For me, one of the reasons is that there's not really any way to win this. Having a "cut-off" time would be nice, so that someone can occasionally actually win.

If you think about it, isn't losing just another chance to win? And isn't every last post you make another win for you? You -are- winning, you just don't get to keep it.
