VN/TEXT H:AtE moo

Re: H:AtE moo

I should warn you guys, using the sex system here labels you a 'sexhabber' and basically makes you a social pariah. Unless you're in this for the combat and MOO elements, I'd tread lightly and probably just stick to HellMOO.

I was lucky enough to get into a corp that showed me the ropes and told me to steer clear of the higher level players that tend to troll newbies. If you roll a female character and get an amber alert, DON'T listen when they ask you to set your @nudes and describe body parts. It's a trick to get you labelled and outcast.

...It's kind of stupid, I know, but if you want to play (I do, I'm enjoying myself) there's definitely stuff you need to watch out for.

Tried Hatemoo out and gotta say, not as bad as I thought. It seems more chilled out than old Hellmoo. I also know better now how to keep my head low and not attract attention to myself better from experience...haha. Less OP people running around destroying everybody. One big difference is that grinding skills in Hatemoo is almost pointless because it actually COSTS exp, Hellmoo rewards exp for it.

Grinding EXP and IP Differences in Hatemoo vs Hellmoo:

Basically, you gain exp from doing quests, killing monsters, random weird achievements and such. Then you have a different thing for skill levels called IP, you need 100 ip points to raise the raw rank of a skill (0-6 is grindable but can be taught past 6 up to 15 from players or npcs) Exp is the currency for buying IP from players or npc teachers to automatically learn skill levels. You also "spend" exp while grinding IP in Hatemoo.

So in Hellmoo, you're rewarded for grinding skills (Fighting with weapons, using medical supplies on injured people, basically using the skill in its action raises the ip) by getting exp to buy skills quicker but in Hatemoo, it still costs quite a bit of exp to even grind the skill (From what I've seen, 50-90% of the taught cost) so a lot of people don't bother grinding skills and just buy them now instead in Hatemoo, where Hellmoo is mostly grinding to earn them.

It's a pretty big difference. Hatemoo also grinds skills WAY faster. Hellmoo has a 15 second IP limit (You can only gain .01 at a time, so it's a minimum of 25 minutes to grind a skill level though it usually takes much longer.) Hatemoo for all I know has absolutely no limit, you gain skills as fast as you can effectively do whatever it is your doing. It's pretty nice but again, it eats most your exp immediately instead of rewarding you it. Interesting trade off. Most people in Hatemoo actually frown on people grinding skills because it can take longer to grind the skill than the difference it would have taken to buy it instantly, and go do more quests for exp.

Long story short: Hatemoo has much less emphasis on grinding the actual skill with use, most people just do quests for exp and buy skill levels, where Hellmoo awards you for grinding, but takes wayyyy longer. I'd say Hellmoo's system makes more sense, where Hatemoo's is kinda mellow. You can do things that have nothing to do with medic and get exp to just buy your way to have a good score in it pretty easily.

Gameplay Differences:

I gotta say, Hatemoo's gameplay is a lot more exciting, you win more and you lose more. Hellmoo missing out on pvp is a pretty huge handicap, and I'm not even much into pvp. Just knowing I can grab somebody and throw them down some stairs or electrocute them, or toss them out of a plane, suicide vest into them, throw them in a furance...etc, makes the game a lot more interesting. You'll find out new ways to murder/rape people everyday. Original Hellmoo and Hatemoo gameplay is/was basically 50% ways to hilarious murder people and new Hellmoo is missing out on the fun, though you will get way more frustrated with it as well. Losing hours or days of work if somebody fucks you badly.

So all this coming from somebody with about a week in PvE Hellmoo and a day in PvP Hatemoo (Still newbie so I haven't been harassed much :p), I actually changed my decision and would say try Hatemoo out, if you get sick of dying, it's probably not for you and you could try Hellmoo. There's just way more going on in Hatemoo because of the pvp, you'll have more goals to accomplish, things to do, etc. Admins and players are much more active, all the chat channels are usually overloaded with people where Hellmoo is pretty quiet even though the same amount of people are on. PVP gives people a reason to talk more, to fight more, to troll more, to do everything more. You could basically watch a movie while playing Hellmoo, where turning away from Hatemoo for a minute could get you raped, literally, a lot more attention required because of the risk, bigger learning curve too because you need to learn how to survive all the ways people can fuck you and your text gear up and there's a lot of them.

I sat down and didn't leave my computer after I started Hatemoo up for the first time today because so much was fucking going on, I couldn't make myself stop playing, didn't get that with Hellmoo. Overall both games are extremely similar aside from pvp, Hatemoo got some new additions like muts and such but it's mostly the same huge world. Either is top notch and is amazing on it's own, I just gotta hand it to Hatemoo in comparison so far after trying it. Overall both games have a hugeee learning curve. Beyond learning all the moo commands, the world is absolutely huge and always changing from player interaction. Don't expect to master an understanding of the game, I've played for months and months and am still dying in new ways, retarded ways. Even with friends and in a corporation, they can't possibly warn you about everything bad that can happen to you, it's vastly trial and error for that reason and you'll be erroring a lot. It's kinda like dropping a child off on some alien planet.

P.S: One of my corp mates dropped zombie meat from his plane all over Gangland, a big city filled with npcs. They all ate it and turned into zombies, killing or injuring a bunch of people who went in there, was hilarious.

Update: Game is still boss, I love Hatemoo. I really recommend trying it.

Re: H:AtE moo

AFAIK buying a raw costs alot less on HATEmoo compared to Hell.
Grinding seems fun for the first couple of characters, but after a few times you'll realised that not having to grind pain in the arse skills (like medic or science) is better overall

Edit: Also HATE has a different Grind command, if you set a skill to grind you'll only gain ip in that skill and not waste it on something else you dont want to raise at the time. Or you can set it to grind none (I think, check 'help grind' for the right context) to not waste any xp on grinding IP.
