((For those that are keepin track of Kiriana's exploits, this is what ya DIDN'T see of her adventures. More or less a prequel to the start of the RP thread...))
Kiriana emerged from the dark stairwell to a sandy arena. There was a sun in the sky, but not The Sun. It was bright green, and gave a rather... Unpleasant feeling. The arena was circular, but in a square around the edges were four pillars, each of which were marked with demonic runes. Other than that, there was little to note, other than the portcullis which slammed in place behind the bunnygirl And the fact that the walls surrounding walls were incredibly high, and completely vertical, for at least fifty meters.
Kiri adjusted her Red Mage's garb, glancing up at the green sun as she shuddered a bit. It gave her a bad vibe either way, still, she approached the ruins, the staff in her hand held ready just in case something jumped out at her, with a trusty rapier on her hip just in case the staff would fail
Before she had gone a dozen steps into the surprisingly cool arena, Kiriana would hear a deep, throaty, but still feminine cackle emanating from above her. The laugh seemed to echo far too much for such an open area, considering the arena was at least a hundred meters in diameter, and seemed to be coming from the top of one of the pillars to her side...
Kiri tensed a bit, already gripping the tool of magic ahead of her as she neared it, trying to squint at the top of the pillar to try and expect what she was up against...
Sitting atop the pillar, barely distinguishable at the range, was what looked like a human. Or... Something like a human. It was a bit hard to tell, but they seemed rather bulkier, that which would soon be explained as the figure fell off of the pillar, spending a second or so in free fall before a pair of jet-black, leathery wings opened up behind them, enabling a quick, but safe decent to the ground, resulting in a massive dust cloud when it landed.
As the figure landed, Kiri lowered the edge of her hat to catch the most of the dust that fell into her face, as she then slid it up again to take a better look at the other creature. "What the heck are you?" she queried, still keeping her staff ready.
As the dust settled, another cackle was heard. "Take a look, make a guess!" a female voice said, and with a gust of wind, the dust flew away from the pair, enabling Kiri to see a very large figure. It looked like a human woman gone wrong. She was at least six and a half feet tall, and had snowy white hair in a bun of sorts, with spiked styling around her tapered ears. The broad grin on her face revealed two very long, sharpened canines, and a pair of glowing, blood red eyes, with no easily determinable pupil, just solid color. Two horns sprung from her forehead, with the massive wings now folding behind them. She wasn't wearing much, and what there was, wasn't friendly Armour, nothing but battlegear. A breastplate, which covered her upper torso, nothing else, a set of spaulders and vambraces, a plated fauld around her waist, but no lower leg armor, as her legs buckled at the knee, and became reverse-jointed, ending in hooves, instead of feet. A very long, very thin tail was twisting away in the air, ending in a pointed black heart shape. There was a scabbard at her hip, which looked to hold an ornate, but massive sword, the kind that took the burliest men to wield two handed. For now, the obvious demoness stood still, in a casual position, obviously not threatened at all by the magi standing before her.
Kiri blanched a bit, scooting back from the demon as she prepped her magic in herself, even if she wasn't too skilled she could hopefully save herself. "Er, right, my mistake...." she whimpers, quite odiously not used to the great demons like this.
Laughing, the demoness took a few steps towards Kiri, still not revealing her blade, but a sadistic smirk was spreading across her face as she towered over the girl. "Of course, your mistake, though there's plenty of opportunity to correct that, girl." she said in her weirdly reverberating voice again.
Her ears drooped a bit as the demon advanced. "I-er-I-uh..." she stuttered before she gave a yelp as a blast of icy magic flew from her, the block of ice from her Blizzard spell shot at the demon as she continued to back-peddle in nervousness.
Should she take the chance to look, the demoness was looking down at her frozen lower half, blinking in surprise. She shifted a few times, then grimaced, and clenched her fist, which quite suddenly set aflame, the fire being deep green and purple, sparks flying off of it as she slammed the fist into the ice, which cracked, and then a few seconds later, shattered. Laughing again, the demon stepped forward, as Kiri retreated towards the wall. "Nicely done, but you're scared. Being scared sure isn't going to help you, but it might make it more fun for me!" she said in a break from the laughter, as one hand reached down to settle on the handle of her sword.
