Someone was toying with her.

Behind the first door, was a small room, about the size of a closet. And in this room, was a second door.

Ashley grumbled under her breath, but at least it hadn't been filled with slime or something like that.

Though come to think of it, wouldn't you put a room full of slime behind an airlock type system to let it catch people without getting out? Still, that would imply someone was actively trying to trap her, and the trap could just as easily be to put the stairs behind two doors. That made perfect sense.

So she went through the second door.

Ashley, starting to get annoyed, pushes upon yet a third door. An airlock system made some sort of sense, but three doors in a row? Why?

A small room again. Thinking there might be something inside, she started to stick her head inside, before noticing that the entire room seemed to be filled with an almost transparent gel.

She had a feeling it was a slime monster. It moved. She knew it for fact.

Great, another one. But the last one was pretty easy to kill, so I guess I just get to hope it really is me getting better at using my spear...

Ashley stabbed at the thing before it could attack her, using the same overhead thrust that had so easily dispatched the previous one.

Ashley brings the spear down hard, watching the thing shiver as it absorbs the blow, she damaged it, she's sure. But she steps back, trying to get her distance.
4+2 vs 14+3
The slime moves forward, though Ashley is able to back up far enough and deflect the slime away from her. She turns around though, realizing that the first door is closed! And this slime fills up the entire hallway!

Right. So that's why there was a bunch of doors. So that there can be an over-elaborate trap. Frick.

Trying to outsmart the trap, Ashley runs up to the door in the middle of the hallway, trying to secure it shut before the slime can reach it. After all, that was the problem with over-elaborate traps, right? If there had only been two doors she might have been in trouble, but with three she figures she has a chance.

She manages to slam the door shut. She feels relieved as it seemed to work...

But then the slime came through the door, dissolving it entirely...it had slowed down, but there wasn't much time.

Well, of course it wouldn't be that easy. Of course. Ashley tried another stab at it before retreating further down the hallway, hoping she could defeat it before it filled the room. And her.

A solid strike! Her reach giving her a good advantage, the slime looked weak, another solid strike and she'd be free!

A piece of goop from the slime knocks itself off and shoots at Ashley, but she manages to knock it away.

Actually doing damage to the slime. Good. Watching it slowly fill the hallway... not so good. Endeavoring to fix the situation was a simple matter of attacking again. So she did.

Ashley thrusts into the slime again, the slime truly absorbing the blow this time, as it marches forward.
16+2 vs 11+3
The slime reaches forward with part of it's body, bashing Ashley in the chest before she can react, she lets out a gasp as she starts to feel aroused by the thought of the slime enveloping her.

Ashley gasps at the still-remarkable effect that simply getting get on the chest has in here, nearly stunning her for a moment. But her failed attack still cost her time and it seems to her that the thing will simply fill the entire hallway before it actually manages to defeat her. What happens then is unclear, but somehow she doubts it will be pleasant. To avoid finding out, she attacks again, hoping that the previous absorption was just a fluke...

It seems it was, as Ashley manages a strike on the creature, it fades into liquid and flows to the ground, almost leaving an inch of liquid left in the rooms.

But it's dead, at least.

That was a little too close for comfort. No, wait, it wasn't. The first slime was too close for comfort. This one just groped me a bit, and I can live with that.

Slime vanquished, Ashley went back to the room it came from to see if there was anything useful.

Looking through the rooms, Ashley manages to find a small book that seems in decent shape. "Ambushed and how not to be it" The title says. Inside is some good tips for avoid ambushes and be sneaker.

(Trains gained: Polearm Expertise 2 (Now changed to +2 attack/+3 defense) Spotter 1 | +1 to not finding enemies before they ambush you, reduces monster encounter rate)

Hrmph. 'Damn silly traps and how not to fall for them' might be more appropriate, but I guess I'll take what I can get.

Ashley perused the book, and walked out of the room, stopping when reached the chapter entitled "don't read books on how to avoid ambush while exploring unknown and potentially hostile terrain". It was a remarkably short chapter, but she was able to put it to immediate use.

Ashley wanders around for a while, putting her new skills to good use when she manages to avoid the telltale signs of a rope demon. She finds another way, wandering through the Labyrinth before coming upon a somewhat eventually expected scene.

There's a naked girl sleeping on the ground, leaking massive amounts of cum. Ashley couldn't see what did it, but she knew what happened to the poor girl.

Ashley looks around carefully, not wanting to end up in a similar position. She is also careful not to ignore the girl herself in the search for a foe, as she could potentially be hostile, or even something else in disguise.

Once she has verified that she can't see anything dangerous, she approaches the girl to see if she can be awoken.
