Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

"Aye, basically... but even they can't... consume those energies, like you can. You're... a special case, obviously, and the only one I know of, god, mortal, or whatever have you, that can do so," Merrick replied, watching as Kylie's energies heated up more and more, the building vibrating a bit as she continued.

"If you go much further, then yes you will, and probably us with it. So... now try and focus it, into that rod that I was using before. It's the sink I've been working on for quite some time now. You can expel loads of energy... theoretically, into it, where it'll dissipate on its own, over time. Overcharge it though, and it may burn out, so be careful. These arcane vaults, have a virtually limitless source of arcane energy, but... they do have to cool down, and recharge a little bit, when used a lot, like now. If... this works right, the sink, will absorb the majority of those energies you funneled into it, and you will be just fine. Of course, you'll want to let go of the vault there first, so you don't just keep feeding energy into the sink," Merrick said after a few moments.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Kylie listened, and then finally let go, her body literally humming with all the energy she was holding onto while she seized the rod and made the connection. Kylie had always been an all or nothing case, but her weather manipulation had made her better at fine tuning things. Believe it or not creating a hurricane was difficult because of the cyclical nature of the energies involved and the way they interacted with the energies on the ground. The creation of the eye was the hardest, requiring a massive pressure downdraft. She was pondering that while she opened the floodgates and started to rush the sink with energy, watching it to try and measure it's actual capacity as she did, but she held up her other hand, nursing a tiny blue flame just in case as a backup, if the sink started to fail, Kylie would change directions and the flame would roar to life as she forcibly burned off the excess power that way.

Treerazer did something similar but I think he was directing the energy, not consuming it like I do. she said.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Merrick was watching closely as Kylie funneled the energies down into the magic sink he'd made her, the elf's eyes flashing over it curiously, making sure it didn't blow up or anything. After Kylie had funneled about 3/4's of the energy she had absorbed from the vault, she felt the thing humming in her hand almost, vibrating, as it was supercharged with her excess energies. "Alright... good, good. Discharge the rest, easy now... don't go all in one go. It might overcharge it too much," Merrick said, holding up... some strange device, that Kylie didn't recognize, as any magical thing she'd ever seen before.

As she burned off the last of the excess, the magical sink was red hot with magical energies, and looking about to explode, but Merrick waved his staff and wand around, and a greenish bubble shield of sorts surrounded it, before a massive jolt of arcane lightning arced out of it, and into said shield, which popped, but they were all safe and sound, and the magic sink was cooling down now. Merrick sighed softly, before he looked back to Kylie with a smile. "Well, I think we found its limit. Not much more than what you just put into it. And that was enough magical energies to fry any normal human, and even most true fey, save those that are the strongest of the strong," Merrick said, looking happy with the results of that test.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Sadly, I don't have all that good of an idea how much Exactly that is. Those flames Merrick, those show up when I'm venting excess power. It breaks down and those flames become visible. The breakdown causes an extreme cold and an entirely new current that looks like this. she said, gathering up the void energies she'd created doing this, the current that showed up when everything else in the area had been cooked off. That black hungry tar like flow. It didn't last long, and it faded shortly after.

Still have no idea what that stuff actually is. But my hungry side is made of the stuff. A big part of Me is made with the stuff. It's all terribly confusing. she said, huffing and looking at the sink curiously.

Honestly... if I were you, I wouldn't touch it. It tends to do... This. She said, touching what was left of it to one of the stools. It wasn't enough to dust it, but it looked like it had suddenly aged 100 years and was incredibly brittle and warped. If it's regular currents it takes a little from everything and goes away. If it hit's something, or I push it into something... well... It takes, and it takes, and it takes until it's burnt out.... Here... Look. she said, holding out her hand to Merrick as she pulled on the air. If he had sight comparable to hers with a spell or some such, he'd see a hungry whorl of the stuff in her palm, it's edges ringed in blue, threatening to become those chill flames.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

"Just when you feel that humming, you'll know you're getting close to that limit. And I understand. I hate to say it like this, but you are one of the most fascinating people that I've ever met, including some of the gods and whatnot. If I didn't respect all life, and their freedom, I would want to study you closely for... gods, until I could fully understand you, and your children, but I do respect all life, and you, as a person. And believe me, I know enough about that thing to know, not to touch it when that much magical energy has been funneled into it," Merrick said with a chuckle.

