I've been looking at eroge for around a decade and a half. I missed the old Custer ones, and other similarly terrible early attempts at video game porn. I happened upon this brave new world just as Linemarvin released his eponymous foliage-related title.

Thus, I haven't had the privilege of growing up with decent h-games as a standard, more as a recent bar-setting for future games.

What are your favorite elements of an h-game? What makes it more attractive than a video or doujinshi? For me, I think it's how the faces (aheago, etc) can portray the core emotions we feel without looking as ridiculous as a human O-face. That, plus the ability to satisfy my fantasies without causing any problems with the law.

I like the act of submission/being made to submit more than I like watching pure newds without the story, ergo a game where you are playing out the act of defeat and following cuddlemolestation, more or less immersively.

Needs to have good animations,stuff to do, no grinding and actually be a porn game not a game with porn.

The gameplay
If it doesnt have good gameplay, what's the point?
Then it's just gating the porn you want behind a bunch of hoops you only jump through for the sake of the porn.
Plus the interactivity makes it more interesting. If you can't interact with the game, then I may as well save myself the trouble and watch a video.

Good gameplay comes in many forms, and many h-games fail terribly at it. But then there is the occasional gem with a great idea in there or an aspect that happens to be particularly well made

For me its the perspective. I watch pron/hentai/doujin for things that I can't reach IRL.
For games it's mostly the corruption of an innocent girl.
There is no way for me to watch some cute/innocent/inexperienced girl getting more and more lewd over time IRL. I would never know how she feels etc. I just CAN'T watch the whole way of sluttification.(Is this even a word?)

Im sure there are erotic books etc. that could fullfill the same purpose as the games I'm playing but I'm used to games much more. It's just more comfortable for me.

Also there are games with graphics/different animated scenes/Optional Events/different Endings/special scenarios/bonus stuff. Often its more than blindly following some story till the end.

I think about the worst ones I've played are the flash based games where you answer questions to get some random hentai image.

I love the Sim Brothel gameplay, but the images can often make it or break it. "Oh, I'll try this one. It says she has small breasts.... Wait, where did those huge mega boobs come from? I'm so confused!"

I admit that my own game is more of an RPG with Hentai elements. It's heavily inspired by Violated Heroine, but you're never given that open world experience that Violated Heroine has going for it. It also has elements inspired by Zelda and Metroidvanias, wilderness survival games, etc.. Plus I'm in the middle of adding starting traits (inspired partly by Project Zomboid, and partly by Fallout).

I guess you could say I'm trying to cram everything I love into one game.

It does use turn based combat. I know that is sadly a big deterrant for a lot of people.

The "House of Pleasure" section still needs a lot of work, but basically I want it to be an area where you can have some lesbian fun with some other unique girls you find during your adventure, as well as every monster in the game (or watch the girls have fun with them). Most of the monsters have to be purchased from a guy at the "Monster Club".

Some of the more enjoyable moments have come from playing Corruption of Champions with a female character. It's a lot of fun being able to determine exactly how your character looks (even if it is just a text description...). The RNG will have you save scumming like crazy though, and this game showed me what futanaris are all about. I find them quite disturbing.. like a creepy male clown wearing a female skin.

I've also enjoyed the Super Deepthroat game quite a bit, thanks to its heavy amount of customization options.
I do wish there was a higher variety of hand positions for the female.

Ooh, these are exactly what I hunt for. Kurovadis is what really anchored in my love of pixel act/plats. And let's face it: even if the content didn't turn them on, Tobihime (Interbreed) players probably just loved playing h-angry birds.

I'm with XSI on this, why play a linear game with next to no interaction when I can watch a movie with just as bad production value and save lots of time.

Probably my gamer side, but give me a fun game with lost of teasing and a nice payoff, I'm good. Give me loads of cheap easy porn, I don't need a game for that. I wanna PLAY!
