Deciding to chose her battles, Aura quietly shut the door on the room of spiders. After listening for a moment to see if they were compromised, Aura and Mary quietly backed off and moved to the stairs. They began to move up them single file, once they reached the top, the stairwell put them in one large room. Looking in, Aura saw another four spiders. None of them noticed her. Unfortunately, it was one large open room with a number of consoles, this was unquestionably the room they needed to use to fix what was wrong with the security system. Mary was waiting on the stairwell, making sure nothing surprised them in the meantime while Aura decided what to do.

Four of the damn things. Four! Aura bit her lip. If they could fight them one at a time, preferably with some time to rest in between, it was doable. All at once... well, it would depend on how strong the things were. But there didn't seem to be any other way. She motioned for Mary to come up beside her, and whispered. "We're... going to have to take them out. Split up, to blind as many as we can with our lights."

Then she turned her attention to the spiders, and steeled herself. Aura started moving towards the nearest spider, flashlight in one hand, axe in the other. As soon as any of them seemed to notice her - or if she managed to get in melee range without any noticing - she'd shine her light into the one's eyes, then start swinging. One armed attacks weren't exactly ideal, but if the light really did daze the spiders, it might be better this way.

Blinding a spider means they take -4 to rolls, but it ends up being -2 after their hard mode bonus. 1 turn without the light in their eyes reduces the penalty from -4 to -1 (or +1 on rolls after bonus), and no penalty after 2 turns of not having the light in their eyes

I'll do multiple rounds next time, wanted to give you a chance to plan around the blindness rules since I didn't lay them out beforehand.

The two girls crept into the room rather stealthily. It appeared quite open, though like the room downstairs, the walls were covered in thick layers of webbing. Sneaking up on their targets, they flipped their lights on at the same time, blinding two spiders who hissed loudly in obvious distress, dropping from the web strands that suspended them and scrabbling blindly on the ground for a few moments. Aura and Mary both took advantage of this to get opening hits on the spiders.

In the meantime, the other spiders were awake and Aura ducked one that jumped at her from the side while a fourth spider shot some webbing at Mary, partially binding her legs together and impeding her movement ability.

So far, everything had gone better than Aura had feared. On the other hand... neither of the spiders they'd hit looked on the verge of death. The element of surprise was gone, and it was still four on two. Best not to think about that.

Instead, Aura took another swing at the spider she'd selected, before spinning to point the light at the other one attacking her. After that it would probably be best to try to finish off the first one, but it was hard to plan so far ahead in a fight against things she still didn't totally understand.

Aura got another hit on the spider, hurting it fairly badly, before things started to go poorly for her and Mary. As she turned to blind the other spider that was trying to web her, the one that was almost dead managed to shoot a webbing blast at her, catching her arm and simultaneously knocking the flashlight from her hand, sending it rolling into the web-wall, and completely sticking her flashlight-arm to her stomach. It was stuck pretty good, there was no way she would be able to get the web off and fight at the same time, she would have to pick one or the other. She could see her flashlight glowing in the webbed-wall, so she could make a break for that as well.

Mary was faring poorly too. The girl missed the spider on her second shot, before getting webbed twice in quick succession, greatly slowly her movement speed. Her legs were just about stuck, and some webbing on her back was slowing her swings as well.

And to make matter worse they heard a series of hard thumps against the door downstairs, and what sounded like the cracking of a door that was about to give way.

"Oh... fuck!" The fight wasn't over yet, but now it certainly wasn't going well. Aura tried to pry her hand away from her side, but it was stuck on good. She'd have to drop her axe for a moment to free it, and... and that didn't really seem like a good idea. The best idea was probably to make one more swing and run, but Mary's legs were so covered in webs that she was barely able to move. That seemed to be how the spiders would be trying to win... they hadn't bit or stung, just slung webs. Enough and the women would be helpless.