As Kylie started to show him the air currents she was pulling on, Merrick waved a hand in front of his own eyes and muttered something, where she saw his eyes glowing a bright blue, as he stared with wonder and curiosity at the air. "Amazing... simply amazing. I'd like to test something else too, if you don't mind. You said you can devour any type of energy, pretty much. But you've already shown the ability to consume arcane energies. Can you absorb a spell, I shoot at you? We'd start with a basic magic missile, of course, just to see how easily you can do that, since that wouldn't really hurt you much, and be much like a spider bite, or bee sting," Merrick said with a fascinated look on his face, eager to see Kylie's ability in action. "It might also give me a bit more insight on how to make things for you, to accommodate your abilities," he added, while Serena smirked.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

You can study... I just dont want to accidentally Kill you. Ask Serena... most things I can just absorb to death. So.... And the Children are.... new monsters altogether. You are not prepared for them. She said, giggling as she showed him the currents, creating her little void zone for him to look at.

When he said he wanted to try attacking her, she shrugged. Sure, Always been curious, I mean... I'm lightning proof so... But I tried it with Treerazer but there was so much of his aura around I couldn't focus on the spell he used on it's own, I could just weather it and keep from dying outright. So.... go easy. she said, moving for the backdoor, hugging Serena tight as she passed before moving on and waiting outside for whatever he was going to do.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

"I understand, don't worry about me. And believe me, I have children, though all are grown nowadays. But when you have a little prodigy of a mage for a son, following you around, constantly looking over your shoulder, wanting to learn how to... "zappy zap, daddy," then... well, you get the idea, though Hazel says your daughter Cammy has a natural ability to teleport. That's... practically unheard of for mortals, of any kind, at least to be able to do so at will," Merrick said, chuckling about Kylie's, and his own, children.

"And yeah, I figured that was the reason you couldn't just nom nom his ass. And I gotcha. Just a basic little magic missile at first, we'll build up to lightning," Merrick said after a few moments, before following her out to the backyard with Serena.

Once outside, Merrick waited for Kylie to give him the go ahead nod, and he aimed his wand at her, and a purplish missile, the size of a pencil, shot out at her. It was fast, but she could have easily ported out of its way if she'd wanted to, so she had ample time to ready her defenses, and consumed it was, as if she'd just eaten a licorice stick or something. "Alright, I'll toss some fire your way, consume it quick, so it doesn't burn you, or the trees," Merrick said, looking satisfied by the first results.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Woo! Kylie said, snatching the missile out of the air where it burst and vanished. Broken down and then devoured in an instant. But when Merrick mentioned fire she flailed wildly NO NO NO! NO FIRE! EVER! she said in a panic, looking to dive out of the way in case he did anyway, actually porting up above them onto Serena's shop roof.

I can do NOTHING to fire, I can't eat it, I can't twist it, I can't affect it at all, it rebuffs me at literally every turn. she explained. Make a flame, I'll show you. Don't hold it though. Put it somewhere you're well out of the way. she said, coming back down to the ground.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

"O-Okay then, no fire. Lightning then?" Merrick replied, dropping the magics he'd been gathering, before letting electricity arc across his fingers.

He also made a small flame in his other hand, as he stood there. "Funnily enough, my main element I can work, is fire. But how does it reject you? It's odd that it would, honestly. Though I suppose since fire is a release of energy, that it makes sense," Merrick said after a few moments, watching closely at how Kylie's rejection of fire worked.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Shield your hand with something strong if you're going to hold the flame... Kylie warned him as she stepped forward and held out her hand. At first it was the same void, his spell would still be up, he could watch closely, and it would look differently to him then it felt to her.

She tried to absorb it, and not only did it refuse to die, but her entire arm lit up red like the flame itself and her lines started to smoke, and then blister. Meanwhile, the void itself had moved around the flame to try and absorb something, Anything else to stop what was happening, to repair the damage Kylie's physiology was causing.

It would drain Merrick's shield, Try to drain his arm, swallow the air, and Kylie's burning stopped for a short while, until the surrounding stuff was tapped..... And then her own power had two choices. To rampage out of control and drain EVERYTHING nearby to heal her arm, Or to dissipate violently. In the end she was Physically shoved backwards as a curtain of blue flames Exploded into life between her and the flame and she slid back almost a foot from such a small fire.

Kylie shook her arm for several seconds, wincing, before touching the ground and drawing on the island, repairing the damage and sighing with relief while her color returned to normal, like a poison was being pushed out.

If its a full current... I don't Dare touch it, I don't even try, it's absolute Agony. I get all the warnings, A bad taste in my mouth, a tingle in my spine, a violent fear. It's almost a phobia if I try to use my power on the fire itself. When I ran into a burning building I didn't try and calm the flames, I tried to make myself Cold enough to last. It Barely worked. she explained.

What Merrick would see, on top of all of that, was that the void in her palm had turned on her, and then spread away from her, out of her control, free and on it's own to roam and eat in wisps and vapors before her body had lashed out and created the curtain.

