She is the Night (Sir-Oni)

Re: She is the Night (Sir-Oni)

"Wrong move fuck face," Eleanor shouts through the now ruined door. Fortunately she had realised at the last moment what was about to happen and jumped to the side of the door. Whispering very quietly to the point that her command is almost inaudible Eleanor tells two of the lightning elementals to search for another way into the room to surprise attack the people. If they do find another way in they are to give her a signal, though if they run into trouble they are to come straight back.

"This building is currently burning down and there is demons crawling all over it. Both due to me. I was going to let you go away safely if you answered my questions, but you had to play it the hard way." Leaning around the corner ever so slightly Eleanor peeks into the room to get a rough look of what she is up against whilst waiting for either the elementals signal or their return.

Eleanor: HP = 57, PP = 51, EP = 14/40, Status = Pregnant

Despite her threats, the man on the other side of the door still laughed, and then replied; "Ah, so you're the one that called up the demons to invade our stronghold? Well, I'll have to thank you properly for that. Are you the redhead with the big tits I saw through my scope?" Under his words, Eleanor could hear a serious clicks, followed by the sound of metal clattering to the ground, and then more clicks. Her lightning elementals did not return and she had no link with them to know whether they were in position or not, but she also knew that they were as yet undamaged, so she at least knew that they hadn't run into any trouble yet. The only way she would know if the elementals were in position was when they attacked.

In her quick glance through the hole in the door, Eleanor ended up looking straight into the eyes of the man standing behind the door from barely five feet away. Out of her peripheral vision, she counted at least 4 others figures in the room, but her direct opposite's gaze held her paralyzed for the briefest of moments. He seemed to freeze as well, the shell in his hand pausing before he could push it into his rifle as the two stared at one another. "It's too bad about the other one. I would have liked to "thank" the both of you. But, well.... Orders are orders, and I was ordered to shoot." He said, slowly and quietly, though he was still audible enough for Eleanor to hear over the chaos of the mansion. The fighting upstairs and down had intensified, gunshots and screams and roars all easily distinguishable above the roar of the flames that were now consuming the mansion.

Re: She is the Night (Sir-Oni)

At the mans words Eleanor loses it; screaming in rage Eleanor's plan slips completely from her mind for the moment as she slams the palm of her hand against the hole in the door. Purple electricity crackles across her body before she fires off a bolt of lightning into the room.

At Eleanor's command, lightning blazed through the hole in the door, sending blackened splinters spinning into the room as those hidden within began to scream in pain. The door had started on fire, and a bullet immediately exploded through the door. The round tore easily through her leather armor and into the flesh of her shoulder, shaking her from her blind fury for a moment as incredible pain shot through her arm.

The elemental tore immediately through the door, Fido close behind, and the other two suddenly smashed through a wall on the right side of the room. There were four men in the room, and the one closest to her and one of the others was badly singed as he clicked the action on his rifle, loading another round. The other three had repeaters, and were already aiming at her even as her summoned allies charged at the men. One changed targets to her lightning elemental as it smashed its way into the room, the bullet passing through the elemental being and disrupting some of the magic animating it, but the creature proved highly resilient to such attacks. Another of the men, who was still twitching from her earlier lightning bolt, fired at her and missed.

Her hounds weren't so ineffective, however. Her lightning elementals savagely charged forward, and the injured man went down under one of the lightning creatures. Two others received deep gashes and electrical burns where they were struck, and the man who had been speaking was promptly buried under Fido, a sickening crunch followed by a tearing sound and an explosion of blood signaled the man's fate.

Two injured mercenaries left against her and her four creatures made for good odds, but her shoulder throbbed painfully as blood ran down her body. Ending this soon would definitely be an excellent proposition, so that she could have a look at her wound.

Re: She is the Night (Sir-Oni)

Eleanor braces herself against the pain as the bullet pierces her shoulder, the sting of the cold metal almost a pin prick compared the the anguish and rage thundering through the woman's body. Stepping to the side to allow Fido entrance to the room, and to the taunting mercenaries throat Eleanor watches as the two elementals burst through the wall, attacking the remaining men and downing one of them.

