Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Lucky for Rikke no longshoremen where at the moment present to hinder her plan and she easily gathered her supplies. Of course stuffing herself in a barrel was Risky in its own way. It could simply be they could leave her behind. Either way with her plan in motion she only had to wait.

After what seemed to be an hour she felt the barrel shift as a man tipped it over and rolled up and over. "Oi what in the hells is in this. Damn me aching back. You yunguns put this down below." A moment later Rikke felt the barrel roll again in a dizzying sensation as she was quick brought on deck and lowered down into the hold. Once below she waited a moment and began to look about threw her cover. It seems that the ship was just now loading supplies.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke did position herself front and forward before the crates, surely she'd be picked up! The girl waited and waited... and waited... up to until finally someone came! Smiling inside the rogue felt her barrel hoisted up with a light curse... one that made the girl frown a little... she was light! It was the barrel itself surely.

Unfortunately though it seemed she'd not exactly be carried. Suddenly Rikke felt the barrel turned sideways... 'Uh-oh...' before it was kicked forward spurring a dizzying spin!! Only to be stopped by another shiphands foot! The sheer act almost making the girl spring right out!

Still dizzy Rikke would shortly after feel the barrel turned and thankfully carried downstairs... well she was in! Sheepishly opening the lid, the girl wobbled briefly before stepping out almost falling down right then and there!... why did she have to pick barrel?!

Either way, now that she was in... it was time to head upstairs and find that treasury!

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Taking a moment to gather herself Rikke soon moved to the shadows mostly out of practice. Getting a good look around and letting her eyes adjust to the dark. It was strange usually she would have no trouble but now even she could only make out a few things in the dim light. In the distance she heard a light meow as the shadow of cat crossed some light source. After a moment or two Rikke could see fairly well and could make out the stair she was brought down from as well another leading up and away on the other side of the hold.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Heading straight up she might run into the crew hauling the goods, instead the rogue would keep below deck and try to go around them. Perhaps she'd find what she saught down here to boot!

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Keeping to the lower part of the ship Rikke soon found that no treasure sat in piles for her to just spot. Not even a locked chest adored the floor. She did soon find the room where the crew slept. Their hammocks resting in the air as well as the smell of sweat and dirt. No doubt she would not find anything here. Heading back down she ran into a small black and white cat who meowed at her loudly. Passing the ships rodent hunter by quickly Rikke moved on to the good storage. Thankfully this place seemed already stocked up leaving Rikke free to explore it as she would.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

She was on limited time. She had to find the--- the captains quarters! Ofcourse! Such ships don't have treasuries, but the captain always kept a fair bit of booty and most prized items in their personal quarters.

Not to mention Rikke knew around where she could find them - upper part of the ship at the back, just like every other ship. She'd just need to get there! With her plan far more clear, the rogue would quickly move to make her path there first.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Making her way threw the underbelly of the ship Rikke soon found a set of stairs that led up. Sunlight filtered down as the noises on deck continued. It seemed that most of the loading had been done and she was quickly running out of time. She quickly surmised that the captains quarters would only be accessible from deck. Ascending the stairs she found the sentries had switched out to some different members of the crew, some obviously drunk. That only made it easier as she quickly slipped up on deck and found the captains door. Surprisingly it wasn't locked and she quickly slipped inside.

The captains room was by far the largest most luxurious room in the whole ship. At the back near some windows sat the queen sized bed full of silken sheets. In one corner sat a wash basin and an enchanted glass jug. Normally Rikke wouldn't have known such but it just seemed to call out to her that it was magic. across from that sat a smaller bed and a few chests locked tight.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke followed up the creaky stairs, keeping her steps absolutely as light as a feather. The girls eyes wide and sharp, her ears perked and on-guard... it did indeed seem quite strange that her eyes never adjusted to the low-visibility from before. Perhaps her night-eyes weren't quite awake yet? Heck Rikke still didn't know the story how she got here and what was going on with her hair as well!

