Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

As Mary and Ai head through the corridor to the west, part of the ceiling collapses behind them; no doubt this is Mary's handiwork. It isn't enough to block off their path backwards, but it's quite lucky that they weren't in the room at the time. After a short walk they reach a T-junction; they can either head northwards, or continue along the westward path.

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

You and your magic.." Ai thinks as she looks at her friend.

When they come to a new intersection, Ai crosses her arms and looks over the choices given
"Maybe we'll just continue going west?"

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

"It could have happened to anyone!" Mary tries to weakly defend herself. No doubt it wasn't her magic's handiwork but more her ability to terribly, terribly miss.

Mary nods at Ai's suggestion. "As good as any. Though if we find stairs up I think it'd still be best to examine every room we can."

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

They don't have to go very far before they reach the outer wall of the spire. The path here curves southward, and there is a large door to the north. Every so often they can hear a faint buzzing coming from behind the door.

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

Afer going forward some more, the girls find themselves at a door
"I think I know what's coming, you up for going there? Ai says to Mary, no doubt more wasps hiding behind the door

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

"Urg, I don't like the sound of those. I guess we should take a look anyways, but I'm not really up to fighting a bunch of bees if we can avoid it."

But Mary decided to let Ai choose whether or not they'd go into the room, after all, there might be something in there worth the trouble.

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

!I know how you feel Mary, but... I think we should check the room out for any possible item or such" Ai replies to her friend. Carefully approaching the door, she tries to take a quick peek inside to see if anything is in there

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

Ai manages to open the door carefully enough that whatever is inside doesn't seem agitated by it. Inside she can see four very large bees, seemingly very preoccupied with something on the ground in a corner of the room.

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

"You won't like this Mary, but..." Ai thinks as she sees the bees in the corner. Wanting to know what's in the corner, she tries to get closer without causing them any agitation.

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

Mary carefully sneaks to the door as well, standing close to Ai and peaking her head in to take a look. "Eww...bees..."

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

You just critical succeeded your check, what?

As they walk slowly towards the corner, they can see what the bees are so preoccupied with; the corner has a shallow depression with many larvae in it. This room must be a kind of nursery for the bees. Somehow they manage to avoid making the bees angry.

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

"Let's get out from here, doesn't look like there's anything usefull for us" Ai whispers to Mary, starting to back out from the room, not wanting to bother the bees in their breeding duties

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

Mary nods in respond, not wanting to try and risk alerting the bees to her presence as she heads back with Ai.

Only when they were out of the room and had safely closed the door did she dare speak. "Well, at least we're not missing out on anything."

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

Now back outside the door, they could head southward, or could head back the way they came to go north at the last T-junction.

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

"Whew...okay, let's keep going and explore the rest of this floor." Mary suggests, pointing southward.

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

"Sure, let's" Ai agrees to the mage's suggestion. She takes the lead, being the so-called "tank" of the pair.

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

The southward path soon twists eastward, then northward again, and then west. Eventually, after following the winding path for a while, they came to a small chest nestled into a dead end.

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

"Another one of the mimic children?" Ai says to Mary, pointing towards the chest
"Let's check it out"

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

Mary nods. "Though with our past luck, it might not even be a mimic." she says, following Ai to the chest and opening it up.

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

The two open the chest, and inside is a staff of strange construction, crooked, and with protuberances at odd intervals. Though it looks to be made of wood, it seems more like metal. Either Ai or Mary may be able to use it, but it doesn't seem like the sort of thing that would be useful to Ai.
