What's new

ACT [Terrarium] Anthophobia (RJ166403)

Re: Anthophobia

What new monster? I didn't see any besides the one banging the blonde girl in the hallway. Can't interact with him though.

That's the new monster. You can disturb them if you get close to them without lowering yourself. This weird exhibitionist couple will scream for help if they found the protagonist. :3

Oh a stealthy bit, neat.

Is there going to be some method of dealing with it/them later in the game, or is it just a "be sneaky or deal with some more zombies" thing? Because I have noticed that the creature's ballsack is EXACTLY at the level the heroine crouch-kicks at...

Re: Anthophobia

Ok! Why is this game so hard? It's actually so dreadful, as in causing dread. And challenging that it takes all your attention just to stay alive.

I'm stuck right before boss with like 15% health, and only one HP item and some clothes. This isn't Ninja Gaiden, the player character does not move quick enough for me to avoid everything.

I will buy this game when it comes out, you can be sure.

But even 'nukige?' mode is still very hard, the spor and 'menacing' aliens drain so much Stamina and HP in such short order. It's. nuts.

OK: Update, I beat the demo. I'm stubborn, I went downstairs, had a nice cool glass of water, then had at the plant boss again, with only a tiny HP bar left.
I don't game a lot, but when I do.. I go hard core! lol Dark Souls, Ninja Gaiden, Jekly & Hyde.. bring it on.

I did get inspired buy the overgrown infecting plant life in this game, might have to work that into a RPG session.

Re: Anthophobia

Having outsmart hoards of plant-zombies and plant monsters, our fine young hero was finally taken down by a wee flower:

Only by losing can one be a true winner.

Re: Anthophobia

Maybe an unlimited ammo mode would be nice, can't really get pass anything at the sewer cause the lure plant always draws me in.
At least 3 packs of ammo isn't enough... for me.

Re: Anthophobia

To you folks having trouble, here is some advise: You don't need to fight or shoot all of the baddies. If you see an opening to run past them, do so. Save your bullets for those annoying hypno plant enemies or when you're backed up into a corner. This goes especially true in the last hallway before the boss and in the apartment you gotta go into to fetch a key you need to continue, there are two tiny rooms filled with enemies; don't fight them, just grab what you need and run for it.

You don't need to kill them all. killing them don't give you any health pack or bullets since those monsters are naked unless they hid their items in... somewhere?

LOL I REALLY like that idea, but I'll keep that idea for later use. LOL

Thank you for the detailed, core game play tip!

This game only has a one file.
there's no installation beside the folder for the save files
(user -> username -> appdata -> local -> Anthophobia)

Re: Anthophobia

Just sharing an idiot's experience with the game.
When this game's demo came out months ago, I played through the whole stage 1 and boss without using a single frikin bullet.
When I play a game where your stuff like ammo is limited, especially with horror games, I'm as stingy as Scrooge McDuck.
Took me around 4 hours though (till I said "fuck it" and finally shoot down the boss)... I had fun, but maybe not everyone is gonna want to do that with an H-game.

So maybe a simple in-built cheat is fine.
Even if only an Invincibility one would work.
Or maybe...you could just make the Very Easy mode have infinite health.

If you're a backer, you get access to a developer version with HP recovery, stage skip, and stage 2~3 and all the monster after.

You mean the region with infinitely spawning zombies? You should have a molotov from the generator portion of the level, just throw the molotov so it hits the explosive barrel and then run through the level.

Don't save your bullets. If you want save your bullets, I would recommend you try to use them in smart way. this game didn't designed as melee only. If you use the melee only, it might fun, and it might hard core, but you will not be able to defeat the certain boss(later boss).

Re: Anthophobia

Is there any controller support in this game? Most of the difficulty for me comes from breaking my fingers trying to shoot, jump and switch weapons. I have a QWERTZ layout on my keyboard and using that is a pain in most if not all h-games that don't support controllers.

I told the programmer about it. Now he's seriously considering about adding controller. :D

Re: Anthophobia

Reminder to make sure v-sync is disabled by default :~)
also same with controllers. I hate it when games pick up my controller by default and dont allow me to use the keyboard until i reconfigure the controls.. with the controller

Re: Anthophobia

Hey Sour? Will the public demo ever be updated? It would be really cool if you would give non patreons your updated builds after a set time. Or are you planning a new, more content demo for when the game is finished?