Either way, those questions would have to wait... as she'd have to traverse the deck during mid-day! Biting her lower lip at the rough task ahead, the girl carefully opened the door leading to the deck and peeked outside...

Lady Luck was certainly with the pirate thief! Most of the supplies seemed to have already been moved, while the current guard shifts were changed out with those that went on-land... and apparently really indulged in their 'free drinks' .

"He~" Rikke smiled happily to herself and stepped outside, carefully sneaking onwards across the deck more... more... when suddenly with a light stump almost out of nowhere one of the pirates hit the floor right infront of the girl from the side!!! Caught out in open Rikke tensed and gasped for air, but remained absolutely frozen and silent...

The pirate seemed to moan and very subtly open his seemingly swollen from hangover eyes and looked up to the girl... only to collapse face forward on the deck and start snoring.

Rikke blinked as her eyes darted to one side, then to another, before she'd sigh with relief... the rest of the walk forward was free of unfortunate events and soon enough she'd arrive to the Captains cabin!

Just as she suspected - the captains quarters were alight with luxury! Rikke grinned catily to herself and closed the door behind her. Well then... time to pick and choose! Heck the girl even had a window for her escape!

Still before she did anything, first she'd look for a way to lock or light block the door. The Captain could return at any moment afterall! The girl hardly wanted to be disturbed.

Now then... it was time to find some pirate booty to plunder! Giggling to herself with mischief the girl would begin her search. She'd look for any decorative or otherwise useable blades first, as the locked chests certainly drew her eye... almost as much as the relatively inconspicious glass jug. Rikke wasn't sure what stood out about it, but she definedly felt a certainly pull towards it. Still... what worth could a glass jug be? She'd pick it up later... maybe.

First and foremost she'd need a blade or other means to open the treasure chests!

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke frowned slightly as she eyed the door to the captains cabin. It indeed did have a lock but it appeared to only be usable by a key which the captain no doubt had on his person. Which also brought up another issue. If the captain was not worried about locking his door as he left then all the valuables must be secured in the chests, but then again he was apparently injured as she recalled. As for other concern she had no shortage of blades about though none of the quality she had once possessed. Still a strong and sturdy blade would be do. In this regard she had several options. Several cutlasses sat in scabbards on a weapon rack. The curved blade being a favorite of pirates for many years. There were also a few more traditional blades of the long and short variety as well as a surplus of daggers. Of one of the short blades Rikke clearly saw the insignia of the Worgs upon its scabbard. No doubt this blade was a trophy.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

There was always a saying about assumptions... Rikke would pick up the Warg short blade and attach it to her leggings, before turning to the swords. The girl hardly ever understood what was the use of curved blades - useless for thrusts or precision attacks! Instead Rikke would pick out a sturdy and elegant looking straight blade, similar to Beauty.

With her armaments done, the rogue was just about done... all that was left was the matter of the mysterious locked chests and the strange bottle. Starting with the chests Rikke wouldn't chip her new blades, but instead use any other to get the lock open.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Roll for captain appearance starts at 1 and will increase every round
Captain returns on a 1
Rikke rolls 3 she is safe

Heading to the chest Rikke quickly got to work. The first one wasn't even locked much to the rogues enjoyment but then again it seemed to be only cloths. Well made cloths but most mannish in design. Turning to next chest she began to work furiously. No doubt she had little time.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Who locks up their clothes? Rikke picked out a few and looked over them, throwing them aside as she'd search to the very bottom of the chest making a mess. Strangely enough seemed the Captain was quite the 'Prince' with his clothing.

Sigh lightly the girl licked her lips and placed her leg on the next chest, before using one of the clearly adornment blades to open the next chest! She indeed hardly knew when the captain would return... but before that happened she had to find some loot! The blades were a start, but she owed the Spring goddess some coin!

