Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Shala looked to the rogue before tossing her more appropriate adventure garb. "Not dressed like a whore." Talking a with a few men she made it clear that this was a rescue mission, not dawdle till its time to leave. "The Captn says I cannot go however our local hero can, and I know she can keep you in line." Looking over the crew she noticed Soda was one of the rescue party as well as five others. So she had six men to find twelve... errr well eleven now. As the boat was lowered away Rikke could tell that the men she was with were ill at ease and despite her best effort the mood failed to improve by the time the boat hit sand once more. Disembarking the would be rescuers where faced with a choice once more.

"Excuse me?!" Rikke gumpily answered in a cute fashion, before she was thrown some actual gear. Still while the dancers outfit was certainly pretty, it did have a habbit of clipping almost every branch the rogue rushed past.

Slipping into a more appropriate gear... atleast as appropriate as the rogue allowed it to be, soon enough she'd be sent off with the volunteers. Though this was the first time she'd hear actual numbers, twelve people?! No wonder it hit Shala so hard... "You can count on us!" the heroine beamed an encouraging smile as she was the last one on the boat as they'd sail off in silence.

"Come on guys. Curse or no curse, we'll find them. It's a jungle, people get lost." Rikke tried to up the mens spirits "Maybe we can find some booze or grog for their return party while we're at it." she'd beam a grin as soon enough they'd hit the shore.

"Okay so... the manor is to the north of the orchard. Lets spread out a good five feet from one another and get to looking through this place." Rikke looked to Soda "We'll be heading towards the city first. If they needed shelter for the night, thats the best place to do so."

"Remember, if you see anything move or hear any er... whispers or something creepy instantly shoutout." Their goal was clear as well as their direction, spacing out soon enough the group began their search calling out different names, while Rikke instead used a simple "Hello!" or "Anyone?!"

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Starting out with the small group Rikke arranged them in a close line and headed for the city via the jungle. Thankfully the instruction where clear and the voices of the men echoed out distinctly. As the party moved forward no calls returned to them and from a quick head count all the search party was still present. Eventually however they came upon the ruins again their moss covered stones seemingly more ominous than the previous day. Taking a slight break her little rescue party drank some of the fresh water and rested talking lightly among themselves. Soda meanwhile moved from the various ruins checking out ones that would allow entry but seemingly finding nothing.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke took a breather in ruins, but even their wonder seems to have been tarnished by the Villas presence. Somehow after what the rogue had seen and knowing there were atleast eleven more sailors missing... the wonderous ruins had a light tint of dread about them.

Still it was hardly enough to ruin the view, especially with the sun beaming down on the group and the lush flora all around. Smiling Rikke too had a few drinks of the fresh water, the light drops of the pure water flicking across her skin giving the girl a sublte and quite alluring gleam. The sensual allure all the more accentuated by the girls fair cut-out cleavage in her outfit.

Either way, Rikke would wipe the water off her mouth and look to the sailors pause at the sight "What?" she'd smile kindly to them, before approaching "Lets head deeper in." Rikke gave the command, afterall even she herself did not see what lied deeper inside the ruined city.

Infact, they had to go in deeper and hope... since if there really was noone here. The only other location the men could be found - was the haunted Villa!

Choosing to move deeper in, they encountered their first obstetrical. The remainder of the broken aqueduct that blocked further access into the city. Still with time and effort Rikke and the search party made it over. It seemed the effort was well worth it as one of the men called out pointing to a discarded cloth. "That Orlyn's he uses them to polish those spectacles he dose." It was welcome new its seemed they where on the right track. Surveying the area once everyone was clear Rikke saw that the deeper part of the ruin was in far worst shape than the one she had been in. Perhaps the collapsing aqueduct had spared it some damage from what ever happened. Chances where she would never find out. Still it seemed three paths opened before her. One was a creek that formed formed in a broken road leading back out into the jungle while another was a semi clear street that seemed to lead further in. The third looked to be a game trail from the animals of the area leading to this pool left over from the aqueduct.

Rikke heard one of the sailors call out and rush to inspect the finding with a smile "So... they might've passed through here!" she'd grin widely, the girls energy and the finding seemingly spurring doubling the groups efforts as there was indeed hope that the men were not cursed!

However once the rogue made it over the wreckage, seemed the divine view was quickly shifted to a much more crumbled and ruined landscape. Something had indeed gone down here, though whether a natural disaster, a war or something else entirely... Rikke could only guess.

