Oh do you need to use the "fix" link on the blog, too? Cause I grabbed the full version, which I have to assume is 1.2

EDIT: Wait did you mean wrong version of the game, or of the translation? Cause there only seems to be one link for the translation

EDIT 2: Gotta be the game itself, since the version I have does the exact same thing even without the translation applied. Start menu of a brand-new DL:

It really does seem to be a FastQSP thing - the normal QSP player at least loads the images properly, though it can't understand the formatting Jack uses

Take the apostrophe out of the path to the game directory.

My god. I would literally never have thought of that (and am still not sure why it makes a difference) - thank you so much!

Re: [SLG] Jack-o-nine-tails

Anyone know how to beat the tutorial on normal?

I can make her obey orders but I only get lackluster motivation(Excellent 1).

I could raise her mood to Cheerful sometimes but the motivation is still bad.

Make sure you don't spoil her. You can keep track of this with the first spell, the part near the bottom of her aura will tell you her situation. You want high devotion, taming, habit and obedience, and no spoiling. If you spoil them by rewarding them more than they deserve they become spoiled, which makes them always have penalty to mood unless you keep showering them with gifts.

Same goes with punishments though, so reward and punish according to their merit/guilt which show up under "achievements" next to energy on her portrait.

If all of that doesn't work, maybe just make her do something she doesn't like so you can punish her. works for me sometimes. Also, it helps to reduce her pride by making her perform shameful things like golden shower, exhib, etc.

And personally I always enable "force humility" rule, as it doesn't seem to have any downside in regards to attributes while boosting obedience, but only enable "urinal" when I need to lower pride.

Hope this helps a bit, if not a little trial and error might do the trick, and for me it is helpful to keep track of her aura so you can see what you need to focus on.

I have the same question, how do you actually offer/ sell your slave to those with requirements? I can't figure how to brand a slave.

How to brand:
1) Have an unbranded slave
2) Walk to quarter of the outcasts
3) Enter "Patterns of Uncle Bo"
4) Brand tattoo

Re: [SLG] Jack-o-nine-tails

How do you make the slave in the Hard Tutorial become more obedient ?

It seem there are no punishment work on her. Also she is too prideful and often try to attack me with end up as me beating her and leaving trace of beating on her body.

Also can anyone explain to me how battle work, all i do i keep pressing randomly and hope i win.

Bruises heal after some time, only scars are a problem, and health(has less actions). Also you can heal scars at the technosphere for a price(not in tutorial).
She might have some fobias you might exploit(haven't tried hard mode yet).
If you keep punishing her with high guilt she will obey eventually, you need to use some force that is unavoidable.

Also talking to her about her feelings will tell you what problems she has for her mood.

First make sure you equip a weapon, you click when you ready for battle(so that it disappears).

You have 3 hearts red health, green stamina and purple morale.
Purple is shit(with Blade character) but it seems to grow in battle.

I have no idea how different enemy attacks affect the different hearts.

Also the different attacks gives buffs and debuffs for you/enemy.

Make sure you don't spoil her. You can keep track of this with the first spell, the part near the bottom of her aura will tell you her situation. Normal is spoiled from the start. I will try to crush her pride and see if it helps.

Re: [SLG] Jack-o-nine-tails

In the tutorial, remember that the most important factor is time. That being said, since you cant make any money and lose money every 10 days, try to be as stingy as possible. Dried dog food is good enough. No gifts are needed or anything like that, try to keep casting weird spells at a minimum too since they cost money. And every phobia and philia needs to be used, try to discover them all. Also, dont try to maximize all of the devotion/fear/bla stats, just try to maximize one and keep raising that one.

My way of beating the tutorial (might spoil the fun for you):

I had the most success making my slaves obedient through habit. Sooner or later and even without any fear, your slave will at least try to do what you tell her. After some time, she will feel inclined to do what you say because she did what you said so many times already. And because of the no fear/pain factor, you can even get her to be rather happy (or at least content), which is also very important for successful lessons.

3 questions here.

Do the skills go down if you don't train them after a while? Because I think I've seen green/blue stuff go pink.

Second question, is there a solid way to make money in this game aside just selling slaves?

Third, how do battles work? Really. I am not sure if I am doing it wrong or the enemy is just too powerful.

1. Skills dont go down after a while, but some attributes might suffer from bad training methods. You slave may become fat if overfed or skinny and unhealthy if not properly fed. Also, some skills can actually be lowered via special events, iE. if you split the toungue of your slave, some skills might suffer penalties.

