As Jessica tries to struggle free, Miller gets webbed next to her and tries to unsuccessfully shoot the spider, only to get entangled even worse. She finally stops shooting and tries to free herself and Jessica manages to tear her legs free, only to get her arms bound to her by yet another web.

Jessica struggled hard to try and get free of the webbing, succeeding only after the doctor was webbed again, and as she herself had her arms stuck together as she got up. She tried to free herself again to help Miller, but things were looking grim...

Spider: 8/9
Jessica manages to tear herself free and after avoiding two more webs, also manages to free Miller. As the pair runs away, the spider seems to decide that they're not worth chasing, instead retreating back to the tree. Some dozen meters away Miller stops to watch, her hand squeezing the pistol grip with rapidly paling fingers. "Perhaps you'd better fetch your spear."

Jessica managed to quickly free her arms, and while ducking several more attempts by the spider to web her, freeing the doctor quickly enough to flee. The spider thankfully didn't pursue, and the two of them were able to get away. It seemed clear that Miller was shaken, and as Jessica panted and tried to catch her breath she said "maybe we should both go back to camp, if there are things like that out here."

After some internal struggle, Miller sights and puts her pistol back to the holster. "Go back to the camp. I think I'll walk around for a little more."

"No, I'm not going to leave you to walk around alone out here" Jessica said firmly. She didn't want to have to rescue the doctor later if she were taken by a monster. "Either you come back to camp with me, or I'll stay with you."

Miller lets out an exasperated sigh as she starts walking away from the camp again, though careful not to get close to that particular tree again. "Fine, mom. Not that you'll do much good without your spear if something comes our way."

Jessica got a little flustered at her boss' response, and said "hey, don't be like that! You think you would have made it away from that spider without me?" She followed after the doctor, continuing "I'd rather go back, but it's a nice afternoon. Hopefully we won't run into anything else like that..."

Miller continues walking in silence, trying to keep her eye on everything as they get further from the beach into the tropical forest. There are more fruit trees, but Miller doesn't try to climb any of them, instead stopping at a berry bush to taste a few, before starting to collect them to a small bag.

Jessica shrugged, keeping an eye out as well and ignoring the doctor's silence. When she came across the berries Jessica looked at them for a moment. "What kind are these?" she asked, trying to strike up a conversation.

"They're called drumberries. Pretty common in these islands." The small bag is soon full and Miller looks around to see if there are any more interesting plants.

"Is that so?" Jessica asked, making sure to make note of what they looked like, so she would be able to find them herself if she ever got lost on the island. She didn't know what else to do, of course, and just followed the doctor in whatever she did.

Apparently not seeing anything else to her liking, Miller heads back to the camp with Jessica. The two aides give the returning pair covert looks and not-so-well hidden grins, which cause Miller to hesitate, but she keeps walking and goes to the tent.

Jessica followed the doctor back to the camp, glad to be out of the forest and back to a place where she could defend herself a little bit better. The other girls were grinning a little deviously, though... it seemed like they thought there was something going on between her and the doctor. That... certainly wasn't true. They had shared a kiss, sure, but it had been fueled by the mimic's aphrodisiac. She walked over to the pair nervously, fidgeting a little. "So, what's up?"

Willow answers a little too quickly. "Oh, not much, not much. You came back faster than we thought you would."

Jessica looked at Willow and fidgeted as the other aide spoke up, a little too quickly for her tastes. "It was just a walk, why would we be gone much longer than we were?" she asked, wondering if either of them would come out and say what they thought.

Willow's eyes widen with faked innocence. "You were only gone for a quarter hour. Couldn't have gotten very far."

"Well, we got attacked by a monster and came back" Jessica said quietly, looking back at the forest. "There are spiders bigger than people here... This island is crazy."

Anne's jaw drops. "S-spiders? Oh no! I don't like spiders. Did-did any of them follow you?"

Willow lays a hand on Anne's shoulder and the girl seems to calm down a little, still looking worried.

"No, they didn't follow. I think they're ambush predators, because they just sort of gave up when we got past a certain distance" Jessica replied, nodding. "I've never liked spiders much either. To see one bigger than me... not fun."