There was no reason to head to the creek quite yet, it was unlikely the sailors would build shelter with the fair amount of roofing the ruins provided "Lets continue down this road." she'd point to the clear path still along the ruins.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Choosing the to follow the semi clear street Rikke saw that every building they passed had either collapsed entirely into rubble or had to many vines blocking entry to make them habital. Still they pressed on, occasionally having to divert their course due to rubble that was to much to climb over. After about an hour of this they came upon a relatively untouched plaza full of over growth. At the end of which was a large intact structure vaguely pyramid shaped. A few of the men moved in that direction while the rest stayed with Rikke an odd chill seemingly filling the air and stealing the words of the party.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Was it getting late? Rikke rubbed her shoulders and looked up to the clear blue sky... but then where was the chill coming from? "Doesn't look like they found any housing here." the rogue spoke up to the few around her "And is it chilly to anyone else?" heck the rogue had wandered the ruins with little more than a bra and some shorts-shorts!

Though it was then she'd consider the option, that the chill was not quite natural at all! "Hey?... where's--" the girl noted the few going to the piramid "I don't like this chill. Lets go join up and check that place, shouldn't stay here longer than we need." she'd give the few a smile and lead them to join up with those wandering off, as they all headed towards the strange structure.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

The rest of the men nodded in agreement as they tried to catch up with the others. Moving forward at a good pace with Soda in the lead Rikke noticed that ahead of Soda there was no ground. Reaching she pulled the man back shouting for the others to stop. Two of the men ahead of her stopped and looked up while the third seemed to swat at some bugs not paying attention and slipped into the hole. He screamed as he fell which was quickly cut off but a wet noise. Moving up Rikke saw the poor man impaled on fresh cut bamboo spears. Down in the plaza the chill only got deeper as a strange mist seemed to creep in on them. All around her the men panicked slightly but still held their ground. Keeping her eyes moving Rikke noticed one section of the ground that seemed to be solid.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke too was almost mesmerized by the nearing piramid and the overgrown plaza, but something at the back of the girls mind ticked at just the right time! "STOP!" though even if the rogue tried, sometimes she chouldn't save others from themselves as the first of her tiny escort fell!

"Guys! Calm down! Focus! Or you'll all fall in there!" Rikke sharply and commanding called out to them, looking to them briefly... even if the mist was creeping up panic would get them all killed "Follow me and do not stray." thankfully the rogue had a clear view of the path, though with the mist creeping she too knew to hurry!

Still with that Rikke would take the lead and attempt to lead the men out if need be. The view of the unfortunate sailor toppling in still fresh in her mind she couldn't help but note - The bamboos were recently cut! Meaning the island was not as uninhabbited as it first appeared. Someone had set the trap up and quite recently.

With a little effort the men quickly made it past the bamboo trap and into the plaza proper. Some had even drawn weapons as the cool mist made a warm day into a chilled one. Thankfully nothing more seemed to happen as they moved deeper in the over grown plaza still leaving some paved works to guide the small group. By now all of them followed Rikke's orders with out hesitation. Soon enough they came across a makeshift camp. Bamboo polls sat to one side some being mid cut. A saber sat buried into a hunk of the wood and small fire pit rested its coals long dead.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke sighed with relief as they had finally escaped the trapped area "We'll need to head and retrieve his body later." she'd utterly grimly, but it had to be done "But for now focus, our trapper might be near." as indeed right before them were clear hints of the culprits camp.

Unfortunately however it seemed to be long since abbandoned "Look around the camp, maybe there's more hints at your friends." Rikke ordered as she herself looked back and turned to the piramid. It was indeed the only structure that seemed to have survived, if there was another civilization here its people would be found there.

"Everyone, setup camp around here for a while. I'll scout ahead." Rikke looked to the group and gave them a firm nod, afterall if there were enemies or traps ahead Rikke would be far more suited to face them alone, rather than protect the sailors as well.

"Stick together and if you can set up camp out of this stupid mist. I'll come for following the campfires flame." the heroine continued "And be careful. If there was one trap, there might be more."

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke got the group together while Soda checked out the saber. "This is Alexa,, errr Alex's Saber. Why would he set up traps." Setting the weapon down Soda sat down and started a fire. "Maybe they where attacked. We should set some watches while you scout."

Setting that up Rikke moved forward on her own. quickly leaving her rescue party behind at the abandoned camp. It didn't take long for her to stumble upon another strange sight. Out of the Mists human statues stood. They where out of place clearly not been set here on purpose and had no stone dias to sit upon. What was worse was that three of them where dressed like pirates. The fourth seemed to be a snake woman statue but it was all crumbled and broken.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke paused at the news and added one final warning, before she'd scout ahead "There is a place here that possesses whoever enter. If you see your friends, don't hurt them, but capture them akin to enemies." she'd give them a serious look "I'm serious, I've seen what this island curse can do. Friendly face or not, capture them and keep yourself safe."

