The thing that always bugs me with illusion games, is that they very evidently have all the technical and development resources they need to put out something really special, but they always fall short on gameplay and design. Things like Artificial Academy showed a lot of promise, but always skimmed just off the mark. Weird design decisions and half baked features everywhere in those games. Hard to enjoy as an interactive experience, but also restrictive if simply wanting the eye-candy. Ultimately they all devolve down to the "customise and fuck" formula, which despite the general quality of the animations and graphics, I've got to say feels like such a huge waste of effort and potential.

Agreed. My main problem with Illusion games is that they're just way too vanilla. I mean, if someone is going to play hentai games, it probably lends to the probably that a multitude of missionary and doggy style poses with generic japanese squealing is...well, really really dull and boring. It needs to be more open to fetishes, and even though you obviously can't cater to every fetish under the sun, I think anything beyond just "rape" would be okay.

Femdom, gangbangs (there's usually just 1 pose for this), futa....those are some entry level fetishes I think that would be good to add. Maybe even yuri, as was suggested.

Have to agree with this.
I have only played two of there games and seeing as both had the same issue i just never bothered again.

I seriously think they need to hire some actual GAME developers... There artists/modelers/animators are doing fine... (except for the censorship ofc)

I hered you could do some seriously pointless stuff on the recent custom maid remake thing, like placing pens on your desk... idk, sounded completely pointless...

Why spend more resources to make additional features, if they've already got stable income from making games the way they are doing it right now?
Add to that fanbase/community, which provides decent mods and everything is dandy.

Illusion is like a Bethesda Softworks of the porn -- stuff they make is an okay-ish, games can be modded and from what I see by looking at the amount of mods, pretty easily.

And I have a feeling, that Illusion is one of the biggest guys, so there is not much sense to make huge improvement jumps, as long as people keep throwing money at them and there is no real competition with any other company.

Mmm, couldn't have put it better myself. Though I have to admit their earlier games had much, much better gameplay and depth than their later ones. I did enjoy AA, but Illusion games seem to get more and more shallow the more they try to improve their graphics and animations.
