Lately, Dlsite has gone through a serie of change.

They crack down on AI generated work, putting them down in a specific "AI work" sub tab (like doujinshi or pro game), except, the AI tab is clearly cut from the rest of Dlsite, because entering a work name or id in the search gave you an answer for all the tab, but not the AI tab, you need to serach for AI work in the AI tab or it won't show.
Well, it's not like it was coming with all the trash work made with AI, but It's hard for the few serious dev for lacked drawing skill and made food game filled with AI... (yeah, there very few of them).

Another change is the English tag change under pressure from the paiement companies (see https://ulmf.org/threads/dlsite-changed-some-of-their-tags.16607/ ).

But lastly, they also (officially temporary) suspended bank card paiement. While there is option to get around (mostly, buying point through reseller - Dlsite even brought up tutorial about how to do this), the bank card ban is also now touching Ci-en. Yep guy. Go Go Go ! check your support plan.

I don't know about Ci-En, but Dlsite had commented about how 1/3 + if their sales where coming from westerner lately... which would be a big loss if they end up unable to sell there anymore.

Just hope they'll find an answer soon... Because I don't see them making a special westerner selling site (not after merging EN dlsite and JP Dlsite and how Jhoren fare...)

It's pretty much a no win scenario; if they lose CCs, it will hurt their sales, and if they get rid of adult stuff, they can kiss indy money goodbye as many devs and customers would leave, and only getting rid of some adult stuff would still hurt them.

Well, for now you can buy point using a card or Paypal.... but that's using a subsite of Dlsite as a third party...
Pretty sure the western payement system bullying Dlsite will soon realize they're tricked and stop providing service for the third party....

Crap, are we westerner so damn frigging stupid ? Or is it some lobbying of the traditional pr*n industry trying to fight back the H industry stealing their clients ? :D

I think it has to do with weird puritanism infecting the big payment companies. Maybe some uptight old fuck took over and is trying to throw their weight around. Or some insane law got passed somewhere that makes the CC companies criminally liable if some random customer uses their card to buy child porn.

I'm more inclined to lean on the puritan angle. Like, by how they worded their guidelines, human x elf romance is considered bestiality by MasterCard. Just insanely broad wording on everything.

Apparently, bigger sites like Steam,Fanza, and Amazon.jp aren't getting harassed like this.

Fanza doesn't allow its porn side to be accessed from foreign IP addresses. Like even if you already purchased content prior to the change, they won't let you view it now. (I know of a workaround, but I am not going to discuss it publicly online, lest they become aware of it and close the loophole.)

However, I think you might be on to something. I don't think any company in Japan distributes actual photographic images of anyone underage, but we all know that some hentai features depictions of underaged sex in the form of drawings and story telling. Maybe that's still too close, and breaks some countries' laws?

Huh. My US IP can view Fanza fine (I bought enough stuff there back when Fanza was the English-friendly site and not DLsite to be worried). (Though Nutaku is specifically blocked for my state.) Curious where you're at now but understandable if you don't want to say.

And yeah, it's definitely an issue of how broad some countries laws are. You can pretty much write any stupid thing into law as long you shield it behind a claim that "it's for the children!"

There two things that get in play here :
1) different countries, differents laws. In some countries, CG and drawning may not be seen as pornographic material (meaning hentai game and cg are "legal"), while others consider them as porn material same as photo or movies..
2) even if some things are legals, doesn't mean they're moral. Some country moral at against Pornography, yet they produce and consome lot of it.

Here there some problem with bank and paiement system, probably in part due to some citizens moral compass (or at least what they shout about) shifting against pornographic content and the commerce of it. Big companies trying to avoid problems and act in anticipation of them... And don't forget there already some precedent, like the American public campaign against Rapelay (first Illusion game to be sold directly in the US, that end up banned by reseller like Amazon after being framed as a rape simulator).

shield it behind a claim that "it's for the children!"
It's not an unreasonable concern. The issue is that their methods are ineffective, restrict economic growth and a hassle to everyone that isn't a child. Any and all methods of protecting children's wellbeing, whether physical or mental, MUST begin with good parenting and if such is practiced there is seldom more necessary. Don't give your children unmonitored, unfettered access to the sum total of human knowledge and depravity, start going after parents for not fulfilling their responsibilities and this stops being an issue. Nobody's searching up porn with their mom looking over their shoulder after all.

DLSite also has issues with copyrights infringements, something else that tend to be a big no from many payment processors, and having both CI and porn in the same place if not same products...
Another issue would be mistagging, which probably isn't helping their reputation and/or doesn't help endearing themselves to some customers.

Can you show me where mastercard mentions that they consider human x elf romance to be bestiality please? You got me really curious. o.o I tried looking it up but I keep on getting LOTR or fantasy stuff.

I'm basing it off the guidelines , by a group that makes adult websites. Mastercard doesn't post the guidelines on their website, as best I can tell.

Aliens and mythological creatures apparently count as beasts. It's one of those rules that's probably meant to filter out tentacle monsters and intelligent animals but was worded so broadly that it accidentally applies to just about everything.

I'd say their intent is actually to filter out anything non-human, even humanoids. Aliens being the first example given, and when most people think "alien" ( in the extra-terrestrial sense ) are the first thing that come to mind, especially those of us that spent years watching the x-files. Moreover they've chosen not to go into further detail or specifics, non-con goes into specific words and objects that can't be present where beastiality is only a single sentence, if this is indeed mastercard's policy they WANT to be able to deny service to knife-ear smut XD

Whoa thanks for sharing the information. This is so funny and dumb at same time XD I didn't think i'd actually see fictional trope where church discriminates against anything that's non-human such as elves actually happen in real life xD But in this case it's a credit card processor instead of the church.

Well, if we ever somehow make contact with alien elves, i know who they will be suing first now lol. Actually that's one of first things i'll tell the elves. :3 News will be glorious to read if that happens.

I dunno if this relates to dlsite forced changes, but im currently experiancing something thats very annoying and that I have no answer too. some of the DLsite links I use just send me back to the default page. this link displays to some game with a battlefuck tag, but no matter if I click on it via a link or through the site itself, it always redirects me, does it happen to any of you if I share this link?
Id like to know why this happens and how I can undo it.

Searching the product tag from the JP end gives no results. If you're adamant something is showing up in the trait search function, it might be the product being recently purged from the catalogue but the job wasn't complete. That, or the link URL was wrong to begin with for an existing product.

Most likely uses AI art. Seems to be the recent source of this issue, when dlsite stops distributing a game it shows an error page instead of redirecting you to the home page, or at least did 6 years ago when I was updating the old threads here.

Most likely, the game was removed from dlsite.
Either the author removed it himself, Dlsite removed it for policy reason.

Or, as pointed above, because it's AI made.
After much controversity, Dlsite made a special sub page for AI made work... and then remove it completly, leaving all the work that where on it.... non existant anymore. Yet as they were registerd on dlsite, you can still find link using google to search. Most likely the "ai work" page, is still existing, but unacessible, so google found link but you can acces them ?

I think the pages of AI Generated content cannot be seen in some/most countries, which is one of the reasons I think the beef with Western payment processors wasn't just about porn, but also copyright infringement.

Yeah, they just redirect for most/all countries outside of Japan I'm pretty sure when it comes to stuff that is primarily AI generated. They likely don't want to deal with any form of potential legal copyright shitstorm that may come in other countries regarding it.