2. Selling slaves is pretty much the only way to make money in the game. All the other options boil down to training a slave no matter what.

3. Battles are not complicated, but most require immense amounts of fighting skill and stats as well as good equipment. I never even bothered fighting big fog fiends and the like.

Slaves with fiend spawn. Easiest way to find one is beat up a young fiend at the border and the girl you rescue is probably pregnant with fiends. On occasion girls at the slave market could be as well so make sure to check them at the hospital. If not cured, after a week or so fiend larva will burst out of the girl, killing her. You can catch and keep/raise the fiend if you have a fiend pen(rent one at the real estate extension options).

Re: [SLG] Jack-o-nine-tails

So I got into the administrative spire in the Serpentine Quarter. I managed to make two of them buy my slave, but I can't convince the president. I'm not even sure why, I'm pretty sure I meet all of his requirements, but he says something about picturing her in a wedding dress and he just doesn't feel it. Do they have some sort of hidden requirements that they don't say outright?

There is a wedding dress in one of the shops.
But I don't think that is the problem, most likely you don't have the full requirements.

Re: [SLG] Jack-o-nine-tails

Here is a small guide to Johny (aka the ultimate sissy boy, the black hole of patheticness).

He is the character that makes the other characters look good, prepare for maximum save scrumming,
once you play him you are going to enjoy all other characters( Except Milord who is gay).

If you start right off and try to buy a slave and train her you are going to be wholly unprepared, so what is the first step? well obviously we are going to patrol the border of fog.
Now you might have played the Blade and got your ass kicked don't worry you are going to get your ass kicked even more(thus the save scrumming).

Go to the armory and buy yourself a bastard sword, then go to the boutique and buy from the menswear an Aketon jacket. As for armor, who has the sparks for that?

Go and sleep until you have enough energy (4-5 stars) and go to the Colosseum.
Here you are going to grind until you get some strength. From here you can also going to get special attacks.
I have gone with roundhouse>battecry>swift blow.
Depending on the weapon this might not be optimal.

The great secret to combat is in alignment(or multipliers).
Every attack can either cause a buff or debuff or deal double damage for attack of the same color.
So what you want is to align an attack to cause the biggest damage of the same color.
A simple example is while you have furry(2x red) while the enemy is unbalanced(2x red) and the enemy is blocking(2x red) if you strike it with a roundhouse special skill(lots of damage) he is toast.
You can kill pretty high level monsters with this.

To defend yourself want to use halve damage buffs and debuffs.
Slow and steady is also good for more manageable opponents.
You generally only want to strike with same attack color as there defense only when you have so power backing you(multipliers).
For defense I usually leave it green since you get a buff at the start of combat with this character(from fetish or vigor?)

After you grind a bit the Colosseum you want to patrol the fog.
This where you are mostly going to save scrum, you generally want small to medium fog tentacles or a vampire,
you might be able to challenge a werewolf if you get the the roundhouse and battlecry but not much. Fight with multiple opponents is off the table until you get some medium armor.

The problem is going to be that you will get both hurt and your slaves that you capture are going to be cheap from the slave market(if you manage any profit thats good after you subtract your wound healing)

When you patrol the fog you can get martial arts pretty quickly to soldier(blue).
Also try to clean your house from time to time.

After barely managing to make ends meet its time to go to the slave guild and try to get a gladiator contract.

But first go to the boutique and get the other menswear, this are you basic skill unlocks by giving you a +1 bonus to whatever you are wearing. Get especially the Livery.

You want an easy to train slave, less pride, less temperament, less sensibility.
If they are not healthy you might want to reload, do not go for feeble for contracts.

Try to train your slave to cleaning and secretary so that you grow your housekeeping(cooking, cleaning, secretary) to blue.
With this you can do assistants/secretaries.

The problem is the slaves are sometimes going to run away and you can't whip/torture/rope so you have to be "amicable" and reload. Find some traits to exploit.
Talking is pretty effective. If they are healthy they can generally take a few bruises and scars can be removed in the technosphere.

After this you are about on the level of the other characters so you can train slaves and fulfill requests,
move out of the slums and finally buy armor( you can get one from the assistant in the slums), buy a Flamberge or try the other weapons.

Re: [SLG] Jack-o-nine-tails

Man, this game has a pretty steep learning curve compared to similar games. I like it though, as the flipside of the coin is that the game has a fair amount of depth to it.

Anyway, I have a question; which place is ideal to live in early on? I feel like the shack is very limiting, but the alternatives I've found seem expensive.