Whether the sailors paid heed to the heroines warning was up to them, as she could hardly force caution upon them. Still, hopefully they'd remain safe... while Rikke herself venture onwards deeper into the mists.

It would not be long, before she'd be greeted by a most peculiar scene... statues seemingly running and trapped off their pedestials litered some ways ahead. Rikke would approach one of them and look the over carefully, noting what the man was doing... as well as what he was wearing.

Petrification. There was little doubt about it, which meant the remaining statue was... that of the mythical creature medusa? Rikke wouldn't near it, nor even look at it, if only from knowing the folk tales. Such creatures had the ability to turn to stone any who gaze upon them... and the rogue found herself surrounded by victims of that very same curse. Drawing her blade the girl kept her ears sharp as she'd approach the remnants of the strange statue... though perhaps this was not a trap, but a remnant of a battle against the beast.

Closing the distance Rikke found it to indeed be a snake bodied woman though her head had been smashed if the other large bricks and stone near where it should be indicated. Looking back at the other statues it seemed one had been caught of guard his surprise evident, the other tried to run while the third tried to fight. With these three and the dog man Rikke counted 8 potential survivors unless Medusa was a transformed crew member. Either way that left at least seven survivors.

Still she wasn't far from the makeshift camp and still had time to press on. Besides telling the boys about petrified friends might not be so good. Moving further in the mist seemed to part a bit and the sun shown for just a moment for Rikke to spot sparkling shards near a tree. She could also see however a clear direct path to the pyramid.

Indeed the rogue wasn't set to head back quite yet, as she'd continue past the now-far-clearer battle scene. Seemed the poor lads encountered a medusa-like creature, yet clearly they were victorious... albeit after some losses. Still she couldn't help, but wonder how they defeated the beast. A mirror? A reflection from a blade.... perhaps something else entirely.

Either way, though it was costly it was clear atleast some of the sailors had been here and made in deeper forward. Still as she moved towards the piramid, she'd note something odd near one of the trees, though from a distance it was hard to make out.

The piramid would go nowhere, but the strange magical sight could certainly disappear! Pausing her momentum towards the structure, the rogue would take a detour to inspect the stange flecks she had seen.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Moving quickly to the flecks Rikke soon found them attached to a frame for glasses. What remained of them where quite reflective almost mirror like. Still why where they here. Nearby Rikke saw some trampled vegetation that had yet to recover. Examining it seemed to indicate that who ever was here left but it wasn't big enough for the whole party to have gone.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

As she'd near the source revealed to be not magical at all, but instead - just a pair of glasses? Rikke blinked as she'd pick them up and look the item over, whoever wore these certainly kept them pristine!

Though it was then, the girl would quickly recall that the sailors had mentioned one of the missing group members having such glasses! Ones as pristine and brisk as the sailors seemed to regail them as! The girls ears seeming perked up as a smile finally adorned her face... she had found a fresh trail towards the others!

Smiling widely Rikke, stashed the glasses aside and quickly followed the route along the vegetation! Not even noting how as the girl dashed, subtle reflection of her enviroments was all too clear in the life-saving glasses lense.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Following the trail lead Rikke away from the pyramid in a hape hazard path that curved and turned back on its self many times. Who ever made this was lost probably due to the mist. Still for Rikke the noon had banished the mist mostly for now and she could read the trail. Eventually the trail lead to a sculpture park. The statues of long dead prominent citizens adorned their pedestals but something was off. At the back of her mind Rikke heard the whispers, they where light and not as strong but something made the hair on her neck stand on edge. Out of the corner of her eye she caught movement. Something was here but was it dangerous.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Following the path, Rikke quickly noted that she'd run past yet another trail of bent flora... that seemed to connect to the girls own path! Clearly someone had been lost for a while, but as she quickly tried to catch up to her lost 'guide'. It seemed to become clearer and clearer that this was not a path taken by a group, instead it was no doubt but a single or a few of the sailors at best.

Still finding even one survivor Rikke could learn more about just what the heck happened once they landed! The smile on the girls face not dimming she'd continue onwards up to until the tracks would lead her to what appeared a statue park?

Rikke blinked and slowed her chase as she'd smile, walking along the strange park. Statues of unknown citizens, warriors, workmen or craftsmen stood all around her, some bearing more overgrowth than others though either way creating a quite relaxing and silent atmosphere "Wow..." the girl smiled to herself, though as she'd utter the words... she'd quickly note the reemergence of the whispers!

While more silent, they were certainly here... and worse yet, Rikke even spotted movement at the very edge of her vision! Not wasting any time the girl quickly drew her blade and called out to the mysterious force "Come on out!"