I Cannot Touch It. It eats me from the inside out... she said, keeping her distance for now.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Merrick nodded and watched, as he produced a shield around his hand to prevent himself from being hit with back blast from it. Merrick watched worriedly as Kylie worked herself, and his eyes went wide when he saw her arm blistering. Merrick pulled the flames away from Kylie as soon as she stopped trying to work them, and snuffed them out, before checking her arm. He poured magic energy out to Kylie, letting her feed as much as she needed to heal her arm up, looking like he was enduring some pain, as she did so, but he did it willingly.

"That... is strange. Don't try and do that anymore, if you can help it. No reason to hurt yourself," Merrick said softly, patting Kylie's head kindly before making sure no flames were around to interfere with Kylie's devouring. "Just let me know when you're ready, and I'll throw lightning at you to devour, okay," he added, waiting for Kylie.

When she was ready, Merrick arced the lightning out of his hand at Kylie, who was able to gobble that up with ease, the lightning making her hair stand up a bit. "Can you do cold and ice stuff?" Merrick asked curiously.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Kylie grinned widely, seemingly fine now and she ate lightning like it was an orange. It was Terrifying.

But when he asked her what she could do, she smiled almost insanely. Watch this shit. she said, actually starting to giggle as she reached out to every current around her that she could reach and touch, the sky, the wind, the sun, the water in the ground from the rain, and she Forced them to curl around her like a dome. She twisted them like they were thin wires despite being full currents. She didn't do anything with them, just... bent them, shifted them. The water rose from the ground into the swell, scattered on the wind, froze into snow, the ground frosted, electricity started to build, her hair fully standing, the grass flourished away from the cold, growing quickly and chaotically. The sky boiled with clouds before moonlight forcibly lanced down through it as the currents fought based on their strengths and Kylie twisted them to let them all showcase momentarily. The cold came from within her rather then any outside source, and at the end, she let darkness boil out of the ground in long smoky tangles that twisted and writhed like tendrils of some abyssal creature.

My inner sanctum is NOTHING but that darkness. Passive, neutral, soothing. I'd call on the sun to, but it's a bit far away right now. Before she let them all go, and like snakes losing interest in her, they slid back into their proper place while the leylines under the earth reacted and surged and ebbed as she plucked at the currents like harp strings.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

"That... is fucking awesome. I'm resistant to lightning attacks. But I can't just fucking absorb it like that, as if it were nothing. Enough can, and will still hurt me, but you get the idea," Merrick said as he watched Kylie with... what could only be described as glee.

Merrick watched Kylie as she worked the energies, with awe in his eyes, as she did it. When the darkness began bubbling out of the ground around them, Merrick looked around at it with wonder as well, gently reaching out to touch one of those black tendrils of dark energy. "It's... beautiful, to say the least. I've seen a lot of magical things in my life, but never anything like this," Merrick commented as he watched. "And the sun could be leeched off of, if we could get you there. Gods, I'd hate to even think of what you could do with that much energy," he added after a moment.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

As it stands I can shape life a little bit, plants and stuff, change them. George there is a sentient lemon tree I Accidentallied. Wrap your head around that one. Say Hi George. She said, waving cheerfully at the tree.

Fire is the only thing I can't really touch and I don't know why. I don't really know why I can do any of this. I'm a WeeJas Vessel Experiment gone wrong. Only he would know and well.... He's Gone Forever. Kylie said, shrugging. Spells are more.... I can eat small ones, and big ones I can untangle if I get a chance. If the energies are woven up right it doesn't work, or it goes wrong. she said, casting a lightning bolt herself just to prove she could.

And Yes. I. Am. Awesome. she said, putting her hands on her hips and posing a little.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

"Heh, George's lemons are the best I've ever had," Merrick chuckled, patting George's trunk, where George wriggled happily at the patpats.

"Mhm, George is nice and fun," Serena said with a grin as she came over and George's vines scooped her up in a tight little hug, where she giggled playfully.

"Hmm... there might be a way to give you the ability to unravel those spells that you normally can't. I'd have to know exactly how you go about devouring it, and the only way I could probably do that, is to have you feed on slowly me for an extended period, to get the feel of it. And that has it's own risks, obviously, like you might take too much before I could figure things out," Merrick said after a few moments. "Anyway though. I can throw other kinds of arcane spells out too, even some with necrotic properties. They do have their uses, I admit," he went on to say with a shrug.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Bah, the dead should stay dead. Kylie said, tickling George's trunk for a second.

But yeah, I'm a hot mess. I'm a strong independent chilly who don't need no fire. And I mean, I can just... Grab your arcane vault... who else can do that? No One. As for the spells? I mean if I wanna take one apart it takes a little time, I need to know what it is most of the time, figure out which energy to pull out of it to stop it. Like the lightning is just easy to eat so I don't bother but something else would take time. The other option is to burn it off as I catch it, make it into a blue fire but that doesn't always work fast enough to stop it all. she said, shrugging again before flopping at Serena.

