Re: Akabur Games
You behave like a troll, Ronin, and in general I don't respond to trolls, but since you try to provide arguments (even though you try to do it in an insulting fashion), I'll react to you once.
I really liked his last update to Witch trainer.... sure it was not much but i enjoyed it.
Akabur had nothing to do with that. There has been nothing new from him for almost a year.
My whole point is that you guys come to this forum to bash Akabur.... That's your main reason for beeing here. JUST WHY?? What do you gain by doing that?
Actually, that is not the case. I can tell you that I came to this forum because I am interested in Akabur's work, and this is about the only place where a sane discussion of his work takes place. On his own Patreon page, you only see drooling fans who applaud loudly when their "master" releases a half-finished picture of a chibi. Akabur himself is not responding to criticism and is mainly spending time on discussing trivia and making promises, which he does not uphold.
And if you seriously like Akabur and claim to only want the best for everyone then don't grief around here and write him an email to express your "valued" opinions because i fucking doubt he will read your messages here.
Funny that you say that. Between the release of Princess Trainer and the release of Witch Trainer I had some email conversations with him, where I offered constructive criticism which he actually responded to. I saw in him the makings of a professional artist who was not only talented, but also responsible and hard-working.
After the release of Witch Trainer I again offered constructive criticism and got ignored, and Akabur's attitude completely changed. It was as if he had become a different person. He was unable to deal with criticism and became lazy. The few pictures he shows seem to be good, but he is producing very, very little.
What is most jarring about that text about "it's a tip jar" is that Akabur added that after the release of Witch Trainer. Before it was all: "Help me make more and better games!" Now it is: "Give me money if you like my work." I was trying to help him make more and better games. That was what he said that he would do with donations. I do not want to give him money for just existing, and when it became clear that that was actually what he wanted money for, I stopped donating.
So you can say: "Then don't give him any money but don't whine about it." The problem is that I think that it is exactly the deluge of money that he gets without doing anything solid in return, which is making him lazy. I think that if his income was around $2-3K per month, he would actually be working hard. I cannot be sure, of course, but if his pledges would drop to around the $3K level and that would make him work again, I would be happy, because I really enjoy his work. And it makes me sad that he basically stopped producing any.
FUCK OFF this post so people who actually enjoy his games can discuss his games here.
I can just as well say to you: if you do not enjoy reading the posts in this forum why don't you go away and talk somewhere else? Why do you want to turn a forum in which people have polite discussions about a topic that they feel strongly about into a forum where you can share your love for a game with other admirers of that game in badly-spelled, insulting posts?
It's not a platform to discuss the creator but the games he produces.
Whose rule is that? A forum is about what people who write on it write about. If you really want a forum that is meant to discuss everything you admire about Akabur's games, why don't you start a new thread to do that. Call it "share your love for Akabur's games here."
But deep down we all know why you are here..... You really LIKE him, Princess trainer blew your mind and you would love to play a more complete and upgraded version of it...
No, I don't like him. I like some of his work. PT did not blow my mind, I thought it was a mediocre game that had the potential to become better. I like Magic Shop a LOT, and I deplore the fact that he decided no longer to work on that game, but instead do PT:G. I was hoping for a while that he would get back to Magic Shop after he released PT:G, which I expected would happen in March 2015 or so, but it looks now like PT:G will never be finished. Oh, it will be RELEASED at some point, but it will not be finished. And I don't expect we will ever see another scene for Magic Shop unless Dahr creates it, and neither will we see the TMNT game that he was discussing for a while.
Face it, Akabur's financial success destroyed his ability to produce work.
It's sad and really pathetic.
Move on.
It's sad and pathetic to need insults to get attention. Move on.
