Man, it's been a whole year since the game was announced, and we haven't got anything new. Then again, 2016's been a complete bitch, and the guy seems to attract bad luck like a magnet, so you can't really be mad at him. I just really hope that things will accelerate with the new animator and (hopefully) the end of the bad luck streak. It's still one of the best if not THE best action H-game in the making, and I'd hate to see it abandoned.

I'm still skeptical as there are many similarities between his October 1 progress report and the latest report, giving me the impression that not much has progressed. Will reserve judgment until the new demo hits and he really should strive to at the very least have something playable for his patrons before the end of this year. It would be a bad sign if there wasn't a single release during 2016. I have little sympathy for the guy, assuming he receives the patreon amount stated on the page, he is receiving funding and needs to deliver a product to his patrons or be able show how the time and money was used. The last two weeks of updates have been a positive sign in this regard.

So anything new happening with this? Played a tutorial or something a while back, had a lot of promise.

It's kinda rare to have a game that's sexy and fun and the combat was pretty cool.

Let's just hope there's more sex than Cloud Meadow has so far. The artwork is great.

Too poor to donate right now sadly, although kinda hesitant without knowing how solid something is now, dammit Breeding Season!

He gave us a Road path awhile back.

Viper wanted to release a new demo but he didn't like how he was doing it. Right now he basically revamped everything possible and going to release a new demo after all that is set in stone. If you thought the game looked great before, just wait until you see it now.

That's good news!
This is one of the most interesting projects I saw so far, I like everything about it. I can't wait to try the new demo.
Let's see if in 2017 the project have a better development.

Soo, it's been a while since the last post on this thread. Here's a public update summarising where things are at the moment, along with a roadmap to the raw demo release:

The creator got affected by freaking typhoons that hit his country back in October, leading to flooding, electricity and internet problems, which slowed progress. On the plus side, after things normalised, he managed to hire an extremely skilled animator to work full-time on the game(check the post to see who that is).

Slowly, things are moving forward with this game, and now that we have an actual roadmap with milestones, it'll be easier to track progress towards the new release of Divine Arms(coming Soon™).
what is it with indie devs and catastrophes?

better hope they all don't converge together all at once while working on games people are all waiting on or a meteor will destroy the earth

Creation of any kind is stressful work and takes a toll on health more often than not. Scientist, artists, inventors throughout the ages have always suffered from poor health because the creative process tends to take up all your time and energy, the project taking priority over personal maintenance. It's nothing new, hell it's par for the course.

I don't think artistic endeavors are any more stressful than regular jobs, especially when you get 8k a month and no deadlines. Not criticizing the dev or anything, just sayin.

While that might be true, artistic endeavors could also be as stressful as regular jobs if not more to some people who are serious about their arts, especially those who held high minimum requirement of quality for their own creations and/or those who held people's expectations seriously to dear heart.

Give the developer the benefit of the doubt, just sayin.

I guess I did come off a bit dickish in my comment. Whatever, I wasn't really commenting on Blightspawn specifically, even though I did mention his patreon monies. I just wanted to voice my opinion on whether art is inherently more stressful than non-creative work.

Yeah...speaking of catastrophes, guess what happened again in the developer's country on Christmas:

This time part of his house's roof got blown away by the strong winds and there was also "just ankle-high flood". His power and internet connection did somehow remain stable though, so he managed to post an update regarding this and mentioned he was close to finishing the "stages "roadmap milestone. He also said he and his family would be moving to a new place in the first or second week of January. Somewhere where floods are less frequent.

Since the main animator Chris didn't get affected by any of this though, he's been making great progress with the animations. Check some of the patron-only posts if you want to see previews of some of the mind-blowing stuff he did for the latest hentai scene (the "finish" part of the scene to be precise).

I wouldn't be suprised at this rate if the next excluses include alien abduction and the illuminati.

I'm one of the biggest whiners about this because I was ready to go into 500$ tier at the start, but I held off after watching how slowly the other patreons at the time progressed and assumed I wouldn't see anything for the cash. A couple screenshots and some gifs are all we've gotten out of 80,000 dollars, which should be more than enough to easily replace a roof, especially if you're not in a first-world country.

Glad I waited.

You're going to have to run that one by me again buddy, what exactly do natural disasters and fictional conspiracy nonsense have in common?

While I can totally understand getting fed up with excuses and not wanting to contribute (that's entirely fair) going so far as to make these absurd proclamations seems a bit unjustified. Also, the notion that just because you have money something like replacing a roof is trivial is quite absurd, especially in a place like the Philippines and the fact that in the aftermath of a typhoon you don't just call your local roof guy to come over and put on a fresh roof.