With the electricity crackling over her body quickly dissipating Eleanor reaches for her guns once more, her eyes locked onto the two remaining men. "You had your chance," The mercenary speaks to the men, her voice void of emotion. "Answer my questions and go or die where you stand. Looks like you made the wrong choice." With that Eleanor lets loose a barrage of shots at the two men hoping to end this battle so that she can continue her way to the leader of these assholes.

(Full round Rapid Shot, one target per gun. If she kills the men she'll check them over for anything to heal and other items.)

Attacks: She can't really miss.
Damage: They both die by the end of the round. That's really all that matters.

No healing items are to be found, but she does find 120 denarii and gains 6 experience!

Raising her guns despite the painful throbbing in her shoulders, Eleanor put shots into each man's chest, both crumbling to the ground and quickly gargling out their last breaths with lungs that were filling with blood. Neither could even speak in response to her words, and her elementals and Fido all quickly moved to the side, waiting for her to finish so that they could leave the room.

Eleanor found nothing that might be used to quickly heal the bullet wound in her arm among the bodies, but their leader had a pouch of coins on him that would be easy enough to pocket. The men all had their weapons and armor, but nothing that she really had a use for, and no ammunition for her own chosen weapons was to be found among them either.

Suddenly, a thunderous crash could be heard from above, and the entire house shook violently, such that Eleanor was knocked from her feat and fell onto her wounded shoulder painfully. Debris fell from the ceiling, and flames suddenly flared to life above her. The floors above must have collapsed, but over the tumult of all the falling debris, she heard human voices in the hallway outside, shouting something she couldn't understand. Fido and her lightning elementals had weathered the rumblings of the house far better than Eleanor had, and were still standing in wait, though Fido was glancing around nervously.

Re: She is the Night (Sir-Oni)

As the men took the full force of her attack and dropped to the floor Eleanor finally allowed herself to relax a little, though her attack had aggravated the gunshot wound and pain suddenly shot through her body. Arched forward slightly the woman growls out in pain, her hand gripping the wounded shoulder. The sudden tremor didn't help matters either, sending an unbalanced Eleanor crashing to the ground and with it another tidal wave of pain washed over the mercenary.

Struggling to her feet Eleanor leaned against the wall for a moment for support as she tried to focus on what was currently happening. From the strength of the heat above her it was obvious to the woman that going further up the building wasn't an option now, and if she lingered in this room for much longer it would most likely end up falling on top of her and the voices coming from the corridor didn't sound all that promising either.

"I know how to pick my battles, eh?" Eleanor said jokingly to Fido, a small laugh accompanying it though her expression was far from jovial, her voice weak and the colour from her already pale face fading with each passing minute Eleanor left her wound unattended. Deciding it would be better to treat the wound before diving head first into whatever hell awaited her in the corridor Eleanor prepared herself for the removal of the bullet, no doubt a painful procedure though the mercenary shouldered the pain. If and once the bullet was removed Eleanor would tear strips from the men's clothing, making and tying makeshift tourniquets to ease the flow of blood to the wound before applying and tying a few more strips of material to the wound itself as a makeshift bandage. Once bandaged and ready to go Eleanor gave the men one final look over, pocketing the money found on the apparent leader of the group before heading out of the room, making the lightning elementals take point as she slowly comes up behind them with Fido following in the rear.

Re: She is the Night (Sir-Oni)

Eleanor: HP = 57, PP = 51, EP = 40, Status = Pregnant

Eleanor stays in the burning building for a time, paying little heed to the collapsing building as she tears bandages from one of the men's clothes, removes the bullet from her shoulder, and then applies them as a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. Still pale and weak, but slightly less so than she could have been under the circumstances. The voices were long gone by the time she left the room, and her elementals had expired, vanishing into thin air as quickly as they had come. Fido had stayed with her, but the hellhound's ears were pulled back in irritation. When they stepped out of the room, there was a thunderous crash, and the ceiling collapsed practically on top of them. Fido pushed her out of the way, but a wall of burning wood had fallen in their path, and the ceiling was covered in flames and creaking ominously.