Just to be a pest she ported her to George suddenly and pushed her against the trunk cos you know, rapey lemon tree.

Still, we need to find a way to properly murder the demon before you get to write a paper on me. So... let's do that. she said, wondering if Serena would like the worms in the mines. Probably, she'd have to take her with next time.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

"Well, I can grab it. Anyone can, really. But to be able to do so, and open that thing up, to where you'll do more than just hold it... not many can," Merrick replied with a smirk, before Kylie grabbed Serena and ported her into George's grasp, where his vines looped around her, as she yelped and flailed at him, but he didn't let her go too easily.

Merrick chuckled at the sight, before going back to talking to Kylie, nodding at what she said next. "Aye, lucky for me, I got a photographic memory, for most things at least. Conversations, pictures, you get the idea. So, while Serena's having fun with George here, we can take a better look at that spike you mentioned. If you don't mind. I might be able to help you figure out how best to utilize it," Merrick said after a few moments with a smile, looking over at Kylie and gesturing back to Serena's place, while Serena squirmed and yelped playfully as George tickled her.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

No. Kylie said, porting inside and immediately reappearing with the bundle. I like to watch. So Here. Spike, don't stab yourself with it, they were very clear about that. she said, unrolling the stuff and scooping up the Tiara and trying to feel into the thing curiously.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Merrick blushed a bit at Kylie's words, and simply kept his back to George and Serena for the moment, as Kylie brought him the spike. "It's... obsidian, I think... at least mostly. There's obviously magic in it, but this... holy shit this is powerful magics in this. Whatever you do... don't poke yourself with the tip of that there," Merrick said, looking the spike over curiously, and avoiding the point like the plague before looking at the tiara curiously, and nodding knowingly, as if he knew what it was after a few moments.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Apparently I can trap Treefuckwit's soul in it or something. Honestly I'd rather just Eat him soul and all. Believe it or not I have an infernal shard. A celestial one as well... They're much smaller then the others and affect Luck apparently. She said, being entirely unable to manifest them, she didn't even try.

For some reason those two parts of her... were almost entirely autonomous. Unlike the other pieces of her, vested in her soul and creation, she had come to understand that Kina and Kuna were far more seperated from her then the others. While the others contained pieces of her, her emotions, her tastes, loves, hates, Kina and Kuna were different, and she felt the need at that very moment to explain.

Reaching down in the dirt, Kylie drew a circle, and then put 9 lines in that circle, and the names of each in their own sections. Some were slightly larger then others. Idris and Kalt Dominated almost half of the pie on their own, and she labeled those outside the circle as Drive. They made most of the decisions, the other shards revolved around them in the end. Aqua and Ichor were the next largest pair, but right behind them were Luna and Sola. 3 other shards remained, and she thought about it, and removed one of the lines.

Taking her time, carefully thinking and then feeling herself out, her pieces provided the actual answer, and she removed one more line. Of the shards, Kalt, Idris, Aqua, Ichor, Kina, Kuna, Sola, Luna, Hecate, Gale, and Will. Will had never revealed her actual name, it was assumed that it was Kylie's name because of her nature, but in the end she found it, that large part of her finally spoke seperately, something she had never done to Kylie alone, and revealed her name as Banshee.

Banshee, Hecate, Kina, and Kuna were not within the original circle, Gale took up the remaining large spot in the pie she had made. She made another circle around that one, and labeled it Banshee, and Kina and Kuna were small circles on that line, like orbiting moons around a planet it seemed. But Kylie wasn't quite done, and drew one more circle, and she labeled that one, that encompassed all of the shards at their root, Hecate. This wasn't quite right, so she changed the entire diagram again and was finally happy.

Hecate went in the center like a star, large, important, and driving the others on a basic level. The other 7 in the original pie were made as planets, they were dancing. She finally understood what that meant. She understood that dance, and the orbits were not uniform. Idris and Kalt were the largest planets on the scale, and their orbits affected the others. Gale was the next, her cold ability to do Whatever she had to Whenever she needed to and it was close to the sun, and could sway the planets as they made long orbits. Finally there were 3 more to add. The diagram didn't look right, because the orbits changed too much, but Kylie wasn't drawing anymore, Banshee was, and Banshee took her place next to Hecate as a Binary star, while Kina and Kuna became far strung comets that changed things outside the system. It was finally finished and Kylie came back to herself properly. Grinning, and giddy like a school girl. She understood more of herself and in doing so, understood more how her powers affected the world around her, and why they did so, on a very small level.

It... looks like my training circles... that's creepy, and awesome. BUT THAT'S HOW I WORK! MY INNER ME SAID SO! loudly..... she's LOUD when she wants to be holy balls! Kylie said, scratching her head.
