I think most of that is pretty doable, actually.

wow that is allot of switches to work out, and very well written, I would have one hell of a time just working out the code to work it all out, but if I was writing it in C++ I know i could get it, but no idea about getting it working in RPG maker

Re: [RPG Maker] Tentacle Lair Escape: Apocalypse

What i like:

- The rain in the town is a nice touch, it adds a depressing feel to the opening scene, and helps convey to the player how desperate the situation is.

- The Graveyard area, again with Rain, is there anything more depressing than rain on a grave? i like the feel of this area.

-The Area outside of the Purple tentacle lair, with the purple tentacles taking root in the area, the landscape has been transformed to reflect their hostile nature, the pools of purple sludge hurt your character, a hazard which i feel makes sense given the purple tentacles nature of inflicting pain on their victims.

What needs some work:

- While the forest is more linear and an improvement over the previous one, i still feel that it is too big, empty and complex. when the player is running into dead ends continuously, it gets tedious very quickly, and if they become lost too early in the game they may decide that the hassle isnt worth it, your opening area should be very linear and basic, it should be a straight path with minor detours in order to acquire minor items on the path to your destination, doing this allows the player to learn the basics of the game such as combat and get into the story, rather than having to sort through all of the complexities which come as more of an annoyance than a challenge.

- The Purple tentacle lair is also, quite complex and has too many dead ends, while a gigantic lair main lair would have several floors and various landmarks and assigned areas. smaller tentacle lairs are simply a path into a big room where the overlord and most of its captives are held, along the way, the character might encounter pockets where she would encounter guardians, but other than that, a small tentacle lair is very basic.

Also keep in mind that each of the areas should have some kind of a purpose, any room the tentacles would construct would take valuable resources and energy away from them, so they probably wouldn't simply build an empty room just so the player has another confusing obstacle to hinder them.

Re: [RPG Maker] Tentacle Lair Escape: Apocalypse

Okay. I may just copy pasta the forest areas, or build other maps and put them in later after the newer ones. Hrm..... I might be able to use the plain black tile and remove some of the rooms in the purple lair. Or something........ I dunno yet. I like the feel and theme of the forest areas, I feel it works for green. I might be able to take out the lost forest and make the map before it a little smaller. I could also take out the world tree area where I plan on having the green lair be. The altar at the end is where I intend a/the green Overlord or Rachel to be waiting for the player. I could make it smaller, I just wanted to get a good foresty theme/feel for the way the tentacles are meant to be. Also I intend to make a few maybe more barren areas or deserted towns at the top of the graveyard area, leading up to the mountains. One quick question, the Whites moved away from mountains yes? Cause as you might be able to tell, I had intended for every tentacle area if not places leading up to tentacle areas to be themed for each color of tentacle. I plan on having the path to Alumae's castle or the red tentacles and Xozz to be the last boss battles and areas, like dark, corrupted, spooky areas and Xozz's lair to possibly be a lava island or something to that effect. I'll try to fix things when I get a good time and opportunity to. Thanks for your input though. :)

Re: [RPG Maker] Tentacle Lair Escape: Apocalypse

Not a real update but a quick insight on my idea for the game.

I will still stick closely to they CYOA but I want it to fit my own view of the characters, somewhat:

Ella: Good (Can shift between Lawful,Nuetral and Chaotic depending on your actions and which angel you get.) How I'm trying to play her in the CYOA is she is the more physically powerful/imposing version of Zoey. She believes in a coexistence between tentacles and humans, but can actually fight for it unlike Zoey.
Zoey: True Neutral/Chaotic Good- See believes in coexistence like I'm trying to shape Ella in the CYOA, but she is more of an administrator. Behind the scenes, guiding and leading things, or more rogue like. She isn't very dangerous on her own, but like Sofia if she has tentacles with her (or hopefully Ellla) then she is truly something to fear.
Eva: Neutral/Chaotic Good- She's a resistance leader/rebel. She believes in doing things she feels are best for humans and fears and hates tentacles because of her backstory. Now while I don't know how she might have been able to shape and change since we ended up picking Ella for the game, She is a ranger/leader. She can fight tentacles but only from a distance or behind other people. If she is up close and personally confronted by a tentacle, then she is figuratively and literally fucked. Not as helpless or weak as Zoey (so to speak), but no where near as dangerous as Ella or Sofia.
Sofia: Chaotic Neutral/Chaotic Evil: As Serifyn stated, she is an evil selfish bitch. Kind of like the Drow in DND. She is in it for nothing but her own personal gain and power and cares nothing for who she might have to step over/hurt/kill/betray to get it. That includes tentacles, demons and any other race she might "ally" herself with. She isn't much on her own, but give her a few tentacle canon fodders/companions and she could probably mess you up.

