hi all, just got latest version of game off nyaa torrents, can someone plz explain to me how to do a frickin quickswap, for the tutorial and is there a decent guide or walkthrough for the game, thanks.

Confusing cause and effect perhaps? The Wild Hunt's inscription makes it difficult for enemies to cast spells at close quarters, so it's less likely the PC gets hit by the requisite stun and intimidation debuffs to trigger the Iron Jack's inscription. Unless I'm surrounded by really strong foes, I don't get stunned or reduced to below 50% HP easily.

You're probably right, I used to face consecutive big monster room at 70+ levels on the older versions but with the changes to the exploration counter I'll probably have to wait until 80+ before I'm forced to retire from this current round.

Barrier forest safehouse level 78: Practically all monsters I'm fighting now are at least level 50, my exploration counter goes up more or less every time I kill something. If the big monster house is going to make an appearance it should be within my next two runs.

@666steven007: Look back a few pages. User Monceber wrote a ton of stuff which will serve as a guide. If that's too much trouble for you, look up the Japanese wiki.

The tutorial isn't the most user-friendly around, but it does get the job done explaining the mechanics. I take it you can't understand what's been asked of you, so here are the answers to your questions.

1. Quick-swap: Press S to bring up the short-cut menu. It's the bottom-left option. Hold down and left arrow keys until the options is highlighted, then press Z to select. Open up your menu with the X key and then select the equipment/weapon you want, then press Z twice to equip the item without wasting a turn. Since it's the tutorial, you need to fire a warning shot in the direction of the about-to-be-eaten rabbit. If you're not facing the right way, hold the Q key and then face the required direction.

2. Long-jump: Only doable with guns equipped. Same deal using the short-cut menu only this time it's the A-key menu and the left-most option. You need a running-start to allow long-jump, the momentum from doing a back-flip counts for this. To do a back-flip, face a valid target and then press Q+Z together.

Barrier forest personal record: Level 82

Monster level range: 66-75
Loot: Ridiculous, inscription items dropping from 1 out of every 3 monsters.
Equipment durability: Shot through, monster stats are so high I can no longer rely on my +30 weapons to finish off monsters in a single turn.
Ecstasy gauge: So high the PC gets sexually aroused on her own volition. The boss armour inscriptions trigger far too often when surrounded.

In the end, I didn't trigger the big monster house of versions past, but there's no way even the strongest glass cannon builds can 1-hit any of the monsters at this point. Some monster combinations are semi-doable compared to others, but past monster level 50 is a good time to stop a barrier forest run and take a break elsewhere.

Actually, as someone with bad luck I will never farm out an alternative *sheep*.

You should give the barrier forest a try for the silence essences you need. Monceber has 3 silence essences from the phantoms there, I picked up 2 as well.

Odds are still astronomically low, but it'll be more challenging than running Belle in the regular city dungeon.

Now that I actually know how weapon crafting works, I regret throwing away those silence and pulse/knockback essences I got from barrier/erotion forest. /RegretfulBrag

Question about the Inscription drops: Do they act like Essence drops where Purify status increases their drop rates, or do they act like non-Essence drops where Purify status stops the monster from dropping them?

As of the latest version, the 浄化 status won't rob players of items with inscriptions. It won't raise the probabilities, but at least there's no need to take on a monster with one hand tied behind the back.

My redemption does more than 50% hp damage at the early stages, 1 hand tied behind back indeed *nod*

I am semi-giving up sealing essence, but farming city for quick etc. It's actually pretty efficient to run up to floor 15 and cycle back after full. (20k~30k per set, I wanna stack up to +30s before switching to barrier forest)

Main thing is, if I run barrier, it's going to be super extreme makai mode. Just because, (out of love)
Once I been beaten up, I will switch back to lower difficulties ._.

It's also possible to farm for etc in the forest, the problem is expenditure is also higher because of the repairs you will invariably require.

One difference for super extreme makai mode is that you won't need to go very far to get inscription items since level 10 or thereabouts has an average monster level of 50 which gives a small bonus to inscription item drop rates. If you make it monster level 100 and finish a round alive, then you can probably claim to have the strongest glass cannon build around.

Edit: Well it seems the RNG generator is in a good mood today. Quick run through the city and Belle drops the 3rd silence essence I need to craft the Alternative weapon. Now all I'm missing is a decent base rifle with either knockback 2, stun 2 or paralyse 2.

Thank you Harleyquin13, after much trial and error, I finally got was able to do quick swap and jump, whew, glad thats over, definately not the easiest thing in the world to do, now i can finally try and play this game my friend suggested. thanks big time

I'm not the only one. Monceber got all 3 silence essences in his collection from phantoms in the barrier forest.

Another reason to run the forest is for the inscriptions. You haven't picked up any yet and you're missing out on some of the fun.

Why would you want to turn it off?

In safe zones, the save file is different from 1-4 which are auto-save and frequently overwritten when you move from one part of a level to another. As long as you save your progress in one of the safe areas, you should have something to fall back on if adventuring goes pear-shaped.

Although there is an option relating to the auto-save in the configuration menu, there's nothing you can do with it.

No quick load, no quick save either.

Auto-save in this game cannot be turned off, it's not an option due to being rogue game, so your basically screwed when you die off.

Super Extreme Makai mode was ... brutal. At least with only the +13~22ish gear I was wearing. Takes only 3 floors (from 8~11?) to have all my armor durability go all the way down to 2~3 from 15.

Anyways, Makai mode, you cannot farm etc in barrier forest, the durability loss is much higher than whatever item you can sell. Seriously, 400+ etc per repair was brutality, I ended up spending over 3k in repairs.
Hence I am back to city farming. (Weapon wise, +27 revolver was the only reason I survived. Only has a +18 athame knife and +16 spined blade otherwise)

Note to self, never run without my +30 glass-cannon gears, half way doesn't work out *nano death*