Now almost in terror she gives a small shriek, firing a pair of ice spells at the monster, considering the creature got frozen last time it was worth a shop "G-get away!" she yelped, even as her back hit the wall. This was definitely not going well, and that was considering the fact she really didn't have a place to run to, really.
The demoness was prepared this time, and with a sweeping movement, both spells were caught on the flat of the long, viciously serrated blade that had now revealed itself. The metal froze up, as would be expected, but moments later it burst into the same purple and green fire, shattering the ice. Lowering the blade to her side, the demon stood straight once more, laughing maniacally. "Ahah! You think it would be so simple as simply telling me to leave my own realm? No no, you can go, but you have to fight first, this is an arena, is it not?" she barked, gesturing round the empty space behind her, and snapping her fingers on the free hand. She didn't appear to be having any problems wielding her massive sword in a single hand The floor behind her split, and a stone archway rose behind her, filled with swirling red mist. And out of it stepped... A human? Well, it looked like a human woman, almost exactly the same, except for the glowing red eyes, the same as the demoness, only there appeared to be pupils, even if they were just a darker shade of red. The woman had mousy-brown hair, typical of a human, which fell just past her shoulders, and was dressed in a black robe with some red and gold decorations. A pendant hung around her neck, a gold chain and locket, and there were simple boots on her feet. She clutched to her chest a staff, with a crystal on the end. This woman just stood still after exiting the portal, eying the demon with the respect one would expect of a squire to their knight. The demoness cackled again, and gestured at Kiri. "You can fight her! It should be far fairer than trying to fight me, I'm sure, her name is Lilyenne!"
Arena? Realm? She was lost but she wasn't sure she could get much help from these two. Still, knowing what was happening, she twitched her ears a bit. "A bigger question would be why I was shoved here without knowing what I was here for, still, if it's a fight you want, I might be able to give one." Her demeanor, now realizing what she had to do, was now much more buisnesslike
The demoness' grin only widened, and she gave a mock bow, her sword sweeping to the side. "The answer to that is because I was bored and had the ability to get you in here. I am glad you will comply, so I will outline your reward for victory!" she said happily, straightening up, and sheathing the blade. "Should you win, Lilyenne is yours, for a time at least, you may do as you wish with, or to her, and then she will demonstrate the way out for you."
"And if I was to lose?" she asked, though she wasn't much for the idea of loosing. That demoness seemed to be quite strong, and if this worked in tiers, she didn't expect to do well...
She shrugged. "If you lose, the reverse. You're mine. Simple as. Do you have any complaints you wish to voice?" she said, smirking, a hand resting on the pommel of her sword.
"N-no, was more curious." Still, she held her staff ready once again. "Well, let's begin then..." she nodded her head in the newcomer's direction, ready for her move.
The human woman, was shaking slightly, and gave a curtsy to the demoness, stuttering "A-as the M-Mistress wi-wishes...", before blinking and recoiling as the demoness laughed again, and took to the air, returning to her position atop the pillar. The woman looked downcast for a few seconds, then stepped back a bit, giving Kiri a bit of breathing space as she raised her staff defensively.
Kiri nodded too, stepping from the wall and moving around her, staff waiting. "She's a tough one I take it?" she noted, nodding up to the pillar as she takes her position somewhere near the other pillar, giving them both breathing space.
The girl didn't reply, only glancing fearfully up at her Mistress, before turning back to the bunny-girl, and tapping the staff against her feet a couple of times, the crystal atop her staff beginning to glow.
Kita understood the quiet actions of the mage, then basically stood still, staff still ready. "I-I see. In that case, you first, and may the best fighter win."
Lilyenne's eyes widened, and she stuttered something incomprehensible, before pointing her staff at her opponent, a strange bolt flying out of the glowing crystal. Large, and yellow-ish, but seemingly tainted with the same green as the sun above the arena. If Kiri didn't react fast, she'd have a faceful of it.
Kiri seemed surprised that her opponent had seemed a bit overwhelmed at the mage's actions, though the bolt of magic definitely wasn't a joke. Giving a small yelp, she dodged off to the side, to hopefully let it sail past, as she thought a bit over the magics at her disposal. She didn't want to hurt the poor scapegoat, but she didn't fancy those bolts would feel too pleasant...