The hallway behind them had a window at the far end, but several sections of the floor were covered in open flames, and some had collapsed completely, leaving gaps of six feet or more. The hallway branched a ways to their left, but Eleanor had no idea what direction it might go in. They didn't have long before the whole building burned down.... Or collapsed on top of them. Fido glanced down at Eleanor, who had fallen on them, and barked sharply at her, as if trying to tell her something.

Re: She is the Night (Sir-Oni)

"Ergh, looks like this mission is a failure..." Eleanor mutters to herself as she slumps against a wall, her exhaustion and the heat getting to the mercenary. "Can't see the client taking this very well." Sliding down the wall Eleanor drops to the floor, her recent failures; both the mission and failing to keep Aulekia safe begin to take their toll on the woman.

Especially Aulekia.

Tears begin to well up in Eleanor's eyes, content with letting the building collapse and wash away her mistakes. Though it is Fido's barking that snaps the woman out of her stupor. Fido. Looking up at the demonic beast a very faint smile appears on Eleanor's face. Even after the death of Aulekia he stayed by the mercenary, of which she was thankful for.

Ruffling the dogs head Eleanor weakly climbs to her feet, staggering for a moment before she rests an arm against the wall for support. "Doesn't look like this building will stand for much longer," Eleanor says to the beast, unsure if he can actually understand her but based on his previous actions assumes he gets the gist of what she says. "Think you're up for a heavy burden?" Staggering as she takes her arm off the wall Eleanor climbs onto Fido's back, sure that at his size he'd be able to carry her for a little while. "Try to avoid any people, never know who'll attack us. Though if I'm right the ones we heard earlier would be heading out of the building... Maybe we'll be able to catch them by surprise." Eleanor now leaves the exit up to Fido, confident that he'll do his best to get them both to safety.

Re: She is the Night (Sir-Oni)

Eleanor: HP = 57, PP = 51, EP = 40, Status = Pregnant

Fido lowered himself down so that Eleanor could more easily climb onto his back, and then something that might have set Eleanor to panicking under other circumstances. Blackness wrapped around her body, shadows twisting and holding her against the hellhound's back, covering her almost completely and preventing her from moving much. The hellhound immediately took off down the crumbling hallway at a run, bits of debris sometimes falling onto the beast. Nothing seemed to slow Fido in the slightest, however, and he leaped over the holes in the floor without any trouble.

The beastial demon picked up speed steadily as he charged down the hallway, Eleanor adhered to his back, until he reached the window. One more powerful leap brought Fido through the glass, shards of it going with them as they came out into the open air, and suddenly Eleanor could breath easy again. They fell, Fido's leap having brought them clean over the fence surrounding the burning mansion and a good fifty feet beyond, but as they did so Eleanor spotted a group moving to the West, deeper into Artmirst, and among them were not only a group of barely dressed women in chains, but several men bearing rifles. She couldn't tell if any of them spotted her.

They hit the ground with a thud, Fido landing on his feet and continuing to barrel down the street, letting his lateral momentum play itself out a bit rather than trying to stop. Finally, they came to rest about four hundred feet from the mansion, and the shadows that had surrounded Eleanor receded as the hellhound slowly lowered himself to the ground.

Re: She is the Night (Sir-Oni)

Eleanor's brow furrows as she spots the men, and the women she is contracted to rescue. Determination shines in her eyes at the second chance the woman has been given and Eleanor will be damned if she'll fail again.

"Get Aulekia's body and head to where I first met her," Are the first words to come out of Eleanor's mouth when she climbs off the beasts back, her words full of authority and the same determination that shows in her expression. "You'll know it when you come to it, it'll... you'll be able to pick up our scents." For a moment Eleanor allows herself to play that memory over in her head before snapping back to reality. "If not then you should be able to pick up a trail of her blood. Something those bastards did to her. Don't come out of hiding until you can pick up my scent."

