail the slavers had left took them through that place, however, and into the rich quarter, where the wealthy had lived. To the doorstep of a large, opulent property that was surrounded by a stone wall topped with sharpened iron spikes, and with a rusted iron gateway that had been chained closed.

The place, as far as she could tell at a glance, was empty. A closer look, however, revealed the very subtle signs of recent habitation by a group that did not want to be intruded upon. Small pieces of debris, innocuous, but that would cause a great deal of noise if disturbed, littered the area in front of the gate, and several of the windows in the four story mansion that lay beyond the wall had been cleanly broken out. As far as she could tell, none of them were occupied, but the image of a man holding a rifle to his shoulder from a few feet inside of the and calmly putting a round through her chest came into Eleanor's mind, and made her shoulder blades itch.

She had only seen a small part of the wall circling the complex, but they had an entrance available to them right here. Further investigation would be a safer option, but it seemed likely that the men that Eleanor had come here to kill were somewhere within that mansion, and with her quarry so close, rational thought might very well not be her first course of action.

"Well, this is an awfully fancy place," Eleanor mutters quietly as they near the property, keeping her voice down just in case anyone is nearby. "This has definitely got to be the place... we need to find a way in. These bastards will die, one way or another." Excitement in her voice, Eleanor begins to take stock of her surroundings, though quickly realises that this area would probably make for a really shitty way in.

"You two wait here for a moment, I'm going to check around the wall to see if there's another way in," Eleanor makes to move though hesitates for a moment. Turning back she quickly kisses Aulekia before heading off, hoping to find an entrance.

Aulekia nodded silently, and hunkered down behind the wall at Eleanor's command to stay put. The demoness seemed slightly surprised by the sudden reversal and kiss, but that quickly faded into a smile as she returned the embrace. She was smiling when Eleanor turned to leave. The hellhound had watched the scene in stoic silence, remaining alert as its eyes scanned across the surface of the house.

Leaving the two demons alone, Eleanor scouted around the wall surrounding the mansion. She found two other entrances, one a small doorway that had been closed and barred from the inside, and the other a small rooftop on a house the was fairly close to the wall, possibly close enough to allow people to jump over the wall and land in the yard. Both approaches were under the sight of the house itself, and the yard was wide open, such that she would be completely exposed if she took either way. The door in the fence led along a small path right to an already opened back door into the house, and reaching the same door would be easy from the yard, which the path ran through.

Re: Eleanor (Sir-Oni)

Eleanor stays close to the wall as she makes her way around, her intent to find a way in. Fortunately she doesn't have to look for long before she finds two viable options, though the longer the mercenary thinks about it the quicker she realises they could be heading straight into a trap. Pushing that thought to the back of her mind for a moment Eleanor decides to try out the backdoor first, to see how much effort she'd have to put against it before whatever was blocking entry through the door would budge. Once finished with testing out the door Eleanor goes to check out the house before her previous thought pops back up. Hesitating to leave the safety of the wall an idea comes to the woman. Keeping to the shadows of the wall Eleanor quickly hurries back to Aulekia.

"Fido's a demon, right?" Eleanor asks while pointing towards the hellhound, slightly out of breath. "Is there any chance of us being able to summon more of his kind? I've been thinking, a building this size would be able to house quite a large number of people. It would be pretty useful to boost our numbers if we have the chance."

The door was barred with an old rusty metal bar on the other side, and Eleanor would have to make a great deal of noise if she wanted to break through it. Either shooting it, or simply bashing against it with her shoulder, she might be able to get through it without too much trouble, but it most certainly would give away her position. The house that could be climbed could be easily scaled, its walls rough and pocked marked with holes that would make the trip easy... For anything with hands at least. Fido would be another matter entirely, as Eleanor couldn't see any way for the hellhound to be brought up unless it could somehow jump up this high.

When she returned to Aulekia, she found the demon girl leaned against the wall, keeping out of sight of the windows of the house. She was about to respond to her question about Fido when the hellhound gave its own response. Sitting back on its hind legs, the demonic beast looked up into the slowly darkening sky, and emitted a long, low howl that almost deafened Eleanor with its volume. It went on for almost a minute, and when Fido finished he turned toward Eleanor, his tail wagging and his tongue lolling out of his mouth.

