To be honest, I believe that many creators who take a long time to complete a work and take insults and cancellation rumors to heart enough to actually hold off on continuing the work because of it are really just using that as an excuse to procrastinate or stop working period and one particular creator of a flash game that can't be shared here comes to mind.

That probably isn't the case with Mephisto but it's just something I wanted to throw out there.

A shame, he had good game ideas that actually blended hentai and gameplay better than most. Had he teamed up with a decent artist it would have improved the games and drastically cut his workload, but I doubt he was making enough money off this stuff to hire a team. One of the few hgame makers I bought stuff off DLsite day 1 because I was confident the gameplay and value for money would be good.

Truly a sad thing to see such a great game chain end. His 3rd game was the only game I ever bought off DLsite because I was amazed that one man was making these original, funny and fun games of such scope. Personally I think his artstyle had a certain appeal to it, like maplestory or wakfu, too often I see the "typical" anime H of girls with the same expression, at least he broke the mould.

It was only going to get better anyway, if you look at his first game's art and compare it to the final 4th, you would not think it the same artist.

On a more productive note, I made a special note to keep his 3rd and 4th games on an old unused laptop in case he disappeared again and the links went down like now, I'll see if I can find chance to upload games 3 and 4 this week.

This. "I would have finished the game if people didn't harass me" types. They just want an excuse so the failure isn't on them in their minds. I have a feeling I know who you're talking about as well.

Edit: Oh we were just talking about him in another thread, maybe it was deleted (An unfinished/missing developer thread).

It seems that someone needs to make a cartoon anime style H-game like Mephisto makes. To me, I believe cartoon anime style is the best style. I really wish there were more H-games in this style.

Ahh,Mephisto...I still remember all the old discussions about his games while everyone still played those...I think it's really a success when a game piques an interest of so many.

What i liked the most about his games was the challenge present in them...Kunoichi Ninpocho 1 was a really difficult but nonetheless fun game which really required you to know what you're doing to get anywhere in it(i had great fun going through it,as well as all of the subsequent games).

As for his artstyle well i always thought that the whole H concept in his games had just a marginal importance as the 98% of the focus was on the gameplay itself.

I too wish that Mephisto would reappear some day,but it seems that he just couldn't take the pressure anymore so he bogged out,but i can't say i blame him...

Agreed,it was better than the rest of the games,as it had that "survival" feel to it that the other games lacked...

I did like the whole free choice mode in the subsequent games(the ability to choose party members and levels to replay again),but it wasn't as nearly as challenging as the first game.

Yeah I only played one of them (The Record of Sakura's Punity), I wrote a guide for it I think. Maybe I'll try to find the other ones. I'm not big on the art, I would have loved to see some improvement for a sequel (Mostly anatomy/animations), but the gameplay was good enough that it didn't matter much. As always, I'd much rather good gameplay and so-so art than good art and so-so gameplay.

After people saying the first one has a survival feel to it I'd like to play that one. I like it when my hentai games feel like they have a survival feel.

The first two were the best, they had a reasonable blend of gameplay and difficulty and didn't drag on. The 2nd used, as far as I can tell, a Suikoden style XP system so your power levels were capped to insure the last level would still be a challenge no matter how much your grinded.

The third was too much of a scavenger hunt, the whole miko quest thing and the six gems at the end were simply obnoxious. The difficulty was also too uneven; it spiked up hard in the desert level, but if were able to handle that (ie you didn't waste your level-up points on stats that weren't attack and defence) you were in the clear for the rest of the game. New Game+ also didn't reset your levels (and you had to play on New Game+ to get the miko and the real ending), so it was a total stomp at that point. Then there was that quiz game level crap, that was pain even if you DID understand the questions. It's the only game in the series I would never want to play through again. Spoiler to those who want to play it: do not waste your time hunting down 100% the 'traffic bills' or whatever those main tokens were. All you get for completion is a brief scene with the Yoiya character's master and a useless ring you can sell for money. Not worth the aggravation some of them required.

The fourth was more fun than the third without the random battles and not having to constantly eat and drink, but it was piss easy. The enemies scaled up in HP and defence, but their attack power not so much so there was zero danger of dying past the first couple levels. Also apparently nobody told Mephisto the quiz game level sucked, so he brought it back; and made it three times as long. It's nearly impossible to beat without stocking up 99 healing items to blunder through it, and I really have to wonder if he had anyone playtest that awful level at all before he released it. A shame nobody tried to mod it, it would be a great game if the enemy attack power was ramped up and the quiz level was simply deleted.

The 2nd in the series is all I am missing, if anyone can find that one in a reliable, fast download like mega or bitshare, I will repay the favor by uploading episode 4 to mega.