Eleanor waits until Fido shows he's understood and goes off before she gets to work summoning up some help. Once she's conjured up some elementals, or failed at doing so, Eleanor heads in the direction the group of men were going, making sure to keep herself from being easily spotted. If she does catch up to the men she'll hang back a bit, listening in on any conversation to glean as much information as possible before she's ready to make her attack.

Fido whined and pawed at Eleanor upon being ordered away, glancing between her and the burning building repeatedly as he remained locked in place for at least a minute. Finally, he whined again one last time, and then set off back toward the mansion, glancing back at her repeatedly until he turned left and vanished from sight. Despite the throbbing wound on her shoulder and the ever growing list of traumas that Eleanor had suffered, she could still hold on to her concentration enough to replace the elementals. She had to go the same way that Fido had gone to catch up to the men, but when she passed by that area the hellhound was nowhere in sight and Aulekia's body was gone.

The streets of Artmirst were quiet save for the crackling of her lightning hounds once she could no longer hear the burning of the mansion, and Eleanor made good time following the men. She had to remain hidden lest they spot her and command her elementals to do the same, but it wasn't long before she could see a group of people that looked like her target moving up ahead of her.

Then, out of nowhere, a big white wooly spider the size of a large dog dropped down in front of her upside down, its eight eyes all shiny and black as they peered into hers. They were maybe three inches apart, and it hung from the roof of a building she had taken cover beside. Then, in a high pitched, excited voice, the spider said; "Hi!!!!!!!!!!!! What's your name!? You're cute!" There were at least four of the spiders hanging above her, she noted, and another four on the opposite building. None of them were doing anything overtly hostile, or at least not yet.

Eleanor's guns fly up at the large, seemingly intelligent spider as it drops down in front of her, the mercenary mentally chastising herself for not paying as much attention to her surroundings as she did to the men she is tracking. "...Shit..." Eleanor mutters as she notices there are far more spiders than she and her elementals can deal with. Putting her pistols away the young woman decides that perhaps these monsters can be reasoned with.

"Eleanor. Eleanor Whitehurst. And keep it down," The mercenary replies with, her tone a bit more aggressive than perhaps what she was aiming for. "There're men I'm tracking, I don't want them to know I'm following them until it's too late for them." She explains, her tone losing some of the hostility that it had mere moments ago. For now Eleanor's content with talking to the creatures, the men won't be able to go too far without her being able to catch up and the spiders don't seem to be hostile though the mercenary keeps herself alert and ready just in case that all changes.

"Oh! Sorry!" The spider replies, its high pitched voice still mildly loud but at least a little bit quieter. The spider rotates around, searching, and spots the men receding off in the distance. It spins about again, and ends up getting one of its legs caught in its own webbing. Spinning and flailing desperately for a second, the white wooly spider ends up all tangled up in its own webbing, but that doesn't seem enough to diminish its mood.

The creature sounds just as happy, if not more so than before even, as it says; "So, Eleanor! That's an extremely cute name! It suits you perfectly! What are you following those men for, anyway? They looked really mean!"

Re: She is the Night (Sir-Oni)

Eleanor groans quietly as the furry spider gets tangled in its own web, idly wondering how it has managed to survive though finding the creature somewhat amusing. Finally deciding that these spiders, as creepy as they look, pose no immediate threat to her Eleanor allows herself to let her guard down for what seems like an eternity. "I've been contracted to rescue the women those men have captured," Eleanor replies as she leans against the wall of the building, folding her arms over her chest. "And I've got personal reasons for wanting those men dead. Or rather to destroy the group those men work for." Eleanor pauses for a moment before pushing herself off against the wall, standing up properly once more.

"Tell you what," Eleanor begins as an idea forms in her mind. "How about helping me take out those men? More people should make the job easier, and once this contract is up and I've dealt with those bastards I'll have no reason to stay in Artmirst. I'll be heading to Crolia to settle down, you're welcome to join if you want."

(Eleanor can have 6 experience for the mansion incident.)

"Oh! Are they your friends? The girls I mean, not the men!" The spider asked, still spinning about and flailing its legs. Two of its companions started down the web line it was on and began helping it get free. "Sure! We'll help you! They looked mean and angry, and they had people as slaves. And this place stinks anyway! There's no one here but mean people that always try to kill us. And demons."

