Yeah that's a good method and you do need a sort of methodical way to learn. But it's no fun.

Hentai is not manga. There a very limited number of kanji variety in hentai so learning is easier.
First you get a feeling of grammar, then you fill in the kanji you don't know, and when you don't bother anymore you just look at the porn.

I might be biased because I basically learned english thanks to translated hentai.
Now, what H anime should I use to learn? Translated ones (with English subs)? Ones with Japanese subtitles? or ones with both?

Edit: I already know my kana, and I'm currently learning my grade 1 kanji
A bit hard to learn how to (read) kanji when you need to know the symbol, the meaning, and the reading (which are 3 different things)
KanjiHiraganaMeaning
学ぶまなぶ (ma na bu)study, academic
ひ (hi)fire

Might go with the good old textbook after I do my grade 1 kanji (I already have one DLed on my hard drive) or go back to Memrise

Do whatever you want and I won't be of any help for conventional teaching material.

I mean hentai as in in hentai manga (ok... BUT I would distinguish the two) just try to read them they are incredibly dumbed down.
Kanji dictionaries are a little brutal but some websites are decent (4 corner, etc). You can also try translating a 5-page old doujinshi, projects are always fun.

I wouldn't try hentai anime though it would be like to try learning spanish by watching hispanic porn on youporn.

You can try playing hentai games with a text hook (there's one that support dictionaries with romaji/kana/english definition but I can't remember the name). But it can be exhausting very fast.