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Captain appears on a 1-2
Rikke rolls 2 the captain is on deck

Working hard Rikke quickly popped the last lock on the chest just as she heard a grunt from outside the door. "Oi no sleeping on duty ya heathen. What if some buxom you thief broke into my cabin to steal my belongings." Rikke's heart skipped a beat. The drunk from the before began to scramble to his feet. "Sorry captn Red Dog I..." There was a loud laugh. This was quickly followed by the same feminine voice from before at the barber. "Despite the very specific fantasy I'm sure the captains quarters are safe and secure. Back to your duties." There was a mumbled affirmation but rikke didn't focus to much on it as she was already heading for the window.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Crap! He was right there!... but the chest was unlocked! Rikke turned to the window which served as her escape, before back to the chest. She had to make a choice!..

She had to... hide! Instead of attempting to escape through the window the girl would shove it open, as she dashed to slip out of view. No doubt the captain would assume his thief escaped... when Rikke was right there still! She came here for treasure, she sure as heck wasn't leaving without a penny!

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Throwing the window open Rikke moved to dash under the bed only to hit solid frame. Eyes widening she quickly dashed behind a changing curtain. Just then the door opened quickly followed by a "Gods damn it." Heavy foot falls echoed out as they entered the room drawing ever closer to Rikke. "Shala send a party out into the town ask about any strangers. I would like to know who broke into my room and stole one of my trophies and messed up my perfect cloths." In her not so subtle or good hiding spot Rikke sweated as once more the foot falls moved closer. Why had she tried to hid under the bed it would have of course been mated to the floor so it didn't slip in rough seas. Cursing her own luck Rikke soon felt a presence nearby. Looking to her right she saw the captain staring at his bed right next to her. He was surprisingly handsome with a well trimmed black beard. Of course his clothes seemed to be of high quality with the exception of his coat which was now adored with a bullet hole. Slipping off the ruined Jacket the man tossed it to his left as he turned to his right. The coat landed on Rikke smelling of the sea and the swat of men as well as blood. She waited a moment before the foot steps echoed out and away with a door being closed behind her.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Choosing her plan of action the first place to hide was the bed! With the thieves wind at her back the girl rushed past the nearby window, a single hand shoving it open, before she'd get into a slide right beneath-- as she sped towards the bed, the girl felt a cold drop of sweat roll down her face - the bed was one huge block! There was nothing to slide beneath! "Ooomph..." she'd crash and groan lightly sitting nearby "Ow..." though her unfortunate resolution would have to be shunned as she'd suddenly hear the door knob turn!!!

As the door opened the subtle wind moved the curtains allowing the captain take in the sheer mess Rikke made... as behind one of those curtains stood the girl herself! Her eyes wide and heart beating... A curtain?! It was the only closest place to dash into, but with it's small nature she'd be outed for sure! Still... the girl would have to hold her breath and hope for the best!

The captain stepped closer, one heavy footstep after the other as Rikke already prepared her cutest and most innocent smile... only for the man to sigh deeply? Looking from behind the barely covering curtain she'd get a good look of the captain as he'd face his bed, a breeze of wind lifting the curtains to reveal Rikke in full standing right there behind him!

Rushing quickly, the girl pulled the curtain as silently and as panickly quickly as she could, before angling herself to hide a bit more directly from his view! Only for another breeze from outside to blow the curtains away from the girl just as the captain seemed to turn?!!

With a plomp though it seemed the man only carelessly threw his coat at her...? or well to his side. Hidden beneath the coat, the rogues eye peered through the bullet hole as she'd remain froze in place... up to the captain actually stomping across his quarters and heading out? With a loud creak of the door, the incredibly lucky rogue was left with a coat ontop of her... and an expression of utter disbelief. It worked?

Rikke just barely resisted the urge to cheer out loudly as she removed the coat, before looking around... a subtle fist bump and a beaming grin would have to do for celebration! Still if the pirates were searching for a thief, Rikke had to make this quick. Now... where was that chest!

