What are added or different in the mods?

As of now, nothing.

That's a bit unfair, but if you're worried that looking through descriptions and readmes to see what changed won't be worth your time, the mods certainly won't be. Usually they add one or two events with little or no new artwork, and any "new" artwork is always just minor changes to Hermione's clothes.

Mostly they add bugs, even if you get them installed perfectly. The one tutoring mod kept requiring me to manually put images in the right directories. Aside from the Russian version, there's at least one other overhaul in the works. Better to wait for those. Assuming they're ever finished, that is.

I got a question for you fine folk but how do i unlock Daphne? I speak with Snape and he sends her to me, then the large amount of post i get about her and then Snape says to let her come to me sends me some random info about her and then nothing i do works including waiting.

You have to ask Hermione about Daphne through the "Have a Conversation" option (IIRC the menu item is still untranslated). Hermione's level of depravity has to be high enough, and you may or may not have to do the perfume trick in the current version (buy perfume, examine it so Genie complains about it smelling terrible, then quickly summon Hermione).

Another likely-to-be-abandoned-suddenly effort that the 4chan folks started. I haven't bothered to discover much detail about it, but it sounded like someone was picking up the 4 Houses thing that had Cho, Narcissa, Astoria and Tonks as additional trainees.

Hi everyone, sorry I disappeared for so long. I lost my internet and had to switch computers with my brother and didnt have a flash drive to save all my work on so I have lost all of my translation progress for Russian witch trainer. However I just signed back into here and had a couple of messages including one from one of the developers that are working on the Russian Edition and he would like for me to finish the translation. The only problem is now I start work for Amazon at home in 6 days. Im going to make an attempt to translate this again but it took me more than a week to do what I did last time.

It's 2015, not the year 1999. Everybody has either a phone, MP3 player, portable hard drive or memory stick. Even a 1.44 MB floppy disk would be enough to save a couple of files. And of course his brother would instantly wipe the entire computer after receiving it.

I don't think anybody's complaining that he didn't finish the translation. It looks to me like they're saying he's making shit up.

Personally, I've seen a ton of projects fall off the map because of "hard disk failures", "OS crashes", "PC blew up", "lost my internet", and so on. I don't know that all or any of them are bullshit, but the frequency is such that I don't really believe people when they say things like that anymore. It's far easier for me to believe and understand that people decided to put their projects aside and play Metal Gear, than it is to believe such a large percentage of hard drives are just waiting for one of their owner's self-imposed deadlines to be imminent so they can fail and take all the data down with them.

That being said, who knows. It doesn't much matter in this case anyway.

I only lost it because I sincerely doubt that anyone on here would show their 16 year old brother a computer full of porn. I download almost every game that I see so yeah I had to dump everything before he got it

Truecrypt is magic. He can recover everything btw, Recuva is really easy to use for that task.

But we're on a sidetrack here. You are the translator the Russians were talking about for V1.5.2? Because that would be a massive bummer.

I am one of the translators for 1.5.2 but what we were talking about before was my attempt at translating a sort of stable 1.5.1, im still working with the Russian devs to finish 1.5.2

The problem is that you were doing a machine translation that you polished up with your own interpretations because you don't speak Russian. That's not exactly an exciting prospect for a translation. Just based on Khan, I don't think the developers can adequately communicate their intentions in English.

Your fan translation was a fine side project, but bringing you onto the development team in that capacity is more like a last resort than finding the best qualified candidate.

Edit: Wait, you're "one of" the translators? Is your job just polish after someone who actually speaks decent Russian and English has a go? Because that could actually work out. I don't know what they'd call that on an actual localization team, probably "localization script editor" or something of that sort.

They already have about 75% of the game translated, all im doing for them is the last little bit and proofreading the rest of the game. And from what was explained to me is that all they want is a machine translation so in some ways the way I was doing would have read clearer to a native speaker.
