I don't know if you ever played the Monkey Island games, stone, but apparently, due to linguistic problems, a small portion of the third game was cut out of the german-localized version, as .

Hahaha. Can you actually rhyme well in German? Gotta be a bitch with all those consonants.

This is actually a pretty common thing, having jokes, puns, and rhymes taken out of a game during localization because they just don't translate well, if at all. I do have to give props to the people who translated Toriko for getting so many of them in there.

ye i played the monkey island games back in my younger days, wasnt aware of this cut-out-scene, thanks :D

@ slicer. yeah since the german language has sooo many words and discriptions, it works very well. atleast i think it does :p but its a common thing that some of the jokes are unable to translate /get lost in translation.

i remember a scene from "Scrubs" where elliot is talking german, in the german version she talks Danish.

Oh we can! But with Monkey Island 3, it was severe in that section, as there was no way you could translate both meaning and joke into german. So, they cut-out this whole part from the game.

Nowadays, localization efforts are bigger, and usually when translated into german, it's to fit german humor/sayings. But most of the time, the "translated joke" isn't as good as the original one. That's why - thanks to my brother - I started playing games in english voice/text during school. Now, I usually get the jokes/references in games. ^^
