It looks like that hitman game was trying really hard to be always online. Can't access any stats/inventory/character progression without being connected to their servers.

Yeah, the game wants to be online dearly, to note down progress. Still, this should only prevent you from more costumes and weapons, which you wouldn't want to use as a serious "Agent 47" to begin with.
I got pistols, MPs and rifles throughout my playthrough so far, and I never considered them for a proper game. You would use these guns for a random madman run probably.

What it is, is extortion and SHOULD be illegal. They couldn't sell you couches that you weren't able to sit on without an internet connection, why can they do that with a game? The industry DESPERATELY wants to be treated like physical goods (because piracy steals their money XD ) and yet resort to crap like this.

I'll agree with stuffie though, it's silly how many stealth games waste resources on tools (read: loud guns) that are downright detrimental to the completion of the task. Though some do feature sequences where you won't be penalized for openly killing large amounts of non-targets, it's all too rare.

I certainly enjoyed the tutorial missions though. Pretty great that you can kill targets using methods that don't cause the guards in the area to suspect you.

Now that reminds me that need a good and cheap game--my last game having betrayed me with a save corruption.