There didn't seem to be any particularly good plans. So Aura took one more desperate swing at the badly wounded spider, following up with a second attempt if the first was insufficient to kill it. Then, one way or another, she'd have to pull her arm free of the webbing and go for the flashlight again. Maybe then at least she'd be able to see a way out of this. She'd just have to hope that was the other three corrupted humans or some other danger breaking in downstairs, because if it was the other three spiders looking to join the fight...

Aura's swing in the dark missed the mark as her wounded target scuttled out of the way while Mary turned the lantern on the spider approaching her from behind, blinding it. When the wounded spider attempted to jump on Aura, she anticipated the move and caught it in midair with her ax, knocking it to the floor with an wound to the center of its face. It didn't get back up this time. Taking advantage of the quick kill, Aura made tracks for the wall and found her flashlight in no time.

Unfortunately the other spider she was fighting took advantage of her turned back, and as she stood up it managed to web her legs twice and ram her from behind, sending her straight into the webbed wall. She was totally stuck at this point, her only option being to fight her way free of the web-wall before she could even think of engaging the spider. What's worse is she would then only have a single hand to fight with, so she would have to choose between using the flashlight or her ax.

Things weren't looking to good for Mary either. After a brilliant counter move where she sliced the belly of the spider she had just blinded, she got webbed twice more, resulting in her arms being stuck to her. She would need some time to get the webbing off of her enough so that she could fight again. The only upside was that she still held onto both of her weapons, and one of her opponents was on its last legs.

From the sound of the crunching door frame downstairs, whatever was trying to break in, or break out if it was indeed the spiders, still needed more time. But it surely wouldn't be long now.

After a brief streak of good luck, Aura found herself pushed up against a wall. And stuck there. Hard. She looked around the room, hoping that Mary might be able to help. At least Mary had held onto her hammer and lantern, but both her hands were pinned by webs, and her legs were stuck together as well.

Still, giving up wouldn't help anyone. Aura used her free hand to try to pull herself free of the wall. If that worked, she'd grab her axe and try to help Mary finish off the badly injured one, then the one she'd nicked. If they were going to be captured, maybe they could at least reduce the number of spiders. Yea, there's a great plan. How long would it take for you an Mary to replace one spider each, if you were captured?

In a fit of desperation, Aura and Mary managed to free themselves from their entanglements enough to fight back against the spiders, managing to dodge the attacks of the three remaining arachnids. This time, however the spiders had been trying to bite them, rather than web them, signifying a change in their tactics. Given her prior experience with the wasps and the other creatures of the future, Aura could reasonably guess what would happen if they landed a bite.

Struggling over to Mary while she was as bound as she was wasn't easy, but she made it in time to help her friend and put an ax right between its eyes, killing the wounded one instantly. Mary turned around and blinded the other one she had been fighting with her lantern, leaving one blind but slightly wounded, and one unhurt spider.

Unfortunately for them, a sharp crack and a crashing sound indicated that something had given way downstairs and something else was about to enter the fight. A few seconds later, the three spiders from downstairs burst onto the scene.

The group of spiders were quickly all over the girls, Aura receiving a couple of quick love bites that predictably made her start to heat up with lust, Mary received a bite as well. It seemed the spiders were drawn to the amount of their comrades' blood on Aura, viewing her as more of a threat as most of the new arrivals targeted her and she soon found herself webbed into immobilization, unable to dodge effectively as hindered as she was by the webbing that had already bound her.

Another streak of luck, none of the spiders managed to land a bite as they seemed to suddenly decide that the women were webbed enough, and at the same time both Aura and Mary managed to free themselves to fight. Aura managed to finish off Mary's original target, which left only two, one of which Mary had already blinded.

Things still weren't exactly looking ideal, but 2v2 odds, the spiders with their webs and the women with their lights, was just about doable. Especially since neither woman was injured, and one of the spiders was.

Then one of the spiders managed to nick Aura's arm, and she stumbled backward. She hit something she hadn't seen, and felt another spike of venom shoot into her, leaving a definite tingling sensation. The redhead turned and saw three more spiders had entered the fight. She leapt away from them... and felt another heavy web hit across her back, sticking her to the floor.