A minute or so later, Eleanor felt the ground beneath her feet beginning to tremble. Something was moving..... And then, around the three of them, a dozen figures appeared as if out of thin air, one by one. Grey skinned but otherwise human in shape, the stalkers waited around them in a circle, and one of them said something in a low, guttural language that Eleanor had never heard before. Aulekia quickly responded in the same language and then turned to Eleanor and said; "Well... I guess that's answer enough for you, right? My kin here do not have the numbers that we once did, but.... We aid one another whenever we can, and since you're part of the family now, I guess Fido decided to take the initiative."

More demons came, not so stealthy as the stalkers and filling the courtyard in front of the gate into the mansion. It could hardly be called discrete, but there was one advantage that Eleanor had not been expecting to be on her side. Goblins streamed in, chattering and waving their weapons as they formed groups around Aulekia and Eleanor, the demon girl keeping herself between her human lover and her kin... Just in case. Horrific monsters, like giant ants with tentacles waving from their back, strolled in as well. Three more hellhounds, their sleek canine bodies shifting in the fading light. Some of the more humanoid demons, some dressed in light armor and others garbed in robes much like Aulekia's, joined them quickly as well. Finally, two massive behemoths, easily the size of a small house by themselves and with massive horns curling over their heads, thundered in. Ogres.

The demons had taken no more than five minutes together together. Not a peep had been heard from the house, but any chance at stealth was more or less ruined now. Anyone who could have missed the gathering of demons outside of the mansion would have to have been blind and deaf. "Well.... You asked." Aulekia offered apologetically, smiling nervously. "Why have we been called here? Surely you don't need help with one human girl, Aulekia! She's already got your marks all over her!" One of the demons, a blond woman that was easily a foot taller than Eleanor said. "No... There are mortals in that building there. Many of them. They will make good slaves for us. This one is already mine, but she has led me to them in exchange for.... Leniency." Aulekia calmly and respectfully replied, not so much as offering a glance Eleanor's way as she responded in a subdued tone.

The other woman laughed lightly, but then nodded as her eyes began to glow. Behind her, the eyes of all of the other demons did the same. "Ahhh.... Well then, excellent work." The blond said, and then turned to begin speaking in hushed tones to one of the stalkers. Aulekia covertly offered Eleanor an apologetic glance, and began to move to stand directly next to her as the demons clamored, ready to crash the gates of the mansion.

Re: Eleanor (Sir-Oni)

"Woah, that's a lot..." Eleanor mutters to herself as the small army of demons finish piling into the area. The corner of her mouth turns upwards slightly into a wicked smile, "Looks like these bastards may have finally met their match."

Eleanor keeps quiet while Aulekia and the blonde haired demoness talk, catching her lovers look before butting in with her orders, hoping that they'll follow them instead of just laughing at her. "Before we go in," Eleanor starts, a slight quiver to her voice though she quickly regains her composure. The mercenary pulls out the emblem of the group she is tracking and lifts it up. "The people we are after wear this emblem, feel free to do whatever you want to them. There's also a high chance that these people will have captured people will them, I need you to leave them alone as I'm contracted to rescue them. Also, I want to deal with their leader myself so if you could try and not kill him before I get to him I'd appreciate it."

Eleanor puts the emblem back in her bag, and once the demons have rushed in she arms herself and begins walking to the building with Aulekia and Fido, walking at a leisurely pace, vengeance being the only thought running through her mind.

Perception: Failure.
Attack: Automatic Hit.
Damage: 5 + 7 + 4 + 10 + 3 + 16 = 45 * 2 = 90 damage.

As Eleanor began to speak, Aulekia turned to her with a look of utter panic on her face, while the demoness who had turned to speak with another of its kind beheld her with a sour, contempt filled look. That expression didn't improve as Eleanor continued, asking that the girls she had come to rescue and the specific men that she had come to kill be spared so that she might be able to sort them out.

The demoness turned to face Eleanor as she returned her emblem to her pack, and her voice was anything but respectful as she said; "Well.... While I'm sure you would appreciate that, human, I don't think you fully understand the position that you're in. Allow me to clarify things for you, as Aulekia seems to have failed in doing so." She paused momentarily, looking her in the eyes for a moment. There was none of the hypnotism that she had experienced when she had met Aulekia as Eleanor met those cold, crimson eyes. "You are a slave now. What you want is immaterial. Your desires, and your goals before you came into our service no longer matter. In fact, they no longer exist. You are shown leniency because you have willingly submitted, and because you have shown us to a source of more slaves. Speak to me again as you just have, and that leniency will vanish."

