With the whole proposed UN ban on loli/shota content and the fall of ex hentai, do you think this is the beginning of the end for the medium? Drawn pornography will obviously always exist, but I'm starting to feel like japanese hentai sites will be blocked in most western countries because of the near omnipresence of childlike characters in a lot of different products. Japan doesn't really care about the west as far as hentai goes, so they aren't going to enforce any anti-loli rules or whatever. Unless you're willing to pirate it, this will render most hentai unobtainable by us gaijins. I suppose western artist could continue carrying the torch, but it just wouldn't be the same... Do you think there's any hope? Am I just a dumbass that doesn't get how any of this works? You decide!

I'll answer you right away:

1) UN, it is not the first time that it tries to ban the anime, it has been trying for 20 years, but thank you always the USA and Japan are always rejected, the thing that has surprised me even EU has wavered the proposal of the UN .

2) An era ends, another is created.

3) Unlikely they will ban sites like DLsite or other, because Japan have made trade agreements with the EU.

4) Do you think that almost all the western population will not be pissed off with their governments if they completely ban anime?

In short: no I don't think the West would do such a foolish thing and so damned economically.

And then again, it is not true that the Netherlands has banned the loli and the shota, but with the introduction of the penalty of child pornography in the netherlands, another causus-belli has been created for false-moralists.

Let's say they are afraid of the troll-moralists.

So don't worry, do what you have to do.

I too am an artist but I draw uchronistic facts, but you think they do not offend me or threaten me. Yes, they are ignorant people who believe metropolitan bullshit of the Jurassic era.

I don't think anything will change in any substantial way, but that won't stop governments from trying
At least until the old men die off and pressure mounts to reduce censorship efforts, just as Japan recently had someone elected that had removing censorship laws as their main goal for the election

We're going to see more censorship for a while, then less. The only thing censorship actually accomplishes is an increase in people opposed to the government and encouraging those same people to organize for action

I read it on the One Game Angy website.
He is a conservative who wants to fight against the censorship of Japanese products.
I DO NOT TRUST conservatives, but if you keep your word, then re-evaluate (a little) these people.

Nah. It's not the first time a hentai website got shut down, nor will it be the last. Things are going to be difficult for a while because sad panda was the multi-national centre of doujin sharing, but eventually things will settle down and doujin sharing will continue in another manner. Perhaps less centralised, but that's not always a bad thing.

Speaking of which, does anyone have any suggestions? I've looked at a few but they seem to have really slowed down, if not stopped, after exhentai went down.

Haha yeah, because they just ripped everything from exhentai and re-hosted it XD.

Hentai will never disappear lol. Hentai is arguably a part of Japanese culture. Maybe western "hentai" will start disippating, and that's a big maybe. But they will never exterminate hentai, nor loli/shota, nor anything else. There's no reason to do so. Only idiots think that drawings harm ANYONE at all

Considering Hentai games are on Steam now, I imagine things are going to be growing, if anything.

Bit off topic, but I saw Eroico on Steam. Is Kurovadis on Steam too? Is Valve okay with the rapey content? Did you get any warnings or whatever?

It's not on Steam yet but it will be eventually.

And no, they don't have any problem with it. My guess is that if there's a reaction to Kurovadis it would be from random people, and not Steam itself.

There is a moderation process for every game on Steam. Yeah, you can easily publish an average hentai game with 18+ old characters. But it is another story when your game is about schoolgirls.
Your game has to be really profitable for Steam, otherwise they'll just reject it. Or you have to prove that your characters are 18+ somehow.
Well, this is the reason why I am not going to add adult content to Gaijin Troubles. Hentai and School theme on Steam are incompatible.

You don't need to prove that characters are 18, you just have to not prove that they're under 18. For example school could be fine as long as you're not stating age, since highshoolers can be 18.
If all else fails, you just set it in college or an "academy". If I remember correctly the translation of La Blue Girl just changed the school from a highschool to a college.

Also, profitability wouldn't have much to do with it. They have to access the game's content before it's sold. Considering I didn't even put the usual "All characters are over 18 I swear" message at the start of Eroico, I don't think they care too much unless a character blatantly looks way too young or you're going out of your way to say a character is underaged.

Koikatsu party - one of the most profitable hentai games on Steam. But even from such game, all school gameplay was removed. Steam version is just a girl constructor and you need a patch to play the game normally. Why did they cut out a huge part of the game? Obviously, it was to remove the school setting and any school activity from the game, no other reason.
I think it is a message to all game developers. Sex in school is a taboo.