Five against two now. Worse than when they had started. No element of surprise. Both women still held their lights, but if they kept having to stop fighting to free themselves from webs... Aura cursed out loud. She'd keep fighting, but it didn't seem very likely they were going to win.

Getting some leverage to push herself off of the ground with one arm, Aura managed to break free of enough of the webbing to get herself off of the ground and swinging her ax again while Mary blinded one of the spiders that had been after her. Thanks to that, Aura was able to get a clean shot at a spider that tried to bite her, knocking it back with a gash to it's body.

Unfortunately, while she focused on the one spider, the others were on her, delivering quick bites before retreating again. Mary faired little better until she and Aura managed to double team the one that was still dazed from the light and kill it. That left only four, and while the girls did a good job of staying away from them, one managed to get behind them in the dark, pouncing on Mary's back and sinking it's teeth into her neck, pumping it's aphrodisiac straight into an artery. The poor girl's faced flushed and she moaned in arousal, dropping to her knees and then continuing down until she lay on the floor with the spider on her back. After a moment she started to struggle back weakly, but she looked like she needed some help getting up.

But more importantly she was pinned by one of the spiders. With all the webs still weighing both girls down, the one spider might be able to hold her still while the other three finished off Aura herself. She couldn't let that happen.

Calling it a 'charge' would have been an exaggeration, but Aura hurried over to her friend and started taking swings at the spider on top of her. If she was able to force the spider off, she'd help Mary up, and they'd make their stand together.

In response to the threat to Mary, Aura managed to fight through her increasingly beleaguered status to deal a solid wound to the spider on top of the girl, saving her from more bites and allowing her to blind another spider.

Unfortunately, the heroic display left Aura open to once again find herself on the ground, webbed into an immobilized state, and with a spider latched onto her neck, pumping a steady stream of aphrodisiac into her veins. This was bad, and she needed to get the thing off of her right away, but she would have to fight through the webs binding her before she could even get to the spider on top of her. The question was, did she want to try? After a moment, the bite had actually begun to feel sort of nice, and the way the fuzzy spider rubbed against her was actually somewhat pleasing as well, she found.

"M-mm-mm...mmmm...." It started out as a cry for help as she realized she was even more trapped than Mary had been, but the heat burning between her legs and all through her veins turned it into something else entirely. It would feel so much nicer just to... give up.

But she couldn't. Not yet. Not while Mary was still fighting. The redhead forced herself to tug at the webs holding her in place, but felt the axe fall from her hand, joining her flashlight somewhere on the floor. Exactly why that mattered was starting to get blurry. When she was free enough from the webs, she'd push the spider away from her and try to get to her feet. Then it would be time to... to pick back up her axe, and... go to Mary again. And...

Still, in the end there were just too many spiders and they were too weighed down with webbing to fight them all. Aura tugged at her bonds. They didn't give. And even if they did, the twin spiders would easily recapture her, in her current state. Finally, she looked down. She felt light-headed. Her belly hurt faintly where it had stretched into an enormous pregnancy. And it certainly wouldn't be getting smaller before she gave birth. She shuddered.

Finally, she had caught her breath. "M-Mary? Are you... okay?" It was a stupid question, but she wanted to hear the other woman's voice.

Testing her bonds revealed to Aura that they were indeed secure. She wouldn't be going anywhere for awhile.

"Urgghhh...that sucked..." Mary hung limply in her bindings and looked at Aura with an exhausted expression on her face. "I'm alright, are you? I figure we've got...a couple of hours before we pop these eggs back out. And before you ask, yes I am speaking from experience." Aura couldn't exactly tell, but it looked like her companion might be glaring at their captors.

"I'm webbed up pretty tight, how about you?"

"I can't move. Maybe with a few hours I could work free. Or maybe not. And even if I could..." Aura strained to see the spiders. Who would surely notice if she spent a few hours getting a hand free. "How did you get free before? I mean... they aren't just going to let us go after, um, after we get rid of the eggs. Are they?"

Aura looked back down at her belly, still slightly disbelieving at just how big it was.