The other spiders began chittering excitedly, probably at the idea of getting out of Artmirst. The spider that had done all of the talking was quickly freed of its bindings and dropped to the ground onto its back in front of her. Its legs flailed for a moment before it managed to right itself, and then it held up a mandible to her and said; "So, we'll help you get your friends back, and then you'll let us come with you to wherever it is that you're going. Deal?"

Re: She is the Night (Sir-Oni)

"Friends?" Eleanor repeated, a bitter smile forming on her lips. "No, those women are nothing to me. I've simply been contracted to track down and rescue them, and I'm going to honour that contract."

"This battle isn't going to be easy," Eleanor begins once the spiders had accepted her proposal. "They're trained mercenaries, though we have the advantage as they aren't aware of us tracking them. And I want as few of these men dead as possible. They've got to answer for what they've done, and I intend on making them suffer as much as I can give before giving them the death they'll crave after it. If it's possible I want you all to bind their arms and legs, that should stop them from being able to mount an effective counterattack." A grim expression coupled with a twisted smile forms on Eleanor's face. Finally having the chance to get vengeance on the people that have made her life the hell it has been these past several years fills the young woman with vigor.

Once the spiders are ready to leave Eleanor would set off for the men once more, remaining hidden as well as she can until her group can get close enough to launch a surprise attack.

"Oh.... I see." The spider replied when Eleanor told them that she wasn't friends with the girls she intended to rescue, only doing so in order to honor her contract. It sounded extremely sad for some reason. "Oh, we're used to danger! The demons and the other humans try to kill us all the time, especially the black spiders. Wait, I think I already said that.... Anyway, they're really mean! And we don't like killing, so that won't be a problem."

The spider flails the mandible that it had offered her, but then lowered it. She thought it looked disappointed, though since it was an arachnid it was very hard to tell. The spiders started off along the rooftops at once, the one she'd spoken to climbing up to join them, and Eleanor and her conjured elementals set off in pursuit of vengeance once more.

As they moved through the desolate streets of Artmirst, Eleanor counted about fifteen of the spiders moving amongst the buildings, flinging themselves across with lines attached and allowing their brethren to follow after across the lines they left. They seemed to have no trouble keeping up, even when moving across whole streets, and they were fairly quiet about it as well. A few turns later, however, and Eleanor lost sight of the men for a moment. When she reached the spot where they had disappeared, Eleanor found herself at an intersection where two large streets met. On one corner there was a ruined old butcher's shop, on another a half collapsed warehouse, the third had a guard tower and the last had what looked like a municipal building of some sort. There was no sign of the men and their captives on any of the adjoining streets, and the spiders were already going toward each of the buildings, searching from the top.

Re: She is the Night (Sir-Oni)

Eleanor keeps silent as she and her group moves through the streets of Artmirst, her attention, and pistols, ever ready should someone or thing make an attempt on their lives. Coming to the crossroads Eleanor finds herself slightly disappointed that nothing has tried to attack them yet, though the thought of her vengeance getting closer brings a smile to her face.

Eleanor watches the spiders silently scurry to each of the buildings, thinking that it was a good choice to offer them a place in her family. Not only for protection, but for company as well. The woman sighs as she has to make her decision, one that could cost her still more lives. But it is a choice that has to be made. Concentrating, Eleanor attempts to tap into whatever has helped her track the group responsible for her lords, and Aulekia's death.

There seemed to be little sign of the men and their captives, but on a lucky break Eleanor spotted a spot of fresh blood on the doorstep of the warehouse. It was still warm and wet, and further inside Eleanor found an uncovered manhole amidst a pile of rubble. It led down into the dark tunnels beneath Artmirst, and another few droplets of blood led up to it. The spiders closed in to huddle around her, glancing down into the darkness below with some concern. "Are we gonna follow them down there?" One of them asked, and she couldn't tell if it was the same spider that she had spoken with earlier or a different one.