With that, she turned her back on Eleanor and strolled away, speaking in that same guttural language to the two ogres. Before Eleanor could retaliate, either verbally or by putting a bullet in the back of the offensive woman's head, Aulekia had her in her arms, a look of mixed panic and relief on the demon's face as she pulled Eleanor aside, and out of earshot of the other demons save for Fido, who followed them without missing a beat. "Don't do stuff like that! She could have us both killed if she wanted to! And you never told me about wanting to get anyone out of here!" She muttered quickly, equal parts anger and terror in her voice.

Before anything could be said in response, however, a massive crash caused Aulekia to shudder, and the gates caved inward as one of the ogres hurled a chunk of pavement the size of Fido at them. That seemed to be the signal to start forward, as the rest of the demons poured in through the wrecked gates. Aulekia pulled Eleanor along, Fido following obediently behind, and the three set off among the rushing demons as her lover said; "Maybe we can sneak some of the-" She was cut off mid sentence by a series of rifle reports, the muzzle flashes appearing from the top floor as the unseen marksmen opened fire on the oncoming tide.

Aulekia did not continue speaking, and Eleanor heard a thump beside her, barely audible over the din of the newly joined battle. Or it would have been, were it not for the implications that that thump from directly beside her and Aulekia's silence following the first shots brought up. Eleanor turned to look.

The demon's face looked confused, as she stared sightlessly down at the pavement, her face in the dirt and a hole the size of a coin in her forehead. Aulekia's blood eyes were wide, and a thin trail of blood made its way down her face and onto the floor. The back of her head was another story entirely. It was gone, blown out and away, Aulekia's brains sprayed out behind where she had stood by the force of the heavy caliber round.

Other demons died around her. A pair of goblins went down, as did a stalker that hadn't yet made use of its camouflaged skin. A massive thud shook the ground as one of the ogres fell, four massive holes in the humongous demon's head. Most notably, and perhaps even ironically, the woman that had been calling her a slave not too long ago went down just like Aulekia had, a bullet ending her immortal life in the span of a heartbeat. Eleanor couldn't be blamed for not caring about any of that, however, as she stared down at her lover's corpse.

Re: She is the Night (Sir-Oni)

The world around Eleanor seemed to have stopped. The woman looked on in horror as Aulekia's body fell to the floor, her demon lover's life cut short. All Eleanor could do for several moments was stand there, frozen by shock, though she fell beside the demoness as she snapped back to reality. Tears stained Eleanor's face as she carefully lifted Aulekia, cradling the woman in her arms, disbelief and denial running through her mind. Sorrow and anguish quickly took over and Eleanor broke down, sobbing into Aulekia's chest.

Rage was quick to take over.

With her crying almost over Eleanor rose her head up, an expression of deep hatred etched across her features. Placing Aulekia's body against the wall and out of sight, draping her jacket over Aulekia's she silently promises to return to the demoness to give her a proper farewell before standing up and turning to face the mansion. Summoning all the energy that she could muster Eleanor focused her magical attack on the mansion, hoping to nuke it with a massive burst of electrical energy. After, or if that failed Eleanor focused more energy into summoning three Lightning Elementals, the more help to wipe these bastards out the better.

Once finished with her magic Eleanor reached for her pistols, the mercenary promising to make each every one of those bastards pay for taking not only her lords life but now Aulekia's as well, even if it costs her her own life to do so. Guided by the hatred and vengeance in her heart Eleanor once more sets off into the mansion, burning or not, and if Fido happened to be in the area she'd call him over to her. Bypassing the more direct route that the slowly dwindling demons had decided to take and instead opt to find a more discrete route into the building, hoping to catch the bastards unaware.

(Cast Hellblast on the mansion, Summon Lightning Elemental x3)

Well, there goes a chunk of the house.

Casting (Elementals) : All three succeed. The dice like you today.

The sky had been largely clear not too long ago. After laying her coat over Aulekia's body, however, Eleanor called upon her magic, and the clouds above changed to match her state of mind. Darkness formed in a patch above the still raging battle, but the demons continued to surge forward. The hellhounds sprouted black armor and tore through the windows of the mansion, while the ogre charged forward and mashed through the double doors that made up the front entrance. It, and the goblins that followed in its wake were greeted by a hail of gunfire, felling three of them but not even slowing down the ogre. The rest of the demons followed in behind them, leaving Eleanor alone, crouched behind the wall beside Aulekia's body and Fido.

