Re: Assassin! (OAMP)

Lexwyn crept away from the crippled demon, heading back to the edge of town silently. She found her way into a small shop that sold food, which was now all rotting. The smell wasn't pleasant, but it was a good place to hide, as the smell of rotting meat and moldy bread would hide her own, and the place was dark inside, with few windows to let in light, but that allowed the assassin to view the street outside with ease. After a couple of hours, she heard voices off in the distance, which paused, before Lexwyn heard a smashing sound, coming from near the place where she'd left the succubus, followed by more voices, coming closer. Waiting a few more moments, several individuals came into her view, including three women in tattered green robes that left nothing to the imagination, a literal goat-man carrying a large bloody hammer, and a massive nude manlike creature with yellowish skin. It was the goat-man that was speaking; "Now, we can go back to our groves, and live in peace. Perhaps this time, the demons will not return to bother our world again, though such seems a foolish hope. Still, Matthias has never lied to us before. Perhaps the Devourer really is dead and gone."

The strange quintet was moving on, past the shop in which she hid. If she didn't move, they would pass by her, never noticing her, but she wouldn't get any more information that way.

Re: Assassin! (OAMP)

Despite her training and mentality, Lexwyn's mind had started to wander before the new arrivals came into view. She froze stiff and listened intently. Quite the interesting sight, and strange information. She didn't know what half of it meant, and it actually caused more questions then answers. After they moved on, the assassin was half tempted to just go back into the woods, but seeing as they didn't appear to know she was there at all, Lexwyn would press her luck.

Before shadowing the group, the redhead would take a quick peek back to where the woman she attacked had been on the ground, just to see if anything had changed or if the people that discovered her had did anything. Then, sticking to the shadows, Lexwyn would stay just within earshot of the group, hopefully sticking to the outside of town and not having to go deeper in.

Re: Assassin! (OAMP)

Peeking at the woman she had left, Lexwyn found that her head had been crushed, obviously by something extremely large and powerful. The rest of her body lay motionless in the street, in a pool of dark blood. Apparently, the group had finished off the wounded demoness. So, Lexwyn began to follow them, as they left the village and head out onto the road.

She stuck to the woods, keeping silent and hidden, and not one of the group even looked back. Along the way, they talked and joked like old ocmrades, saying nothing in particular of interest. Most of it was about demons, though when they mentioned humans, they didn't seem to see them in a much kinder light. Eventually, they turned and headed into the woods, still sticking together, but it was on the opposite side from where she lurked. If she wanted to continue following the strangers, she would have to cross the road and head into the forest proper once more, where she'd been attacked by the tentacled plant creature before.

Not seeing any other good leads, and planning on returning to the forest eventually anyway, Lexwyn would dart across and into the brush behind them. Not right away of course, not only giving them enough space, but taking a close look around to survey if anyone else might be looking. She was mildly worried about what had happened before, but even freaky plants such as that no doubt were anchored to one spot. She'd get her knife ready, just in case, and pushed the thought to the back of her mind.

Re: Assassin! (OAMP)

Following the group into the woods, Lexwyn was able to keep track of them via their voices, which didn't cease despite how far in they were going. She lost sight of them several times as she crept silently through the brush, but always caught up to them shortly after. The assassin shadowed the group for close to an hour, nothing of interest happening, and she was beginning to wonder whether it might not be a good idea to turn back, when she tripped and fell forward onto the path the group had been on. She lands silently, but when she looks down, she sees that both of her legs are covered in vines!

Before she has the opportunity to struggle, the vines wrap around Lexwyn almost totally, including a vine that wraps around her mouth, preventing her from making any noise. She is hauled upright once she is totally covered in vines, her arms held helplessly against her body and her legs held tight against one another, so that she cannot move. Memories of her earlier encounters in the woods flit through her mind, and she is about to panic when the goat-man appears on the path before her, holding his huge hammer in his hands. "Why are you following us human? Do you not know that it is folly to trail Fey into the wood? Know that it is only because of the demons blood on your hands that you are spared an eternity of wandering the twisted paths. Now, let her speak."

