Since the voting is slow, I will advance the story with the current majority which is H/1/N.

If you offered me to pick a pistol from a bunch of pistols on a table and Desert Eagle was available I would take Desert Eagle. You should not assume from my preference that I am good with it, nor that I have ever fired a bullet from any pistol in my life.

Fair enough, I suppose, but I would point out that there is a difference between real life and gameplay mechanics.
In games, "Preferences" (especially those with Tiers) imply and ability to use - with at least some degree of aptitude - the thing that the character has the "preference" for. This could be either because they have practice using it, or they simply find themselves more naturally comfortable with it. It's also what tells the player what weapons or armor they should be using with the character if they want to be successful. Why would we make the character use a weapon or armor so early on that they do not have a built-in preference for, for example? We wouldn't, which is why we're surprised that a weapon she actually does have a built-in preference for turns out to actually give her problems using. It's counter-intuitive.
I'm not saying you should go back and change anything, and I'm not even saying I disagree with your logic behind the definition of a "preference" and the SMG giving her trouble. All I'm saying, is that having SMGs listed as a "Weapon Preference" for the character when that listing provides no aptitude with that weapon in the gameplay mechanics makes it a very misleading stat.

In Left 4 Dead, using character's preferred weapon has no meaning or advantage -- it is just a default weapon that the character will pick if there is a choice of same tier weapons and the computer is controlling them.
Moreover, if in the game Zoey has a Tier 1 weapon and if only available Tier 2 weapon is an M16 she will pick and use M16 -- she will not refuse Tier 2 weapon because there is no Hunting Rifle.
Finally, if respecting her weapon preference actually gave an attack bonus I would have listed that under her skills.
