There's something I recommend anyone should do before playing this game.

Go into the settings(設定) menu and find Lock-on mode(ロックオンモード). The options are:
- オート(auto - nearby enemies are automatically targetted)
- スイッチ(switch - press to enable targeting, press again to cancel)
- ホールド(hold - enemies are targeted while you are holding the button)

You do NOT want the default auto setting. Your character will automatically target enemies at inconvenient moments just to screw with you.

Set it to switch or hold, then go into the keyboard remapping menu(キーボード・マウス配置変更) and change Lock-on(ロックオン, default: e) to your middle mouse button.

Ougi(奥義) is middle mouse by default, so you also need to change that to a convenient key (e.g. left ctrl).

This makes fighting much more controllable. Your character will always attack in the direction that you tell them to unless you specifically use the lock-on button to target an enemy.

If there's an issue with "middle mouse buttons," know that most mice have this function. You just push the scroll wheel down like a button.

A somewhat abusable glitch:

Select Hikari (brown hair) or Izumi (blue hair).
Jump, Attack x5, Ninjutsu, Attack x5, Ninjutsu, Attack x5 ...

(default: attack = left click, ninjutsu = right click)

The 5th jump attack causes you to go higher. You can cancel this attack at the peak of its height into ninjutsu (e.g. shuriken), and then immediately cancel that before it even does anything into another set of 5 attacks.

You'll gradually get higher and higher, which lets you reach high and distance places without Hayate (Pause menu, list on the right, basically the same as Rush in megaman)

Usually if a save isn't working you aren't putting it in the right spot or you have the game on but you already had a save file so when you replaced yours it kept yours (idk why some games just do this), so just make sure you are putting it in the right spot, your save is deleted and the game isn't on when you place it

I may be doing something wrong, but it seems I can't destroy any of the colored blocks besides the blue one.

I use the other character ultimates on the Red, Green, and Yellow ones and they don't break.

Anyone know why I can't get past them?

You get ninjutsu weapons for clearing stages 5-8. Those break the seals.

The sealed rooms in stages 1-8 invariably contain a maximum inventory boost for the weapon used to open them. After stage 8 there could be anything in there.

Ideally you should equip red, green, yellow and grappling hook. This ensures that you won't ever come across an inaccessible room. Blue isn't needed since you can just use Izumi's ougi.

The grappling hook isn't strictly necessary either due to the climbing glitch mentioned in my previous post, but it makes things a lot easier. If you're comfortable with the climbing glitch then swap it out for shurikens or something else that's more practical in fights.

I'm guessing you need to have the correct element to be able to break the block.
Example being you could break the blue (water) block cause you have the water element. You can't break the others cause you don't have the respective elements which you get from clearing the other element stages.

Again haven't tested to see if thats the case. Someone feel free to correct me if necessary.

Yeah that's pretty much it, but unlike everyone else Izumi's ougi also counts as ice (not water) so you can get into those rooms early. Bug? Intended? Hell knows.

I was just wondering if the one Ougi to blow open the blocks was on purpose or a glitch, but I guess it makes sense if you want to have all four and grappling hooks. Probably on purpose, then