Lexwyn then noticed the three women from the group had quietly surrounded her, one on each side with the third directly behind her. The vine in her mouth pulled itself free and settled around her throat, and she was free to reply. The large one was nowhere in sight, but she figured he couldn't be far away. Her dagger was still clenched in her hand, but bound as she was, it didn't seem like it would be of use against the ones she'd been following, at least not before the goat-man bashed her head in with that hammer.

Re: Assassin! (OAMP)

Lexwyn had just about started attempting to cut free, despite how futile it might have been, but something about how the group didn't seem very hostile reassured her. Sure, they were trying to scare her, but they seemed like people she could at least talk her way out of fighting. The vines obeyed them, which was weird, and almost disturbing, but it wasn't something she could be distracted by right now.

Thinking quickly, Lexwyn decided upon how she should reply. She couldn't give away much, that was nearly always foolish, and against her nature to boot. Not like there was anything interesting she had to tell the group anyway, even if she wanted to. Also, judging from the previous conversations she overheard, as well as this one, perhaps the goat-man would respect a strong personallity. "Because I can, and because I have nothing better to do." She made sure to look him right in the eye, putting on a face mostly devoid of emotion, perhaps save slight anger and determination.

Re: Assassin! (OAMP)

The goat-man didn't seem impressed by her attitude, though he was certainly hard to read given his non-human appearance. He replied, his voice grave; "Then you have made a grave error in judgment. We dislike when your kind trespass upon our lands. You are in luck, for we are in high spirits coming back from victory, so today you will be granted mercy, so long as you harass us no further. Be warned that no such boon will be granted in the future."

Then, he signaled for to the woman, and the vines holding Lexwyn loosened enough for her to cut herself free, though it would take a few moments of work. The goat-man turned to leave movement from around her indicating to Lexwyn that the women were moving to follow.

Re: Assassin! (OAMP)

Lexwyn scowled, but looked away to start getting to work. She supposed she should just head her own way, but there wasn't much in the way of places for her to go still. She had come here, after all, to get away from the world at large. She decided once free, she'd take a path at a right angle to the way the group had gone, relaxing slightly as to not get tunnel vision again. There still might be danger about, and she didn't want to get caught yet again. Hopefully she could get a good enough feel for the area to figure out how to get by safely soon, she was pretty tired and didn't want to have to deal with anything else.

Re: Assassin! (OAMP)

Turning away from the path the Fey had taken, Lexwyn proceeds deeper into the woods. She travels for hours, until night begins to fall, having seen nothing more threatening than a squirrel for the rest of the day. She was seemingly lost in the woods, the large forest having resisted all of her attempts to navigate her way out of it. Now, as night fell, she must decide what to do. Even though she hadn't encountered any monsters, a forest at night was still quite dangerous.

Re: Assassin! (OAMP)

The assassin idely kicked the ground, a bit unhappy at having not stopped earlier, but she wasn't exactly thinking straight. Still, it was best to get on with making a shelter, so she'd look for a convienent feature to make a makeshift shelter, though contemplated if it might be better to sleep up in the branches tonight. Priority would be placed on a large tree that could hold her, she wasn't likely to stir and fall out, but one with wide branches and other such helpful features would be prefered, though Lexwyn wasn't picky.

Re: Assassin! (OAMP)

Lexwyn quickly found a tall red oak tree, it being the largest in the forest, which had branches wide enough for her to lay on without any pieces hanging out. The loest branches are over twenty feet high, but a nearby tree allows the assassin to get onto one of the thick branches of the oak without much trouble. She climbs a little higher, before finding herself a perfect branch for her to lay on. Up in the limbs of the tree, Lexwyn is free to prepare herself for sleep however she chooses, so long as she's careful not to fall off. The sun dips below the horizon, and the fact that it's a new moon means that there will be little light tonight.

(Honestly, I'm not sure how to bring you a game over at this point. Since you're bringing Lexwyn back for DG2, would you mind if I just said you wandered around for the intervening amount of time, trying to avoid Badarian authorities?)