The bolt passed close enough to Kiri to singe her robe, revealing a small streak of her body beneath the clothes, and giving her a very hot push away, sending her tumbling to the sand, while the human girl blinked a few more times, her face now drained of emotion as she brought her magics around her, and the sand around her feet began to stir, and rise.
Kiri took only a few moments to check her injuries to see she was fine, but she realized she had to act fast. Deciding to strike fast but not going to injure, she once again invoked her doublecast powers- one spell to defend her, a magic to reduce how hard spells would strike, and then retaliating with the elemental attack by releasing her own batch of Fire back, the small fireball speeding for the poor slavegirl
While Kiri could feel the empowerment of her own spell, the human opposite her whimpered in pain as she caught the fireball on her staff, which exploded, and send her flying a few feet back, to land on her back gracelessly. She rose slowly, as the sand she had agitated fell back to the ground, and gestured with the staff, a solidified sandstone spike bursting through the ground and piercing the hem of Kiri's robe.
Giving another yelp of surprise, she jumped back a bit, glancing down. She seemed to realize the girl herself was toying with her as well- she was stronger then she looked, but she seemed to be holding back for some reason. Still, she couldn't just throw it herself. Deciding fire and ice weren't doing too well, she took a few moments before letting some Lightning arch from her staff, trying to hit at the girl's staff again
The girl Lilyenne wasn't properly prepared, and yelped in pain as the lighting was absorbed into her staff, and Kiri could see it conducting up the girls arm, before she finally screamed, and fell back again, smoke rising from her body. After a few seconds, she moved again, rolling to her front, and making to stand up.
Kita waited a bit, allowing the girl to recover. "You ok?" she asked, mostly as she sees the girl could quite literally be hurting from that- after all, she downed quite a few behemoths with a similar stunt, but then again, she also had clanmates to back her up
Lilyenne rose to her feet, staring at the floor for a while. "D-don't ask m-me that... We're f-fighting..." she murmured, just loud enough for Kiri to hear, as the crystal pulsed bright green.
"If ya say so," Kita said quietly as she prepped her weapon again. She once again prepped her defenses for the fire of the spell as she prepped her abilities to defend.
The attack never came, instead, the girl continued as she had earlier, sand whipping around her in an obscuring cloud.
Kiri couldn't help but tilt her head in confusion. What was she on about? Still, she kept her defenses ready for what may happen.
Kiri would find herself waiting for quite a while, as the storm thickened, and soon began crackling with small lightning bolts. Then, out of the blue, came another bolt, this one more blue-ish than the first one.
This time it was quite obvious this one would hurt. She quickly tried to dart away, staff trying to hold in front of her.
Unfortunately for the mage, this one was too fast, and too much of a surprise to be properly dodged, it struck her leg, but didn't hurt. Instead, there was a feeling of intense numbness spreading across the leg below her knee.
Kiri winced a bit, realizing she couldn't feel her legs, she tried to support her almost-useless appendages with her staff, giving a slight whimper while staring her over. So that was it... Quietly, she worked out a incantation of her own, trying hastily to prep up a spell of reflection before she could use another such blast...
As Kiri watched, she would notice the stormcloud changing, whether it was getting bigger, or just getting closer, or both, was hard to tell, but it was certainly starting to take up more room in her field of vision...
Kira backed up a bit, but managed to finish her incantation, her skin taking a silvery sheen for a second as the spell reflection chant was completed, meaning she should at least be blocked that way
As the cloud approached, it was indeed deflected by the spell, but rather quickly, Kiri was engulfed by it, there was nothing to see but raging sands and miniature lightning, only being held back by the fact they were brought about by magic...
Kiri drew her blade, trying to see SOMETHING through the sandstorm, trying to use her crutch and good leg to move around forward in an attempt to locate her quarry....
Dark shapes moved within the storm, each time being sighted from a different direction, brief glimpses of part of the shape of the girl, until suddenly, a shape broke through, being the butt of the staff heading straight for Kiri's chest...
Kiri gasped in surprise. She never seen magic like this before, still she tried her best to defend herself, mostly raising her staff slightly in an attempt to block the incoming blow. However, her hopes were not high in her current condition...