Rikke quickly moved back to the chest and flung it open. Inside the well made chest where books with gold etched covers as well as what Rikke could only guess as bags of coin or jewels. Maps and charts lay about the chest as well. While not the biggest haul she had seen, this appeared to be the captains personal stash. No doubt this was just a supply run given the loading from outside.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

'Yes!' the risk paid off! Rikke picked up a few small bags of coin and jewels and gave them a light hug! It wasn't the largest haul, but it was already more than she could comfortably carry! With a sly smile, Rikke would secure a couple of pouches of coin, but would only take a few more brilliant and pretty looking jewels. As much as she'd love to dash off with a good stash of luxury, jewels always proved to be difficult to handle.

Making sure her 'liberated goods' were secure Rikke would turn back to the chest and to the very elaborate books. If only out of sheer curiousity, the girl would pick up one of the golden-encrusted books and look it over, even flipping it open to skim over what such elegant books held inside.

If the contents proved inconsequential, Rikke would put the books away and close both of the chests with a smile. Looked like the grand theft was a success! Now it was time to make the equally as grand escape!

The deck would likely still have some of the pirates, perhaps even the captain himself! Which meant the best escape route... Rikke turned to the open window and smiled, was right here! The girl would approach the window and sit on it's edge looking over a potential route for her escape, before giving the cabin one last look over... actually she still needed one more item from here.

Rikke did not want the town to feel the ire from her thef-... goods liberation, which meant she needed to draw the pirates directly to her. While she could just reveal herself on-board or make herself known, marking herself on the enemy boat would make her escape a bit too spicy! Instead the rogue could use one of the Captains revered items to draw them to her... on shore!

Grabbing the glass jug that so drew her attention when she first came here and one of the gold-encrusted curved blades, Rikke would make her escape and attempt to return back to town! She did have a party waiting for her there... a search party. Jug stored away and blade attached to her back by simple cloth, she'd jump into the azure waters and carefully make her way back to shore.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

There where three books. One was plain but well made and seemed to be the captains log. The second was locked almost like a personal diary. Rikke could probably force it open if she wanted. The gold etched book however seemed to be made of swirling letters that shifted making it unreadable to the rogue. Doing what she would them she turned to secure two bags of coin and one of rare gems, leaving the jeweler behind. She could already feel the weight of the coin on her hips as she turned to grab one of the overly ornate blades. Hefting it Rikke found it weight a good more than a blade of its size should. Still with her burgerly almost complete she moved quickly to the jug and took it as well before moving to the window. Smiling she slipped into the azure waters and instantly began to sink as the weight of the plunder began to pull her down. Something had to go......

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke looked over the books, though she'd hardly force the captains secret diary open. The man could have his secrets, heck she'd not really want to ruin the quite pretty looking diary anyway!... it seemed rude to do so. Sill the enchanted golden book was the absolute standout, though try as the rogue might every time she attempted to see through a pattern the very letters and symbols seemed to shift and change. This was one certainly quite the catch!

Rikke bit down on her lover lip with a smile looking over it, oh~ she'd have loved to take it with her! But unfortunately seawater and books hardly got along. With a heavy heart, the girl looked to the book once again and sighed, placing it away with the others as she collected what she planned.

She'd be all set! Two blades, one hidden blade, 2 small pouches of gold and atleast 3 neat little gemstones in total! The haul was all set! With a beaming smile, Rikke got comfy on the window and dived into the azure waters below! Instantly the cool waters rushed over her, seemingly revitalising the girl though as she finished her initial dive and turned to swim towards the coast... she'd be struggling? The girl paused and quickly looked over herself as it seemed she'd have overburdened herself for the swim!

All the items were more than manageable, except one... that damn curved sword! Rikke would attempt to swim with it, but it was quite futile... forwning lightly the rogue would quickly slip from her improvised sheath and leave the adorned blade behind. Whoever made the sword certainly did not go easy on the filigree and weight of it! Still with a last sparkle of gold from it's sheath the blade would submerge deeper into the sea as Rikke was now free to return back to the shore! Hopefully her plan would work without it...
