Yeah, open source or homebrew engine are basically the only ways for devs to be safe from this shit, and everyone knows it now. Unreal may benefit from the exodus from Unity but with the trust broken once everyone will be waiting for Unreal to try something shady next. Epic Games will have an uphill fight to prove they are more trustworthy than their competitor... and their reputation isn't perfect to begin with. It sucks for devs mid-project, but for newcomers GODOT is now a no-brainer.