Jon says:
Kiri was in fact saved by the spell which had already hit her, as her bad leg crumpled without being able to lean on the staff, sending her to the floor, and the physical blow simply went over her head, allowing her to see the girls exposed arm and chest.
Giving a small gasp as she hit the ground, she did her best to do a sideways swipe with the rapier, though she doubted a truly wild fling would help, it may deter her enough to slide back up
A slash with a rapier can never be more than a deterrence, though the thin blade did slice into the robe across Lilyenne's upper arm, drawing a little blood, and the arm withdrew, vanishing into the storm again, which seemed to thin a bit, Kiri could see the shadowy form moving around within.
Kiri slid to her feet, grimacing a bit as she slid her numb leg like the dead weight it was, as she tried to focus, she tried to aim at the shadow within the sandstorm before releasing a blast of fiery magic once again... she better hurry, her reflection spell didn't last forever...
A squeal of shock and pain was heard as the fireball plunged into the obscuring screen, and the shadow suddenly diapered, and the storm started to dissipate. Pretty soon, Kiri could see Lilyenne lying on the floor a few meters away, a hole burnt in her robes around her midsection, exposing most of her belly, though there was no apparent wound there, rather, she was raising a glowing hand from where she had been struck, probably having fixed the wound.
Kiri panted a bit, letting the woman heal herself, as she felt her own refectory enhancement slip away. She needed to keep ready, she expected the woman's retaliation to be quick and brutal, thus waited to wonder what she'd had to do to defend herself...
The response came as quick as was to be expected as she slammed a palm to the ground, then gestured towards Kiri with the staff, a jet of sand flying up, approaching at high velocity towards, well, most of the bunny-girls upper half really.
Kiri seemed to give a short deer in the headlights look before with a short yelp she tried to throw herself to the side- as true running would be futile at this moment it was the closest thing she could do to escape, though once again pessimism was working against her view on it's success
The moments hesitation cost her, and the jet blasted into her right shoulder and arm, sending Kiri spiraling backwards helplessly, a fair amount of skin rubbed raw by the abrasive pummeling. Afterwords, Lilyenne could be seen rising, and the crystal glowing bright green again.
wincing weakly, Kiri could barely move without pain shooting through her, as her sword arm was pretty much a wall of pain. Seeing the charging spell, Kiri whimpered. At least she got some good shots in, she noted to herself, as she tried desperately to half-drag, half hobble her wounded frame to the pillar before the spell could hit her, in no state to escape properly
Above her, Kiri could hear the demoness laughing hysterically, and if she deigned to look up, she was actually on her back, this was clearly her idea of a good stand-up. As it was, there was barely enough room behind the pillar to conceal herself, and then she heard the demon's voice trail down to her. "Oh, I'm rather sure hiding won't help, dear, unless you're surrendering of course!" she shouted out, while behind her, Lilyenne withdrew from her spellcasting until the demoness was finished.
"N-no, I'm fighting to the end..." she hissed slightly, "Even if the end is close..." Still, she gripped her staff as she tried to focus her energies... she had to do at least one more spell, or else the one would think she utterly threw it at the end.
The insane cackling reached down towards Kiri as she waited behind the pillar, and after a time, her leg started to recover, though it would appear Lilyenne was making no move to force her out.
Finally, Kiri decided to try and make her final move. Giving a sharp hiss, she moved from the pillar, shooting a fireball. Unfortunately, she realized far too late the shot was way wide...
As she should have expected, the lack of preparation and proper aiming was Kiri's downfall, as the fireball sailed past Lilyenne's head, ruffling her hair, and causing her to blink, before another bolt rushed forth, missing, but exploding into the wall behind her, sending chunks of rock flying into her back, knocking her to the floor, and knocking the wind clean out of her...
Giving a slight squeal, she collapses to the ground, only to let out a pained yelp as suddenly her used to be immobilized leg, then her back, both took abnormally sized rocks onto them, causing her to whimper in pain as she soon grew out of breath. She was trapped, and in her current state she doubted she could scoot away now...
Kiriana emerged from the dark stairwell to a sandy arena. There was a sun in the sky, but not The Sun. It was bright green, and gave a rather... Unpleasant feeling.