Just keep the absurdities out of your posts, there's really no need for it.

Hey, I've been a patron since the very beginning as well, and I can definitely understand the frustrations caused by all the delays and setbacks this project has had, but that's exactly why I provided a credible link with proof in my last post - so people don't just think that this is some made-up excuse or conspiracy. And come on, surely you realise that he himself didn't really get "80,000 dollars" from Patreon - over the course of the campaign he has had to pay full-time animators (the old one who left and now Chris), commission artists (ReddArt and others), upgrade to Adobe Animate CC, and cover whatever other expenses the project has had. I also feel like some people easily forget that there's income tax on top of all that. I'm not saying he is poor by any stretch of the imagination, but it's obvious he has invested a lot of money into Divine Arms itself.

I don't think artistic endeavors are any more stressful than regular jobs, especially when you get 8k a month and no deadlines. Not criticizing the dev or anything, just sayin.
The big difference here is that in 99% of regular jobs, you're one of hundreds, if not thousands of people at the job; if you're out sick, the job can still continue to go just as well for the most part, even if you're a manager or a boss, workers can still do thier jobs decently well. (Also take into account that many regular jobs consist of you doing pretty rote/clear cut work that doesn't change too much from day to day, as compared to a creative job where what you're working on can radically differ from day to day; this isn't bashing on regular jobs, as they're needed just as much as anything creative is, if not more.)

For indie games, one person being sick is equal to say, Google losing thousands of staff members for a week. It would significantly screw up the work process as well as cause roadblocks for other team members (say the SFX artist needs an animation done by the sick artist to match thier sound effect up to, they're sitting around without anything to do in the interim).

Adding onto this, many indie devs don't live in good parts of the world, including ViperV, either due to cultural stuff (gangs, lawlessness, etc.) or weather-related stuff (in ViperV's case).

A lot of indie devs are very up front about their problems as well, compared to large companies that practically never announce the condition of any of their employees; this only further compounds the problem, leading to a scenario that on the surface, seems very odd and almost fabricated that games can be delayed this much due to just a sickness here or there or a weather problem, but when you look at it with this perspective, it makes more sense.

A couple screenshots and some gifs are all we've gotten out of 80,000 dollars, which should be more than enough to easily replace a roof, especially if you're not in a first-world country.
Do take into account he has a wife and multiple children; also take into account that even where he lives, with the money conversion giving him a sizeable amount of income, people can only work so fast to replace an entire roof and fix flooding in a house.

It's also been a lot more than that, of course, with behind the scenes work; take into account too that his artist had a similar situation as to what Cheshire did with us, where he started getting really lazy on work, was hard to reach, and eventually ViperV's artist quit because he "didn't want to do porn anymore", leaving him dead in the water without an artist, and him essentially 1-man-army'ing the game for quite some time, and 1-man-army'ing a game at the quality level of Divine Arms is going to take an eternity. That's why he got on the new artist, who seems to be making really good headway, but he's still doing everything else himself besides the animations and backgrounds (which ReddArt did in some cases).

It really is striking, not to mention how even the most minor life upsets (such as moving) take them out of action for weeks at a time. If I told my work that I'll be out of action for a few weeks because I'm moving house I'd be laughed out of the office.

I was really excited about this game since the beginning (just one animation after losing to the black one-eyed ball) but i lost interest.
Did the creatore, add a decent number of animatons and scenes? I'm asking because his patreon doesn't allow any kind of preview.

The creator has so far shown 6 other scenes: 2 for the black one-eyed ball or "Ganker" enemy (game-over and indulge scenes), 3 for the "Bloodhunter" enemy, the guy from my profile pic (regular, game-over and indulge scenes) and 1 regular scene for the Rapevine, a really weird plant which uses female victims to lure prey. Keep in mind some of these won't be 100% completed in the next release, since these scenes kind of kept stacking up, the old animator left, and people voted to have the next version released ASAP. Also, the original scenes that the creator drew and animated will be reworked eventually by the new animator to keep the style consistent.

Check out some of the 27 public Patreon posts (like this one: ) and the old posts on his blog ( ), he does actually have some previews there.

lol at people claiming that creating simple porn games on Patreon is more stressful than regular work. They have no bosses, no deadlines, no responsibilities. Anytime they can come up with bs excuse and many suckers will still support them. "Oh noes, my cat has diarrhea! Im afraid there wont be any updates for the next few months" and people are like "Oh, man take care of your cat, diarrhea is no joke, it may be caused by an extraterrestrial parasite! We can wait as long as you want."
