The man looked at the list. "Hoh, quite a lot on here. Lot of things on demand. 'fraid it'll cost you, milady... Seventy-five denarii." he announced. It didn't take any market knowledge at all to know that was overpriced as hell.

The girl raised an eyebrow skeptically "Wow, he was not kidding." Seras was a fairly good liar, but a man who based his whole life on conning people of denarii may prove a equal or greater than her "25 denarii." it was slightly below the average price, but that was fairly the point. Start low and increase the offer, the bare basics of barter.

The bastard knew full well there were hardly any towns around, thus making his ware slightly more valuable than normal. Shame that at these prices they seemed to be gold embroided aswell! "I'm in no rush to receive these supplies, sir. Nor do I have to buy them from here. 28 denarii, sell them to me or my brother. He is not as pleasant as me, nor as generous." the girl kept a stern gaze at the man, she flatout couldn't pay any more than this. These were just campsite and trvale supplies, they still needed food and some denarii on the side for emergencies!

"My dear lady, when your brother comes, I shall tell him the same. 75 denarii for all that you need, and this includes food and the like, I can acquire everything on your list." he stated. "75."

She really shouldn't have named everything in one go, infact haggling when you have no real experience in it, may not have been the best of options "Then I'm affraid I'll be taking my denarii elsewhere" because she didn't have the denarii in question!... but that was something she'd better keep to herself. Well hopefully Leopolds survival skills would be enough for both of them.

Without a second glance back Seras would make her way out, the utility supplies were a convience afterall. What she actually needed was food. Though darn it the empty botles and bags would've made a world of difference, nevertheless perhaps this wasn't the only shop around... guess the girl would check for some fresh meat and visit the bakery she saw earlier.

Overpriced. The shopkeeper she spoke to let her go with only a grin. Overpriced. She went to other shops. Overpriced. She got their prices for what she needed to purchase.

Everything was overpriced.

This situation became immediately fishy when Seras would witness from afar, a man shopping at a location she was just at, and he was given a much lower price for everything. It became clear as well, what the merchants were after. They all grinned at her, they were all firm in their prices. Each was waiting for her to offer her body in order to pay, and such an issue was seemingly one that every single woman had in this town. If they didn't have a man to shop for them, then the shopkeepers overcharged them, and took advantage of them.

Suddenly, her written list (given by Leopold) and her purse was snatched by a man in a white hood and cloak, who proceeded right over to shop, directly in front of her. "30 denarii, my good man." the shopkeep said, taking money out of Seras' purse to pay for it, before collecting all of the supplies into a single bag, which he proceeded to stuff into Seras' arms. "Get out of this town." the hooded man commanded Seras in a deep tone.

Talk about a twisted town... indeed she knew what the merchants wanted of her, each an every single one eyeing her open, string-tied dress, each and every single one anticipating her submision one strong tug and the bountiful brunnete would be theirs to use and abuse.

Just as Seras was about to curse the town to the depths of hell, a man appeared and helped her out not sharing a name or even a conversation with her, just extending a hand to the lost girl "Thank you!" Seras blinked in disbelief "Thank you so much kind sir! I will." the girl bowed deeply as a gesture of thanks.

Seras most certainly had no problem leaving the town as soon possible, she felt far too many eyes already undressed her during the short and unpleasant stay. Hopefully unopposed and with the bag in hand she'd return to Leopold and share the load between them. Looked like they were set!... yet what exactly was the story with this town?

The man in white said nothing more as Seras thanked him, simply walking past her and vanishing into the town. When Leopold saw what she brought, he nodded. "You brought so much indeed, very well done. I suppose this town has gotten better since last I was here." he said with a nod.

Seras placed the items on the ground for Leopold to look over "I wouldn't say that Leo. Every single merchant inside wanted me on their cock..." the girl paused briefly "Well more than usual, but thankfully I found help and someone bought these items for us... otherwise." she sighed lightly "We'd have been in big, big trouble."

"You knew?" the girl crossed her arms lightly, her face clearly showed she wasn't angry, but woman being utterly and completely humiliated inside was something her companion should've shared with her prior to her entering it. Seras wanted to hear some details on this place, be it for pure curiousity reasons.

