why does dlsite keep selling old OS games that require either XP or an older version?

Example:

Is being sold on dlsite but their OS is XP, i read on other sites that there's a downloadable version but it doesn't seem that's the case with the description the game has.

" ‎Windows Vista and later operating systems are not working.‎ "

Because the Dev does not remove it from selling.
Because some tool allow you to emulate other OS.

And in simple case, just using the window implemented compatibility mode is enough.

And - cynic mode ON - why not left a work that may brin in $$ evne if the buyer can't use it ? :D

There some old work that are really good and you would like to be able to replay them (hell, a couple month ago why making some space I found a stashed box of old game that were working on DOS - like Ultima 7. Make me want to replay some of them but couldn't bother to try to make them work - not to mention how it would look on a big resolution screen...)

Thanks for info

so if you buy a game from them (which requires older OS) just run compatibility mode and will run?

That will depend on the game honestly.

If you're lucky, yes.
But if it's require a old OS (win 2000 and before) or if you're unlucky, you'll either have to set a side (old ?) computer with an old OS, or use virtual machine set to an old OS. And here where going out of my field of knowledge.

Hi. I just wanna say that I have really been struggling trying to run old games I've bought on dlsite. I have tried compatibility modes and everything to get them to work, and yet, nothing. The game in particular in question is Iyashinbo by Guilty +. It says on the site that the Windows compatible OS is 7 and it will absolutely not work in Windows 10. Once compatibility mode didn't work, I tried to enable legacy components (DirectPlay) & still nothing. So I decided to try Virtualbox for a virtual Windows 7 OS. One of the games in my library worked with no graphical issues and only with my locale set to Japan. However, I have issues with the ones that use PlayDRM (ones that require a serial code license to activate). I tried one, and it *almost* worked. After I installed and registered it, the window popped up but with a black screen. If I wait a while, the music even turns on, but still no image or action. Does anyone know if there is a way to work around this in virtualbox?

Dunno about virtual machine, but most guilty's game tend to work properly with full Japanese setting or Emulator (just switching unicode is not enough to really got them to work), and they also require specific version of C++ or something similar for old game.
I invite you to check VNDB's thread on this game, as this problem is discussed and solution offered.

The other issue one can run into is stuff requiring flash player or browser + flash player.