The way I see it, THE demon race as A WHOLE, not even Alumae even; are the TRUE villains/bad guys of the CYOA, and therefore ultimately my game. It will be a bit of work, but I plan on putting in dialogue between your PC and any party member NPCs or Tentacle Overlords- as well as characters like Alumae,Laura, and Olivia- where you can either choose to kill them or accept help from them or something; there by determining the path you take in the game and ending. There is no Good/Bad Ending, unless you just get GO and subsequently GOR'ed too many times. But if you can make it through the game and beat the demons/Red then that would be the actual "good ending". It will just be altered by your actions in game.

I hope this all makes sense..... I tried to make it as clear as I can, heehee ^^;;

Re: [RPG Maker] Tentacle Lair Escape: Apocalypse

I was playing some wow today (yea, im that bored) on my warlock and i thought for a moment about how warlock is alike like how i envision Sofia to be, but expanding on that, here is an exploration piece i am writing on what her 'class' would be all about.

Use this as a referance as much as you want, i figured leaving this here is as good a place as any :D.

Sofia is basically a rogue character who has spellcasting abilities, later in the game she can choose whether to become a princess or something else, choosing to become a princess will mean she is able to drain power from human targets as she does from tentacles, as well as add specific new abilities to be used against both tentacles and humans.

At the end of the game, Sofia will gravitate towards either a rogue or an 'evil' mage type role who drains and debuffs her enemies until she is ready to release huge attacks with the energy she has accumulated throughout the fight.

Name: Sofia Bettman

Age: 23

Breast Size: Average

Hair Color: White

Skin tone: Pale

Class: Essence Reaver

Description: Sofia has spent years living off of the land, using the tentacles for her own use, manipulating them is not easy, they are stronger and faster, but Sofia was always smarter and her will for control was stronger.

For years, Sofia fed from the creatures slowly building up a resistance to the addiction of tentacle semen and slime, eventually she became immune to the effects on her mind, and would actively hunt the tentacles for their fluids, she had become the predator and her mentality on life changed after that.

Sofia grew more powerful than the average human because of her diet on unfortunate tentacle creatures which she hunted down, her mind started to become dark and she started to see everything around her as a tool to be used for her own advancement.

Sofia is a selfish and heartless person, willing to betray anything or anyone in order to add to her ever growing power.

Stats:

Low Strength,
High Speed,
High Intelligence,
Low Endurance,
Medium Spirit,

Weapons and Equipment:

Weapons of choice: Daggers, knifes, staves, wands, other 'light' weapons

Armor of choice: Cloth Primary, Leather if specced.

Skills:

level 1 skills (At the beginning of the game):

Hide: Sofia ducks from combat momentarily, if she has allies, enemies will attack someone else besides her, otherwise they will attack her anyway.

Stab: Sofia jabs her blade weapon (must be using a blade weapon) into her enemy, causing them internal damage. SPEED BASED DAMAGE.

Essense Tap: Sofia deals a small amount of magical damage to a wounded tentacle enemy, Sofia gains twice the damage done as HP. INT BASED DAMAGE. Gains 5 Energy.

Level 3 skills:

Sweep: Sofia runs her blade through her enemies (must be using a blade weapon), doing damage to all enemies. SPEED BASED DAMAGE.

Level 5 Skills:

Power Suck: Sofia Wraps her mouth around a tentacle creature and drains it's attack power, adding it to her own, gains 10 energy.

Level 7 Skills:

Ambushing Fuck: Initiation attack (Sofia always attacks first this turn) (usable only from hidden state from 'Hide') Sofia leaps from the shadows onto a tentacle creature, paralyzing it and doing a percentage of its attack damage to her that turn, but Sofia gains 20 energy.

Level 9 Skills:

Backstab: Initiation attack (Sofia Always attack first this turn) (Usable only from hidden state from 'Hide') Sofia ambushes her victim from behind and stabs them in the back for massive damage, human target, she will take even more damage and become Paralyzed for the rest of that turn (Sofia ambushes their anus and 'backstabs' them.) SPEED BASED DAMAGE.

Level 10 Skills:

Empower: Sofia uses 50 Energy and boosts all of her stats for 5 turns, each of her abilities do bonus damage and all of her attacks on tentacle creatures return 25% of the damage done as heals on Sofia.

More to come....

Re: [RPG Maker] Tentacle Lair Escape: Apocalypse

Played around with patrolling enemies in the purple lair, but somehow made them invisible, that's what the map is for.

Try that

Re: [RPG Maker] Tentacle Lair Escape: Apocalypse

Redid the purple lair, at first they wouldn't move, then I tinkered around a bit with them, but haven't playtested. I'd appreciate if someone in the know would look over them (if they don't move) and let me know what needs fixing.