"I didn't exactly know... I just heard from the girl I met at the river that there were nasty men at that town. There were no rapes, so I wasn't too worried about you being taken against your will." he defended himself.

With that, they were free to either continue, or investigate the corruptions of that town.

Well there was no harm done "It's alright Leo. I didn't mean it like that, guess I'm a little bitter after that one smug merchant." the girl lightly shuddered "Everything in order?" she smiled warmly and after getting all set both of them were off... though Seras didn't really feel it was time to leave.

The town was none of her business, besides she couldn't do anything to change what may be years of "tradition". "Say Leo, what else did you hear about that town?" Leopold didn't seem the kind to pry, but she most certainly wouldn't get information from the townsfolk, nor did she really care to return there.

"About that town... I heard Julia, the girl I met, talk about how strange it was for a woman running a town and letting the men do as they please. I personally don't understand how a woman could endorse such activity."

"Me neither, Leo..." the girl glanced to he companion "But... for the record, not all towns are like that. Usually the town ruler only creates minor rules others abide to. While females aren't always treated fairly, we still have our ways to get by, without resorting to submiting to the mens desires" she smiled lightly "I used to be a innkeep in my town" the girl looked down "Do the gruff drink alcohol?...."

Seras would share some tales about her days in inn, how the men while perverted were forced to behave. The numerous tales of drunk brawls and festive dances, failed flirts and crazed rapists. Leo was just pleasant company to have around, polite to a fault and kind in heart. Unfortunately though the would leave the town and it's mysteries to themselves, Seras was no liberator. Just a simple unnoticed victim trying to get back home...

"Why, yes I do." he chuckled. "It's not strange to see one such as I engaging in acts of party and celebration, drink included."

Engaging in idle chit-chat, they walked along the roads, heading for the border. Along the way was your typical highwayman. A black skinned orc was sitting along the road, seemingly alone. Seeing Seras and Leopold coming, he rose and looked at them firmly. "The toll for this road is 5 denarii, each." he said, totaling up to 10 denarii for both of them. "Pay the toll, or you'll pay with your body."

"Where will this road lead us to?" damnit, the heroine knew traveling on the road would be trouble, but it made the trek so much easier. The heroine looked around, briefly making extra sure to check the surrouding tree tops. Highway men were never alone, NEVER.

"Unless you want his body, let him pass. I'll pay for my toll." Seras didn't want to risk getting Leopold hurt, nor was she keen on paying full price to the robber. 5 denarii for safe passage was not all that expensive.

He drew his weapon, a plain curved sword, and pointed it at her. "Maybe I didn't make myself clear." he said, before half a dozen other orcs, all holding bows, aimed at the two. "Pay the full toll, or we kill your friend and take you to be our personal bitch for the day."

Damned bandits. Seras scowled lightly as she eyed the orc who was likely the leader of this bunch "We're just passing by, no need for trouble." thankfully the girl her denarii in 2 pouches and threw one to the orc "10 denarii." making sure to keep the other from his sight.

It was not a battle the girl would rather fight, but losing money like this hurt both her pride and overall chances to easily reach Clock Town.

The orc checked the pouch for the correct amount of money, and if it was enough, he'd let the two through. If not, bad things would happen.

The sum was correct, Seras kept the remaining 20 denarii in 2 pouches each counting exactly 10, thankfully the highwaymen were true to their word and soon enough the duo continued on their journey. A little bit poorer than they first began.

"Damned bastards" Seras cursed under her breath, fuming lightly. Still 4 bows would cause the duo much more damage than 10 denarii could possibly cover "Perhaps we should avoid roads for the time being? Looks like the bandits are particulary active around here." not to mention some of them seemed to eye the girl for a uncomfortable amount of time, best be careful they were not tracked down once more.

Then again what was Leos take on what happened here? Perhaps the girl had a powerhouse at her side and would've sweeped the bandits asunder? Then again she couldn't bear to see Leopold in pain. He was her guide and friend, not some bodyguard.
