Seems like my message got cut :^) Speaking of that, do you see a problem here? You say you are not/it's pretty close, I could say there is no difference, even though there are in many elements. I could be an ignorant douche about it and it would be annoying, for a very good reason. Sorry, for making an example like that, but the point is, you can't just go ahead and say "you all Europeans are the same or 'we are all brothers and sisters here'", British blokes will get annoyed for telling them they are like French. Europe is not USA, no matter how hard it will be pushed, it's not going to happen. I will fully agree on coexisting and acceptance to a degree, even some individual friendships, but when it's nationwide views, it's different. Even in terms of migrants, with question of who brought them, fingers will be pointed at certain countries. That's why EU works well as economical body, but as soon as it gets political and different cultures/views try to push their stuff on others, it's starting to grind.

Those views do not die in century or two, lower in magnitude - yes. Right now there is an uprising due to occurrence that never took place in such scale on European continent, even if that was solved right away, nationalistic views do not disappear after a day, it's a slow downgrading process and while it's getting less popular, those views must be targeted at someone. I don't mean some bloody arguments taking place with bodies removed in bags, but generic "no u because u r [xxx]! No, u, stupid [xxx]!" that will simply be a problematic, fist waving screeching until it cools off.
I know there's a lot of that around, but that still won't lead to conflict unless someone tries to push shit onto the others. Tensions are high only because everyone sees an outside force trying to fuck them over, and the EU plus open border policies gives them an easily identified source of that outside force. The solution then is pretty simple- Make it so people stop getting fucked over and then let everyone just relax and be decent people. There will always be a few idiots that hate everything different, but the majority of people will stop caring when they stop feeling like they're under attack
Yeah, just read this part of the post. Pretty much what I just wrote. However, people have a very good reason to feel like they are under attack, a completely different culture that doesn't want to integrate and acts like it's their new playground only proves them right. And it doesn't matter what kind of people are coming over, if it would be Chinese flooding EU and not integrating, causing some terrorist attack from time to time, acting in same, barbaric way, nationalistic views would be rising as well.
All the tensions can keep rising until a certain point. The question is how long until that point is reached and how horrifying it will be? A little grim, but history is written in blood.