Not for long, however, as a brilliant flash and a roar that drowned out even the sounds of the battle going on inside of the mansion accompanied the completion of her magics. A bolt of lightning hammered down into the roof of the large house, tearing through the wood and clay like a sword through so much paper. A moment after that strike, the roof of the mansion collapsed down, and the support struts on the top floor collapsed. The top two floors were buried together, and the mansion now burned steadily from the top, and creaked ominously as she began to conjure further aid. The battle had moved out of her sight by the time Eleanor's three lightning elementals, living electricity in the shape of hounds, were lined up beside her. Fido sat patiently by her side until she started forward once more, still covered in his black protective armor.

Upon entering the house, stepping over a trio of dead goblins to do so, Eleanor found herself within the main hall. Directly ahead, the second ogre was toppled to the ground at the base of the wide staircase leading to the second floor, and two more goblins lay dead at the first landing. Six men were lying dead on the floor as well, along with one of the grey skinned demons. None of the humans were familiar to her. Sounds of conflict emanated from all directions, the hallway to her left having the terrified screams of what sounded like a group of young women amidst a handful of gunshots and roaring barks, while the hall to her right was filled with the malicious laughter of demons. Above her, more gunshots and screams, along with the cries of the demons as they went for their prey.

Her elementals and Fido both waited at her side, all waiting for her to decide where to go. The loudest sounds of conflict were most definitely coming from the upper floors, however.

Eleanor's gaze barely hovers over the downed demons and humans as she climbs into the slowly devastated building. The mercenary listens intently to the noise of battle, trying to work out the best route to take though it quickly becomes clear to her that heading up is her only real option. Eleanor silently signals one of the lightning elementals to take the lead, Fido to walk beside her and the last two elementals to follow up behind.

(Forgot the EP loss, dammit.)

Her formation decided, Eleanor strides up the stairs, her guns in her hands, and ignores the bodies that she passes and the screams from bellow. The second floor landing had nothing on it except for a handful of bullet casings, but she had plenty of options that she could go on from there. The lightning hounds stiffened suddenly, and Fido let out a warning growl and tilted his head to their right, where a door suddenly opened, and a man stepped out, a rifle in his hands. "Looks like it's... Aww shit!" He said, and then immediately spun and flung himself back into through the door he had just left before Eleanor could take more than a quick shot at him, which was pulled closed behind him.

The sound of something sliding against the floor on the other side signaled that whoever was on the other side had pushed something against it, but whether that would really help them was up for debate. She had Fido and three elementals to work with, which made Eleanor doubt that the door would stay closed for very long. The man she had seen hadn't been recognizable to her, and hadn't worn the insignia of those that she was specifically hunting, so she could easily pass on this particular distraction and hope that the demons found them later. She still had to find the stairs leading up, or perhaps search through the halls of this floor, but the man she had just seen didn't seem likely to stop her. Alternatively, if she was dead set on killing those behind the door but didn't want to use the direct route, there might be another entrance to the room they had barricaded themselves in, and the search for it might turn up something else within the mansion's corridors.

Eleanor raises her guns as the man bursts through the door though as she quickly scampers back inside she lowers them again, the lack of an insignia on his clothing making him unimportant to her. The mercenary was about to continue on through the mansion before she realises he may know where the leader to these assholes is. Signaling the elementals to surround her Eleanor and Fido stand next to the door.

"Hey asshole, I want to ask you something," Eleanor begins, her fist pounding on the door. The woman knows that the door would most likely not hold against their combined strength but she wanted to at least give the man and whoever else was hiding with him a false sense of security. "Let me in and answer my questions and I promise none of you will get hurt. Fail to do so and I'll make sure you're completely and utterly destroyed."

Re: She is the Night (Sir-Oni)

Eleanor: HP = 57, PP = 51, EP = 14/40, Status = Pregnant

There is a rather familiar clicking sound following Eleanor's pounding on the door, and in response to her shout instructions, a male voice said; "Yep, we'll open the door in just a second. Stay right there, it's, ahhh.... Jammed!" That was about as obvious a line as one could get, and whether she moved out of the way or Fido pushed her, she was thankfully not there when an explosion tore through the door, sending splinters into the wall of the hallway as a heavy round went through the wood and where she'd been standing a moment ago. "You still there? It looks like the door's still jammed, say something real quick and then I'll try again!" The man on the other side continued.

He had probably used a shotgun or a sniper rifle, as any other weapon that Eleanor knew of wouldn't have penetrated the door so easily. A chorus of laughs had accompanied the man's speech the second time around, so he probably wasn't alone back there.
